I just had a little adventure with dad. So he's going over to visit his sister and donate some supplies to her I have cobbled together. He has a car with the keyless entry. He gets the trunk open but can't find the key.
I finally get him to empty his pockets. He has a ton of stuff in each pocket!
(I found the keys in the trunk, he'd dropped those in there when he opened the thing).
I encouraged him to "put the same things in each pocket, never changing that. Extra things go into a bag."
For me, I put certain things into certain pockets and on my belt, the same things go into the same place. I never have to think about, I know where it is.
Are you this way?

I'm kind of a special case being a full time sitter. I put nothing in my pockets mostly cause nothing stays there. But I am a creature of habit. I have a little front pack where I put my wallet, keys, a flashlight, knives, etc. I have a little back pack where there's a pocket I put my reading glasses and a few necessary items.
Stuff always in the same place.
One down fall to switching to a power chair sometimes is it's different. I do try to arrange it so I can mount the bags in the same place as much as I can, which makes it easier.
Don't know how many times I've grabbed for the wheels in the power chair or grabbed for the toggle in the manual.
It's a wonderful life if you don't weaken.

I absolutely do that, same things in the same pockets. Every. Time. If there’s one thing I can’t stand, it’s searching for stuff.

Right front pocket or IWB @ 1 o’clock is pistol.
If pistol is in pocket keys are clipped on left belt loop. Otherwise they’re in right front pocket
Left front pocket is always cell phone. Sometimes a small clip flashlight too.
left rear pocket is always wallet.
right rear pocket is always any misc. notes or papers.
Need to carry a knife but it doesn’t fit in usually.
yep, I am a creature of habit.

I generally have my .38 in my right front pocket but if I am carrying an auto (autos go on the belt) my right front pocket stays empty. That's how habitual I am.
I do need a belt-pouch for my phone. It generally goes into my jacket pocket but now with summer coming it'll go in my back pocket with hanky. That's not the best place, even when there is no pandemic going on.

I always find my car key in my front left pocket and I don't understand how it gets there.

I definitely put things in the same pocket and put them away in the same places every time - I always know where these things are.
Many times when we are going out, I just go and sit down while my wife tries to find her keys!

Maybe alcohol is involved? ;)

Same thing every day for as long as I have had pockets. Pocket knife and car keys, left front. Change and money clip, right front. Wallet, right rear. Used to carry a comb in the left rear, but don’t need it any more (!).

Funny about the comb no longer needed. I haven't used one since 1996 or so? Been shaving my head since 2002.
I should have guessed most on here would be habitual concerning pockets and gear. When one carries a firearm, one must be disciplined and be able to draw without thinking "where is it?"
When I drew my pepper spray to stop an attacker last summer, I do not recall thinking about the draw or even drawing it. I recall thinking "I need to pepper spray this guy" and the next thing I knew I saw the canister in my hand. So that draw was automatic. That couldn't have happened if I had to search for it. In fact, if it wasn't available right then, I am not sure I'd be alive right now or I might be typing this sitting in a wheelchair as I have no doubt that man would have beaten me to death or certainly tried to.

Doesn't sound like you live in a very safe area. Meth heads robbing gas stations and also having attackers to pepper spray. You may want to consider moving? :behindsofa:

It's not a safe area! Hasn't been since 2014. That's when the pill epidemic exploded. Once I can get off that redneck rampage road I will.
As for drug-related crime, that's all over the country. Some areas are worse than others. At least in my state the law is on the side of the victim. We do not have to flee and the right to carry is not taxed.

I wear shorts with a gun belt and like to keep my right side concerned with my concealed carry... free to draw one-handed from under my un-tucked shirt, as needed, so my wallet is in my left rear pocket, spare car key in the left front with my small Swiss Army knife; remote/car key in right front with Chapstick and change, if any. My spare mag is on my belt on the left side and my Gerber F.A.S.T. Draw knife clipped in the left front pocket. My pistol is IWB right side and I carry folded paper towels in my right rear and some in my left front as well. Kleenex and pen in my shirt pocket... must have shirt pocket. For night, if I'm going to be out after dark, I clip a powerful light to my belt left side forward of the mag holder.
The shorts I wear around the house are drawstring with only one rear pocket on the right, so that bothers me, but usually for short convenience trips, so the wallet is right rear then. I still will carry a knife, usually an S.O.G. Assisted Opening Tanto, but no spare mag.
Unless I forget, I always carry my cell phone, too... shirt pocket or leave it in the car since my wallet takes up the rear pocket.
So, I know where everything is.
When I decided to start cutting my balding hair short, it took a LONG time to get over not carrying a comb, too. :D

I don't miss a comb or a brush at all, nice to get up, rub your head and your good to go.
When mine gets to where it needs a brush, it's time for a cut. My wife has been my barber since she was my wife so all it takes if for her to have the time and the mood. She usually comes after me to get it done.

My mother cut my dad's hair for 50 years. I have since taken over but I'm not that good. I'd love to just shave my dad's hair but he won't have it.
I first began shaving my head Christmas Day, 2002, 8 PM. I haven't bought shampoo (for myself) since the year before.
A friend stayed with me once for two weeks while helping me on a remodel. The first night he went to take a shower and rather excitedly came out and asked "Where's your shampoo?" Me: "oh I don't buy that, just use soap like I do." Him: "I CAN'T USE SOAP!"
Turns out I had some of those motel shampoos in the medicine cabinet. My friend was happy.
Should have heard him the next morning when he realized I didn't have any coffee or a coffee maker. SMH!
