I can't wait until the rains stop around here. It's suddenly rainy season... for the last 3 days and the next week or so!
I just bought my first gun in a long time. I've been wanting one for a long time and they were out when I checked several times, but someone on GT remarked that they had just gotten one, so I checked on Amazon the 13th, ordered one and the 3-yr protection plan, and it just arrived!
My Facebook post:

One of my first Stimulus purchases just arrived from Amazon. I had Lysol coated gloves on to receive the larger-boxed package and put it into recycling outside. This is the more powerful version for sturdier bugs than flies. We might have to wait to test it, unless something gets on the screened back porch. Wifey hollers for me to come kill something often. I use the Zapper tennis-racket-looking thing from Harbor Freight, usually... love the sound. This sucker is supposed to work on roaches and wasps and even grasshoppers, etc!

Heard about those and they look fun.

My dad used to do a Karate Kid Master type of thing of catching a sitting fly in his bare hand then throwing it against a wall or into a spider web. With some practice I got so I could do it too.

Yeah, I still do that with flies... fast reflexes, especially for almost 74! :)

How long did the background check take?

SO, IF A FLY LOST IT'S WINGS, WOULD IT BE CALLED A WALK?

Lol - bought three of those to give my kids last Christmas. They do work pretty good according to what they all say.

Maybe some groupings on tinfoil at a few distances when I get a chance. :) I want to go a-salt some bugs, but it's rainy season now! :(

We finally got some rain way down here today. Been threatening for a few days, but finally let loose.
So, does it have cuts for a RMR? Or you just gonna stick a crimson trace on there? JK! : )

Disappointing! I boxed it up for return via Amazon/UPS... it and the protection plan:

<enclosed note>

"Hi. I tried this Bug-A-Salt 2.0 several times and it did not work consistently. I would hold the gun horizontally and shake a little during charging to try to get salt into the chamber.

On firing, results really varied from nothing sprayed, to salt barely making it out the end of the barrel, and varying charges of salt being sprayed, but not effectively. Only a few times did it seem like the gun was working as it should. Even then, at a range of 3-6 inches, the small insect would just be blown away, unhurt by the blast of air. Sometimes with a lowering of the barrel, the salt would just flow out, so I limited myself to horizontal or slightly upward shots.
I never felt like it was working as it should.
I got the protection plan, too, and would like to return that for credit as well. Thanks."

Uh oh! It may be the Florida humidity?

I tried a search for the 3.0 version and the BEST price was directly from the company and using a GOVX.com coupon offered. This newer version has many improvements... sights, safety, and more.
One of the best features is the crossbolt safety that stays where you select... on or off, and doesn't engage EVERY time you charge the gun.
I hope this one works. I didn't get an extended warranty, but I'll certainly check it out quickly.

My Gen1 version works great. I’m sorry to hear that your first one you ordered didn’t work well. I hope that Gen3 works for you!

Ditto for my early one.

The only issue I had involved using Morton Lite Salt. Not a enough butt with that, flies asked just asked for me to tickle them again. Going with regular table salt ended those conversations. ++

Greg

Damn dudes, we be killing'em, not prep'em for the barbie https://www.animatedimages.org/data/media/319/animated-brutal-smiley-image-0258.gif (https://www.animatedimages.org/cat-brutal-smileys-and-smilies-319.htm)

My Gen 1 also worked fine except when left out at night over on vacation, the salt would get damp. I just dump it out when not in use and no issues, have to try it now, been awhile since I played exterminator.

I agree, not prepping for the Barbie.

Course I'm usually shooting at the picnic table so a little seasoning with a blown off wing or two might not hurt the other dishes.

Might be humidity? I have two of 'em - the 2.0 plain & the lawn and garden - and they're great entertainment during family bbqs here in (dry) Northern California.
Not as fun as the CO2 Umarex Walther pistol, though. It requires a fair amount of prep work to load the rotary mags with salt instead of pellets, but the payoff is worth the effort

I don't see how there could have been any effect on fresh salt. I dumped it out and checked it as much as I could, but the salt shouldn't fall out the end of the barrel with a slight dip or nothing at all. I gently shook the gun when charging with no help.

Anyhow, I dropped the prepaid return off at the UPS Store and am awaiting the new and improved version. I think it has a stronger spring, regular sights, smoother trigger, and best of all... the safety won't engage every time you charge the gun... a PITA!

Hopefully I'll have it in a few days while the GIANT grasshoppers are still babies and "tender". All I could do was blow them off their perch unharmed with THAT gun. I'm hoping to be able to kill the adult 3-4" or so grasshoppers with head shots. It will be more fun than using garden shears, though getting mating pairs in one swipe was fun. For flies, the max range is MAYBE 3 feet, so I will be engaging the monster grasshoppers at 6" to a foot... or even POINTBLANK! :D

Amazon does well with returns, but this was ordered from the "factory", so I hope it fulfills my expectations. I want to kill bugs!

Hey! That's an idea, too. I do have one of those Daisy? Semi-Auto CO2 pistols with lots of carts and mags, so I could try that! I know it will have enough power. Maybe some candle wax to form a malleable mix to stick into the cylinders. As "Tim the Tool Man Taylor" always sought... "More Power!"

Maybe you used pistol salt instead of rifle salt. :D

That's an intriguing idea. Would be easier than my method: I use the waste paper circles out of the hole puncher.
I ramrod paper circles into the pellet holes from the back-side with a chop stick, pour salt over the whole mag, ramrod paper circle seals into each pellet chamber, shake off the excess salt, and I'm good to go. Seems to hold the salt well against normal handling, and shoots pretty good. I would welcome a faster, easier method, though.
