I am wanting to purchase a Kahr possibly a PM 9 in the near future. Unfortunately no ranges around me have Kahrs for rent. I've owned and shot handguns for the last 35-40 yrs and not overly sensative to recoil however after shooting a KT PF9 I found it unpleasant to shoot. (is that politically correct). Some of this was recoil but mostly muzzle flip. I shot my brothers PM9 nearly a year ago but don't remember much about it. Maybe that should answer my question because I do remember the PF9. I know the bore axis on the Kahr is lower than the KT which should control muzzle flip to some degree just not sure how much.
:confused:Does anyone here own both or shot both SxS? Just looking for a reference or an opinion as to the difference in felt recoil and muzzle flip between these two. At this point I'd rather shoot a 4" 357 all day than the PF9.
All comments appreciated, I think. :)

I've not shot the KT but I have shot the PM9. If your not sensitive to recoil and perhaps even if you are you should have no issues with the PM9. It's very popular maybe the most popular around here.
If your thinking small carry 9mm I would not hesitate to endorse it myself for what miniscule meaning that might possibly have. I say go for it.

The PM9 has little recoil to me. I have 2,445 rounds through mine and shoot about 200 to 300 rounds each time I go out to the range--no hurt or sore hands. In fact, it's more pleasant to shoot than my .380 Ruger LCP. I don't think I have ever heard anyone mention recoil as an issue on the PM9. I have heard the keltec is not fun to shoot a bunch of rounds.

I've got both the PF9 and the PM9, there is a world of difference between them. I've got somewhat over 2000 rounds through the PM9 and enjoy shooting it and it's one of my main carry guns. The PF9 might have 250 rounds through it, just enough to make sure it will work if need be, it's one of the hide away guns in the house. For me the one big problem with the PF9 is the trigger pull, you could go out to lunch waiting for the gun to shoot.
Any gun as small either of these is going to have more recoil and muzzle flip. One thing you might try if you do buy either gun is a Hogue Handall Grip for better control.

I have small hands and find the PM9 very controllable and not uncomfortable. I have put as many as 140 through it in one range trip and my hands were fine afterward. +1 on the Handall grip. I bought it with the weapon. If you're used to shooting high power handguns the PM9 should be a breeze for you.

I have a CW9, PM9, P380, P9F, P11 and a P3AT.

I would rather shoot the PM9 than the P3AT, not just because of the trigger pull but because the PM9 is much more enjoyable to shoot. The snappy recoil and muzzle flip of the Keltecs is MUCH more severe than what is found in the Kahrs.

I find that after about 20 or so rounds in the P9F, I've had all the fun I can stand. If I remember correctly, I fired around 200 rounds the first time out with the PM9 and only quit because I ran out of bullets!!! I did install the extended magazine finger grip on the PM9 but I don't think that made that much of a difference.

The P380 is a joy to shoot-first time to the range was 200 rounds. Again, quit because I ran out of bullets!

pm9 recoil is snappy yet not to much that you can get good follow up shots, or makes your wrist hurt after 200rds...its perfect

The low bore axis i feel helps alot, might wanna pick up the brooks tactical AGRIP, i have it on several guns and love it. You just have to realize its purpose. Its strictly a defensive gun.

As others have said, the PM9 recoil is mild. The only complaint I had was with the longer mag pinching my hand on recoil. There is a small gap between the gun & the bottom of the mag. I solved that by placing a doubled rubber band around the mag.

IMO the PM9 recoil is mild. Definitely MUCH less than the KTec PF9. I had a PF9 and won't have another. There is a huge difference in how they shoot. If I had the ammo, I could shoot the PM9 all day long. The PF9? A couple mags just to make sure it would run was enough for me. I have bicycle innertubes as grips on my PM9, CW9 and CW45 and that tames the harsh grip on the Kahrs.

For me a simple Glock Sock (a pc of bicycle inner tube stretched over the grip) helps with both recoil and grip.
Without adding bulk or annoying finger bumps, a Glock Sock isolates the texture of the grip from the shooters hand(s) and limits slippage.
Muzzle flip?
Try one of the scandium snubbies with the stock "boot Grip" in .357...OUCH
Tries to jump out of your hands.
I loaded 5 shot 2 and unloaded the rest.
Just sayin'

Thanks for all the responses It really helps and some great suggestions too.Sounds like it's worth a shot so to speak. Now if I can just find my way home (lost again) I can get my hands on one. Keep you posted
Thanks again:D
