I like em cause of the spur hammer and lack of beavertail. Guess I like em with or without the beavertail.
My Remington came very similar to that, I was able to get a wide spur hammer from Kahr that fit perfectly. I do love a wide spur hammer. If I was a better machanic on 1911's I think I'd put them on all mine.
I've heard that Springfield doesn't sell parts, not sure where I heard that and not sure it's all that critical since all the parts interchange with other brands. Just kind of a burr in my saddle I guess.

Nice Army! I was looking at those recently. I’m with dao on old school looks of them. Looks like a good package deal too!

I’ve looked at a few of these over the years, and once had an LDA Carry 9…
Para LDA Companion 45. Just a bit of an odd gun, which I like. Found one at the lgs about a month ago when picking up that RIA. It’s in excellent shape, with 2 original mags, case, papers, etc. I put $ down and will pay the rest in 2 weeks. This is not it in the pics, but it’s exactly like this, down to even the same aftermarket grips. I’m hoping my recently acquired Bawanna Grip Emporium grips will fit it. Can’t wait to get it and see!

They should fit perfect. I made those on my Para Ordnance LDA . I got one just like the picture for one of my Chiefs. He didn't want to carry a Beretta or a Glock like everybody else. Wanted something different. He knew nothing about 1911's and was scary, so I got him the LDA. I have 3, the P13 double stack, the full size single stack and the compact, mine has a beavertail, a little different. I gave the full size single stack (my favorite) to my youngest son when he graduated high school.

Had a hankering for one of those for years. Never got one into the toy box, but the game ain't over yet.
Other than my DW's I haven't yet had the pleasure of owning a CZ. I'd like to, but in my state it's looking less and less likely.
How's the trigger on the LDAs? That stands for Light Double Action, no? Are they like one of the HK LEM variants with the very light DAO setup?

Just a long almost no weight take up, till it hits a wall and then it's exactly like a 1911. Most guys who tried mine didn't like it. Probably the same ones that don't like Kahr triggers. I liked it a lot. A little margin for error for the trigger finger.

Congratulations on the CZ Barth! Last time I went to the range my buddy brought his. It was accurate and fun to shoot with min recoil!
dao, the trigger seemed pretty much like the Colonel described. I did a few pulls in the store and I did like it. Kinda like a stageable 1911 trigger.
Colonel, that's great news about the grips. Yipee! Had no idea you were a Para lover. I geuss I got really lucky scoring those grips then! 😁

Well, function checked the CZ 75 Compact with 50 Federal HST 124 +P, 50 Winchester Ranger T 147 (Plus ~20 HST 147) and 100 124/147 FMJs.
Gun ran flawless right out of the box!
Seems to group better with 124 gr ammo.
Very soft shooting with the steel frame.
It's another case of do as I say and not as I do.
I always say "shoot the stock gun before you start doing modifications".
Then I'll buy a gun and start buying third party stuff before even getting the gun :p
Put the SS CGW guide rod in the gun.
The CZ Custom OEM rubber grips didn't fit?
I think the PCR guns come with rubber grips.
And the aluminum frame is a little thicker than the steel.
Oh Well.
Also got CGW Short Reset Kit and Slide Stop.
Almost ordered their hammer kit.
But after shooting the stock gun I'm thinking I'll just leave it alone.
The DA is a bit heavy, but the single action is crisp and clean.
Should have waited.
And I knew better.
But the gun feels and shoots great!
I also really like the safety.
And am seriously thinking of carrying cocked and locked.
Very happy I got the - all steel classic DA/SA with safety CZ 75 Compact
Already got 6 Sig DA/SA aluminum framed de-cocker guns.
This CZ, cocked and locked, is kind of like an inexpensive 2019 Commander 9mm :)
Oh, It actually came with NS too!
Not the best, but they work.
Bottom Line:
Very impressed with this classic CZ handgun.
It's nice to get back to an all-steel, hammer fired gun from the plastic fantastic striker stuff so popular these days.

congrats on the CZ. The targets that came with mine showed they test fired it with 124 gr. S&B and mine runs good with it too.
If you Put the lighter hammer spring in (I think it’s the blue one) you’ll like the DA better. Then if you take some 1000 or 1200 grit sand paper and lightly smooth the flat surfaces on the hammer sear, the trigger bar, and the flats on the sides of the hammer and with the lighter hammer spring the single action will be slick as ice. I’ve reduced my CZ collection to only 3 now, a P-01, and 2 aluminum frame CZ clones that take CGW parts. One is a PCR clone and the other one like a Jericho 941 clone with an aluminum frame. One advantage of the safety version is it is much easier to work on.

I've already bought a bunch of CGW parts for the gun.
It shoots great out of the box.
Was thinking I'd just leave it alone.
But I've read so much about how the trigger can be improved.
That after a night's sleep.
I just broke down and decided to go with all the Cajun Gun Works stuff.
So, fingers crossed, it comes back improved.

My first pistol was Glock 17. It was fascinating moment of purchase. I was happy as a child.
The Glock 17 felt satisfyingly heavy in my hands, a cool metal counterpoint to the nervous excitement bubbling in my chest.
The drive to the shooting range was filled with a nervous anticipation. Would I handle it well? Would the recoil be too much? These questions danced in my head, but they were quickly overshadowed by pure exhilaration as I loaded the magazine. Each click was a tiny victory, a step closer to unleashing the power I held.
Leaving the range, a wide grin stretched across my face. The nervous energy had melted away, replaced by a deep sense of satisfaction.

The green finish on those doesn't hold up for beans. Officer at the PD had one and in no time it lookes like it'd been drug behind the truck. Para didn't want to do anything about it.

I have 3 LDA's and love them but they are all stainless. Actually the one is two tone, black and stainless, looks cool. That's the one my son got. Actually that's a bald faced lie to, my compact is stainless. The double stack P13 is blued. Just never had a green one myself.

I worried over the 'no fit' reviews of the CZ Custom rubber grips for the full-size CZ75, but went ahead anyway, and although the install took a bit of squeezing & poking, I much prefer the rubbers over the original hard plasticky ones. Much better friction and comfort.
Bummer they don't fit the compact.

Yup, I really like how they look and feel.
But they just don't fit well (not tight and flush).
I've read the alloy frames are thicker than the steel ones.
So I was worried about it.
I orders some of these instead and have fingers crossed :)

Guy on the Addicts board made a recoil spring plug out of a .45 shell casing. So I made on too. Pretty cool. But then I got to thinking....
These fit so tight I had to use a plastic drift tool to "press" them in place. Don't know if they'll stay put yet but the next step would be epoxy if they don't. I kind of like them.

I like ‘em dao! Funny you speak of epoxy, I just poured my 1st set epoxy grips last night (rough start).
How did you cut the 45 casings down?
What is this cutting you're speaking of? I just drilled a hole in each. They extend through the grip and into the cutout of the frame. Turned my 1911 into a single shot, but who needs more than one round of God's Caliber?
Actually I used a reinforced dremel cutoff wheel. Those casings are more substantial than they look. And who wants to reload after every shot?
Can't wait to see your new grips Bird. What are they going to be for?

Funny stuff! 😎
The 1st grips are going to be officer sized. The first set will be to sand, grind and refine to actually make a final mold. Not even sure what I’m going to do yet, but may even be a side gig in retirement. Whole goal is to make them cover the frame fully, front to rear, where other grip makers do not seem to do that.
The clay I used reacted with the silicone, leaving a rough, lumpy texture. I'll get these in shape and patched up and then hope to show you some nice finished pair(s).

That's the model we got for one of my PD Chiefs. Only one I ever ran across that didn't like Wilson mags. It ran fine with the Para mags. Mine which is the same but has a beavertail runs fine on Wilson mags.
I remember those grips well, they'd still be on mine if I didn't have the Ivory Hippo tooth on it. I never shoot it, have it in a class case where I can drool on it with a few others. Bought it the day my dad passed as a grieving gun. The wrap around the safety tube on those I really liked. It's the way I generally try to make em if there isn't a long extended thumb safety. They are thin.
I just might have to make me a display stand, I made on that holds a couple but I think I can do better if I work at it.

I bet you could make an incredible looking stand with your wood working skills! Hippo tooth? Never heard or seen. That’s pretty cool. Are they old? I bet they cost a pretty penny either way.
Yes, I love the little grips and that plunger tube covering they do. Well worth investing in some different bushings and screws to be able to get them on there. Interesting back story on why/when you got your Para. I understand why you’d want to display it.
Very nice Bird! I'm drooling here. Officer size is just so right (for me). Still hoping to find a high quality steel frame 9mm.

Very nice Bird! I'm drooling here. Officer size is just so right (for me). Still hoping to find a high quality steel frame 9mm.
Thanks dao! Did you ever look into Fusion’s offerings? I am seriously considering saving up for one of their longslide 1911’s. I had given thought to adding to my SA collection with a standard 6” or the V16, then of course polishing it. BUT, given the initial investment and then all of that work… the Fusion is looking pretty good. They have a CCO that I would love to own, but that long slide would have to come first as I’ve never had one and have wanted one for a bit.

And just pointing them out. Not trying to push you into one.

Thanks and WOW Barth! That CZ is gorgeous! Question: What is the slide and frame. If the slide is stainless and the frame is stainless or alloy, you could repeat that look and have it be even more durable with a good polish job. Either way, I’m droolin on that CZ!

Hippo tooth is Ivory. A member here sent me the tooth and I made him a set that he had scrimshawed. Got two other sets out of the tooth as well. Hard to work with. Thought I'd posted pics here not long ago.

Ah, yes you did. I am slipping a bit here then sir. Both of those sets look very nice and I remember drooling over them when you posted (I remember you speaking of the smell). Good to know you can craft bone. I’m still considering purchasing and sending you some Mother Of Pearl scales one day. Maybe an expensive experiment, but if pulled off Bawanna style then some incredible grips would be birthed into this world! I hope you and I both can get together on that one day, if you are game for it.
The bobbed one’s, I would have never guessed. I would have thought to be some sort of stabilized or spalted somethinganother. Short of the mammoth stuff, how much rarer can you get than hippo tooth? I bet you wish you still had access to some of that stuff.

The bobbed ones are stabilized box elder burl. Very nice, think I still have those. I just took the picture of the tooth with that gun probably cause I was wearing it that day.
I have checked out Fusion closely Bird. But the thing that has kept me from them is the shortage of youtube videos on them. I still can't figure out why that is, they've been around long enough. But the strange lack of them, and therefore feedback is a bit concerning.

The entire gun is stainless (slide and frame)
I believe they had two All Stainless models.
One had a matte stainless finish and the other came from the factory a with high polished stainless finish.

I think the Walrus tooth is also ivory. Don't the eskimo's carve those into some pretty cool stuff? We don't got Walrus's in these parts, got sea lions but while they eat salmon like crazy I don't think they got big enough teeth.
I never looked for it online, might be one of those not legal to sell these days.
Bawanna

Well I found out Walrus ivory is illegal in many states including here in Washington. I found out what a Ironwood tree looks like, kind of surprising it's really bushy and not surprisingly it doesn't get very big around. A person can buy Ironwood tree seeds and possibly seedlings. but don't imagine it would grow big enough for my purposes in the time I have left to make sawdust. I'll keep looking for nice pieces.

I was wondering about the legality. Is it like elephant, where you can own it, but can not sell it without proof of it being of pre-ban age?
Bawanna

It's funny, you can buy stuff carved out of ivory but not just plain ivory. I know elephant has been banned for a long time. The hippo tooth is also now on the list. The pieces I got must have been from long ago. I don't recall where he said he got it but it was completely legal at the time.
Looking there were lots of faux ivory grips for reasonable. Some looked pretty nice and very much like the real thing. Others not so much.

Before I was born, my Dad & family were stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska 1940-42 (then he was in the Aleutian Campaign in 1943).
Dad collected these walrus tusks & artifacts while up there.
1 raw tusk, 1 tusk carved & scrimshawed into a cribbage board, a meat carving handle set, polar bear salt & pepper shakers, & other little items.
They are all owned by my brother who was born there before all dependents were evacuated Stateside after the Japanese invaded the Aleutian Islands.

Yes, it is a part of his birthright.
My special gift from Dad was this 1865 Henry rifle he bought while we were living in Mexico during the early 1960s (he had a second career there after retiring from the US Army).
Like half of the antique lever guns he bought down there, this one was Bubba’d (Pedro’d?) pretty bad - barrel shortened, cobbled up rear sight, and battered butt stock. The lever action is still smooth though.

Despite what you’ve described as what may be it’s “collector””shortcoming's, just knowing that “the old man” bought it, cherished it… Nothing can come close. What I’ve read you saying about things you have given/will leave to the clan… continuing the tradition. Too many these days do the “I’m spending my grandkids inheritance” thing. That’s a real shame. I want my bloodline to have an edge with all of the bs they will face. Good on ya for that man!

One of the original looking Henry's without the forend is very high on my list, also very high on the piggy bank requirement list too. Hence not in my toy box yet and possibly never will be. But I've always said if you want something bad enough you'll find a way. So far that hasn't worked for me with Reba Mcintyre, she still doesn't return my calls and apparently likes that other guy. Not over yet.

When I had my P2K in .40 I also had a P2KSK in 9mm. The reason I let them go was because the grips just didn't feel right to me without sleeves. And I don't like sleeves. Especially after I held a P30. So now I've replaced them with a P30 and a P30SK, also in .40 and 9mm respectively. But I like the looks of the P2K family much better. I've got some picatinny rail covers coming. They're supposed to be a slim profile and I'm hoping they will cover the rails on my current HKs without adding any bulk to the front end. It shouldn't matter but looks are important to me when it comes to firearms. I guess that's why I've been drawn to 1911s late in life. Before I did my P30SK was my goto carry. Great little package.

The P30 is a nice feeling firearm. One time while the wifey and I were gun window shopping, I had her handle a P30. We had looked at many, many guns that day. Out of all of the firearms we handled, she said that she liked the feel of a Model 10 S&W and the P30 the best. I like the feel of my P2SK. I have tried Pachmayr grip sleeves and Gripsaver sleeves, but they never quite stay in place. They need to make them a bit tougher/smaller to get on and even then, I don't know if they would stay in place. A while back I decided to put some Talon's on. I've had them before and really liked them. The old ones were getting a bit worn out. A bit pricey for a decal but I really like the feel and they don't bulk up the grip.

There's definitely something special about a classic 1911.
Going shooting with my mom and dad next Sunday.
My mother doesn't like the size/weight of my dad's Ruger Speed Six 357.
So, he got a Taurus mid-sized 38 special (not sure of the model).
I bought some Hornady Critical Defense 110 gr FTX ammo for them.
We will give the revolver a spin LOL!
I'm bringing my Dan Wesson V-Bob 45 along for the ride
Can't seem to get enough of shooting that gun ...
My new CZ 75 Compact is at the gunsmith getting selected Cajun Gun Works parts installed.
I was thinking about an action job too.
Seemed to me that cracking the gun open, disassembling, polishing and reassembling.
Would be the same labor even with swapping the CGW parts for OEM?
The gunsmith agreed and I'm getting a package deal of both for $125 :D
The factory SA was sweet already and the gun is a tack driver.
Really looking forward to how it runs Cajunized!
I got lucky with the parts too.
Was going to just get the defensive package, but it was out of stock.
So, I selected and bought the parts I wanted separately.
I'm going with the OEM Trigger Return Spring rather than the CGW Light version.
Should give me a more positive reset and a slightly heavier SA pull.
Very Excited :p

I came very close to buying a decocker model (PCR / P01).
It seems like those are some of the most popular versions for concealed carry - being DA/SA, having a decocker and an aluminum frame.
But I've already got five Sig Sauer DA/SA decocker guns with aluminum frames (and one all steel P220 ST).
Also, I've read that the safety guns have slightly better triggers.
So, I decided to go with a Classic 75 Compact DA/SA with a safety and a steel frame.
It's a little on the heavy size, but has a wonderful SA trigger and is super soft shooting
The CZ 75 has been a Bucket List gun for me for some time :D
That would be my choice as well. With a good holster the extra weight while carrying won't be noticed nearly as much as the softer recoil. And you can carry condition one, with a better trigger. What's not to like?

The gun seems group better with 124 gr ammo.
The extra weight makes 124 +P defensive loads a real pussycat to shoot.
And I really like the safety for condition one carry.
Agree that with a quality belt and holster it should be no problem to carry.
I'm super pleased with the firearm ;)

Well, I now better understand hand fitting in a 1911. I ordered a bunch of EGW parts for my Garrison. I needed to take a bit off the end of the full length guide rod in order to clear the barrel bushing when turning the latter over the tip to lock it. I had them custom fit the blued bbl bushing to the specs I sent them. Great folks to work with.
I've at least temporarily had to shelve the idea of using a full length guide rod because my wrench slipped while turning the bushing and the reverse plug went shooting off, and I haven't been able to find it. My little shop is in what we call our schoolroom because our kids did their schooling there for many years while my wife homeschooled them. She is very sentimental and has saved so much of their work and projects that the plug is not to be found, and I looked for an hour.
But the real challenge in the new parts was the oversized firing pin stop I bought for the gun. I had to file and hone on that part for about an hour to first get it to slide into the gun, and then to take some material off so that when installed it would slide over the ejector. I don't mind because I enjoy the challenges, and learn at the same time. My goal was to replace all the MIM parts except for the beavertail, which I've now done. Along with the trigger, barrel bushing, mag release, slide stop and thumb safety I replaced the hammer, hammer strut and pin, the sear, and the disconnector.
I was also thinking of turning it into a bobtail but the MSH I had for it is from a Sig Fastback, and its profile would not allow for enough of the old pin hole to be removed. I'll check it with the actual Ed Brown stainless MSH I have and intend to use on my Tisas Carry, but for now I'm dead in the water for that mod on this gun. Strangely the other Sig bobtail MSH I have, fit perfectly on my Kimber KHX Pro, which is a round butt from the factory albeit with a MSH that bears a smooth surface. I've also come to learn that not all bobtail and round butt MSH's are created equally.
Fun times!

Man, he kept that lil target spinning! Pretty cool!
I broke down and ordered another plug Bird. I'll find the original one as soon as the new one shows up.
Bobbed my Tisas Carry today. Colonel I didn't send for your jig because of my drill press. It has enough runout that I believed I'd be ruining the jig by rounding the hole. So I bought one which I felt was going to be disposable. And it is, now. The original hole is no longer 5/32" on either side. Strangely though the pin fits very tightly. Probably because the two holes in the frame are just sliightly offset. What a nerve wracking process! I don't think I'm going to do the Garrison. At least not until such time as I find myself a better drill press. Which will probably be never.
The original holes are still partially visible, but not as much as the ones on the Garrison would have been with the Sig Fastback Carry MSH I wanted to make work.
All in all it turned out pretty well. There are some marks on the frame around the holes that won't sand out, but they're covered by the grips, so who's to know? And I'm happy with it :)

“I'll find the original one as soon as the new one shows up.”
That’s usually how things work out for me too.
Man, the Tisas looks great. If someone did not know, the old/remaining pin hole portions go right in line with the msh slots, so looks like it could have been a factory thing. I too would not sweat anything about that as it really does look great. Those grips are cool too. Almost snake belly looking.
Thanks Bird. I'm plenty happy with it. I got the grips used on the addicts site. I'd never seen another set like them, and like you I think they look like snake skin.
With a quality drill press, unlike mine, and with a larger table on it, again unlike mine, bobbing these with that jig would be a pretty easy job. I was surprised at how soft the metal is, filing it down after cutting the corners with a dremel cutoff wheel was a breeze. I had quite a bit of trouble getting the Dewalt bits I used to go through the frame, so I figured the filing would be tougher than it turned out to be.

Dremel cutoff wheel. That would work nicely. I used a hacksaw. I find I can mess things up pretty quickly using power tools, course I can mess up pretty quickly not using power tools too.
The Tisas looks great.
A detective from my old PD bought one of those Challis bushing tools I'm too cheap to buy. Said he used it once, didn't need it any more and felt I'd use it more than him so he's gonna give it to me. So now I guess I only have to buy the slim bushing tool and I'll have both. Life is good.

Fun times! It sure looks nice to me as is......................
If you use a dremel to cut off metal on something like this I would strongly recommend using one of their reinforced wheels, and not one of the orange/brown wheels. The brown ones can come apart very easily and they do wear down quickly. The reinforced wheel I used barely lost any material to cut both sides of the frame.
I had it in my head to use the jig's hole to keep the bit from wobbling on the bottom hole. I positioned everthing with the 5/32" bit over the jig's hole and then pulled that bit out and used a #2 Center Drill for make a pilot hole and chamfer it, before putting the 5/32" bit back in to run the hole through. That chamfer kept the bit from walking. The top hole drilled out very quickly and cleanly. I then went down through the jig and started on the bottom hole. What I should have done instead at that point was to remove the frame, flip the jig over, and do the hole in that side the same way I did the first hole. If I had it would have saved the jig from being abused. The bit did not play well on that bottom hole because it was bumping into the edge of the MSH channel, causing it to bounce around before getting the hole past it. And because the further from the chuck the more runout of the bit. By coming at the frame from the outside for BOTH holes I would have avoided that issue, and the jig would still have 5/32" holes in it. Live and learn. Sometimes the hard way.
Still, for a $50 jig, and the $40 I paid for the Ed Brown MSH on the 1911Forum I essentially paid $90 to have the frame bobbed. I couldn't have had it done for that if I had farmed it out.

Just ordered Dawson FO front sights for my Garrison and RIA Officer. Knowledgeable and helpful folks to work with, and the prices can't be beat.
I'm not in the market for a .22 of any type, was just curious about the difference. I'm also not particularly recoil sensitive so that wouldn't impact any decision. I was asking mainly to gauge the potential effectiveness of each round.

After carrying my original 2008 LCP for over 14 years and purchasing two others for family gifts, I was on the verge of buying one like yours with the stainless slide.
However, the introduction of the LCP Max put that on the back burner (for now).
I’ve bought two black Maxes and one stainless. Gave one of the black ones away and the other is my EDC. As soon as I get the stainless Max broken in, it’ll take that job.
Still have one 2nd Gen LCP (made in Prescott) that is NIB.
Am sure somebody in the family will latch onto it.

They have done me right in the past. When I polished that K9, I went through 3 sets of sights (wanted fiber optics) that would not fit. I sent Dawson the originals, they sent back the perfect set. I will use them again in a heartbeat if I ever find myself unsure of what to use. Fantastic customer service in my opinion. Looking forward to seeing yours!
For anyone interested Tisas (SDS Imports, tisasusa.com) is having a 15% off sale on any in stock items in honor of Veteran's Day. I snagged a complete set of sights, black u-notch rear and green FO front for my Tisas Carry, for less than $60 shipped.
So, with the front FO sights I ordered from Dawson I'll be installing better sights on 3 slides this coming week.

Just picked up my new CZ 75 Compact from its trip to the gunsmith.
Had CGW Short Reset Kit and Race Hammer installed during an action job.
The gunsmith only charged me $125 for the action job and threw in the CGW parts installation for free!
OMG the double action is like butter!!!
I've got several Sig guns with SRT kits and action jobs.
But the Cajunized CZ blows them away!
Single action has no mush and is crisp and clean.
But it's the DA pull that's out of this world
Was planning on carrying "cocked and locked".
Now I'm not so sure. Need some live fire to make that choice.
Bought two sets of grips -
Cool Hand CZ 75 85 Compact Size Palm Swell G10
LOK CZ 75 Palm Swell Bogies
The color of the Cool Hand look better on the gun.
But the LOKs are slightly thicker with a little more palm swell and are more aggressive texture.
I'm going with the LOKs :)
Reserved a lane at the gun range for 9:15 Am Sunday to open fire.

Congratulations Barth! Sounds like one sweet pistola!
Barth, I'm looking forward to hearing a range report. When you say the DA is "out of this world", do you mean like a Kahr but lighter? Or different from that?
Sounds like it might be like an HK LEM? I can't base that on anything I know because I've never had or felt the LEM variant but it is supposed to be light and smooth also. Regardless, having a DA/SA with a DA pull that you like that much would be a great thing. Congrats on getting that work done, and for such a good price too!.

I've got a trigger gauge inbound to check.
I'm guessing it's around 8 lbs DA and 4 lb SA.
The DA is just very smooth and glassy with no stacking and a clean break.
Feels very much like my tuned S&W revolver double actions.
Kahr, at least my MK40 Elite, is actually a striker fired gun with the striker already cocked.
It's not really a double action trigger at all IMHO.
The CZ trigger isn't lighter, but it's a true double action trigger.
HK LEM is sort of a unique animal.
It's a hammer fired DA/SA gun.
But the hammer has two pieces and under normal operation the cocking piece remains cocked even though the hammer is down.
The result is a same pull every time single action (about 5 lbs) with full double action (about 8 lbs?) second strike capability.
There is a very long, very light pre-travel to a wall.
Then a SA like 5 lbs break.
For me, it's like getting striker trigger like performance from a hammer fired gun.
It will be interesting to use the trigger gauge on my tuned Sig P220/P229/P239 guns.
And my S&W revolvers for that matter.
It's the buttery smooth glassy double action of the CZ that really impresses.
It's very close to my S&W M65-3 K Frame 357 trigger.
And that's saying something.
Bought that gun LNIB for $525 and have no idea what may have been done to it ...
I did let the gun shop guy try the CZ DA trigger and he was blown away :D
Yes, the Kahr is striker fired, and partially pre-cocked. However for all intents and purposes it feels most like a DA revolver. I was wondering if the DA pull on your hammer fired CZ felt like the DA pull on your striker fired Kahr. Or if your CZ felt like what I've heard HK LEM's described as. The LEM is not a DA/SA gun. It is DAO gun. But not like the DAK of a Sig. Right?
Installed front FO sights on my Garrison and RIA today, and a full set on my Tisas (from Tisas), with a blacked out U-notched rear and an FO front.
Can't make up my mind if the green or the red shows up better. I lean toward the green, however my wife said she sees the red as brighter.

That's not my understanding of it.
I'm not sure how to explain LEM.
It's not DAO.
The hammer is a two-piece affair.
With the hammer down and without racking the slide it's a DA/SA gun.
You get the standard heavy first trigger pull, with a light trigger on follow up shots.
But when you rack the slide the cocking piece part of the trigger stays cocked.
Even though the external hammer comes back down the cocking piece is still cocked.
In this mode you have a very long, very light trigger pull, up to a wall.
Then a light about 5 lbs SA like trigger pull.
And the same exact 5 lbs SA like trigger pull on follow up shots.
The cocking piece is pre-cocked (like a striker) in normal operation making the first pull SA like.
If you pull the trigger and the round does not fire, the slide doesn't drive back and extract the round,
then the cocking piece is not pre-cocked anymore.
Now you have second strike capability with a standard heavy double action trigger.
I hope that makes any sense at all.
There are videos and discussions on the net on how LEM functions.
The MK40 trigger is lighter maybe?
But being a pre-cocked striker, to me, there's no discernable wall and very little feel to it.
A real DA revolver has a different feel to me.
The CZ has closer to a true DA revolver feel to me :)

The bold parts are where I think we don't agree. AFAIK there is no SA function in an LEM. They are only a DA trigger. What you are describing sounds like the DAK (Double Action Kellerman), that SIG produced, but LEM's don't work that way. Or at least I don't think they do.
Kahr strikers are not fully cocked when the slide cycles. They are only partically cocked, and then the trigger pulls them back the rest of the way. That's the reason they "resemble" a revolver action in the feel of the trigger.

Maybe a better way to put it is - LEM is a DAO trigger with two pull weights.
One heavy and the other lite with a partial pre-cock.
Although in normal operation you would never feel the heavy trigger pull.
There are also variants of LEM (V1, V2, V4.1 ... for P Series guns) with various trigger pull weights.
Mine are all Light LEM which is about 4.5 lbs (my HK45c is gunsmith measured at 3.9 lbs).
The trigger has a very long lite pre-travel, followed by a distinct wall and then a crisp break.
IMHO that's certainly SA like to me :)
My Kahr striker gun doesn't resemble a revolver action to me in any way.
Even only partially cocked, for me, there's no sensation of cocking anything.
It's super lite with no feel to it at all.
No wall with a surprise break.
The Kahr and HK LEM are, to me, unique trigger systems unlike any other guns I own.
Although the descriptions of the Para Ordnance LDA trigger, by the Colonel, sound similar to LEM :)
The CZ 75 Compact is an Old School classic DA/SA semi-auto with an exemplary DA trigger (after tuning)

Well, you own them and I don't, so I'm gonna have to change my understanding to what you've experienced. Thanks for the info!
I would also someday like to handle one of the CZ, or make that two, one factory and one like yours that has been cajun-ized. I've lightened the hammer spring of many of my Berettas and HKs and thought the DA pull was great, and followed by crisp SA followup shots. But it sure sounds like the CZ could put all of them to shame! Congrats again on getting some work done that is entirely satisfactory.

I own a few CZ's. The Shadow 2, probably has a better trigger than Barth's. DA is around 6#, single is a out 3#, from the factory. But it is a comp gun. My PCR has slowly gotten better, after a few thousand rounds, CZ's tend to get smoother. I have thought of getting trigger/action work on my SP01, but it is so good from the factory, after break in , why pay for it.
I will admit, my PCR which is a DA/SA with decocker was not as nice, but it only has about 3000 rounds so far.

I've read that the Shadow 2 is "best of the best" for the CZ guns, right out of the box.
Really came close to buying a Shadow 2 Compact.
But as I was looking for a carry gun.
Was concerned that the trigger might be too light for carry (for me anyway).
I've had super lite triggers with super short resets in the past and got unintended double taps
Seems like ~4 lbs for SA is the sweet spot for me :D
(The Truth About Guns tested a DW Valor at 4.25 lbs, and I love my V-Bob).
I even vacillated over lightening the 75 Compact trigger for the same reason.
Honestly the factory trigger seemed really good to me right out of the box :)
I just had to see what all the fuss was about with these Cajunized guns and took a leap of faith.
In dry fire the SA doesn't feel super lite (hair trigger) or the reset ultra short, I think it will work.
I did keep the factory TRS rather than using the CGW lite TRS for a slightly heavier SA.
Plan on sending a few hundred rounds down range tomorrow and find out.
Also have concerns about lite primer strikes too.
The gunsmith did fire 10 rounds as a function check.
Wish me Luck!
Update:
I've also been worried the CZ 75 being all steel might be too heavy to carry as well.
Almost bought a PCR for that reason.
Just made a grocery run and found the CZ Compact very comfortable to carry!
Just like trigger pulls, there's definitely a "sweet spot" for weight of a loaded carry gun and spare mags.
This feels like that sweet spot for me.
A quality belt and holster really make a difference.
And I find ballistic nylon dual mag pouches, worn in the horizontal position, makes for very comfortable carry of 15 round high cap mags.
Also conceals better I feel.
Super Happy so far with my new gun.
All my worrying for nothing - LOL!

Well, back from the range.
45 HST 124 +Ps ran fine.
50 Geco?!? has one failure (didn't cycle)?
50 Blazer Brass ran fine.
I'm thinking the failure is ammo related
That's like two boxes of HST with a bunch of S&B/Blazer without issues???
Maybe the new parts breaking in? IDK
I've got three mags and six more arriving Tuesday, so I'll wring it out.
Had a few unintended double taps as I feared.
I think I instinctively ride the reset, and with a short reset and lite trigger this happens.
I'll get a lot more trigger time and see if I can sort that out.
If not, maybe a heavy TRS is in order.
DA is great and usable for Self Defense (no need for cocked and locked).
The new LOK Hand Swell Bogies feel fantastic

Yup,Yup, I'm almost certain to retire sometime next year.
Truth be told I'm stocking up on guns and ammo now while I still have a six-figure income and paid health insurance.
Once I cross that line (retire) I truly am planning on trying to get by with the guns I've got.

Yah, my Dan Wesson V-Bob is about 4.25# and is about as light as I can go for a carry gun.
My CZ 75 Compact, with an action job and CGW parts, now measures 4.0# SA / 11.0 DA#.
IMHO it's SA is 1911 like.
And I am getting occasional double taps with the light, short reset, trigger.
I did take note on your description of the full-size Shadow 2 trigger you have @ ~3.5# SA.
With that in mind, I've chosen to go in a different direction with my S2C.
I'm having an action job with the following kit installed -
Action Enhancement Kit for CZ Shadow 2 (apextactical.com) (https://www.apextactical.com/apex-cz-75-shadow-2-hammer-kit)
It's actually designed to increase the SA while reducing the DA :)
Delivers a clean, consistent single-action style trigger break while providing a smooth stack-free double action.
Approximately 6 lb. DA with 4 lb. SA using Carry Mainspring.
With some trigger time, that should be about perfect for me

On Saturday I scratched an itch. Sportsman Guide had a Keltec SUB 2000 gen 3 in 9mm on sale. I know, I know a Keltec. Took it to the range on Sunday and put just under 100 rounds through it with no failures. Was a bit surprised at first with recoil. Zeroed the CT red dot for home protection.

At least one model has a threaded barrel for a can, right?

I was looking for either a Sig P238 SAS, P238 Legion, or one of these. After about a week of looking here and there this is all that I found. Not disappointed at all. I had a P938 SAS, (it and the P238 SAS have the same color combination as the Kimber CDP's), that I shined the slide up on. I came to regret that after awhile because I felt that the matte stainless look just "fit" better with the black frame and red grips than the polished slide did. I'll leave this one as is.

I’ve had my share of mini Sig 1911’s, but no .380’s other than the P238. I very much understand why you were looking for one. I still say/will always say that the P238’s (I had a few) for me had the best ergonomics (when with the Hogue grip), were the most accurate, best running (no failures, which I had with pretty much every other .380, due to my grip usually, unless we are talking about the 2 Mustangs I tried to love, but would not run) and overall just a joy to shoot or have others shoot (3 people I taught to shoot bought P238’s after I worked them through various other pistols). Why do I not have one as a b.u.g? Thumb safety, a bit too much (width & weight) for the pocket, only “fit” well with the extended/pinky grip mag, just too dang tiny to grab out of a hip holster. Would I buy one again? Absolutely! I regret not having one. If I were to take a new shooter to the range I would regret it even more. I hope you enjoy the lil Kimber as much as I did the P238’s!!!
My wife has a P238 SAS. I can't remember if I've shot it or not but she sure likes it. She started with a PM9 which she shot very well, but doesn't have the grip strength to charge it. She also has a P938 which she also likes but I think the 238 is what she favors. I have a P380 which is arguably just too small for me, but it has been my "no excuses" gun for a long time. Because I've since gotten so heavily into SAO guns and 1911s in particular I'm hoping my Micro will become my new take it anywhere gun. I have another Micro that I've never carried and like the 238 I can get a full grip on it with the 7rd mag, which is something I cannot do with the P380. The one I have, a Micro Eclipse is really an investment gun but this Micro will be carried so long as it runs right. Another important thing (to me), about the CDP is that it has ambi safeties which is something I wanted in my BUG so that I can use it left handed if the need arises.
This is not mine, and I won't be bidding on it. Right now it's at $350. A very nice looking Commander, and it's good to see that someone besides Tisas is offering what looks to be an affordable, quality built gun of this type. And this one should be near and dear to our hearts. Beautiful reproduction.

That unless someone is very lucky will climb immensely in the day that it has left. Buy now price of 699 is still a good price. Hopefully someone will get lucky and it will go unnoticed. Wish it was me. I love that thing.
I think the $699 will be about the street price Colonel. I'd love to see Kahr step up their 1911 game and start coming out with new models.
I decided to go ahead and try to bob my Garrison. I had to center the jig with an 11/32" bit into the left side of the jig, then mount the gun and swap the bit out to the normal 5/32". And that worked pretty well. I then flipped the jig and gun over to do the other side. If I had flipped them the first time I used it I wouldn't have ruined the jig as I did. I still had to work on the holes with a chamfer bit to relieve enough material to allow the pin to slide through, because the holes were still a bit off from each other. But it ended up turning out pretty well, and better than the Tisas. I also kept the table and drill press vice up closer to the head of the press, eliminatiing most of the runout. If I was doing this as a business I'd have to have a much better drill press. As well as these turned out I still wouldn't feel right about taking somebody's money for the jobs.
The MSH I used is for a Sig Nightmare Fastback. I picked it up on eBay for $10, complete. So it's more or less dedicated to this gun now.

I'm prett well covered with Magnum Research 1911's and love them all. Going forward I'll be focusing on Auto Ordnance if there's time and loot ever becomes available. Both of course owned by Kahr.
Auto Ordnance seems to stay pretty original 1911 oriented which to me is not a bad thing.
So many guns, so little loot and time.
My latest MRI 1911U has landed as a full time belt rider. I like it a lot. Goes on first thing, comes off last thing. Constant companion.

Well, I'm loving my new CZ 75 Compact.
Except it's misbehaving:(
I've got around 500 rounds through it.
And about 1 in 100 I'm getting what appears to be a dead trigger.
Round ejects, next one loads, and the slide fully returns to battery.
The hammer is fully cocked, safety is off, and the trigger will not release the hammer!
I can rack the slide, ejecting the unfired round, reload the same round in the mag and shoot it fine.
It's happened sporadically, with Geco/Blazer Brass/Winchester Nato 124 FMJs.
Ran about 70 Federal HST 124s fine, but it seems to sh!ts the bed >100 rounds.
This was to be a self-defense gun and that's just unacceptable.
I thought about taking it back to the original gunsmith.
But it seems like a hammer/sear/timing issue that might better be addressed by an expert.
I do have CZ Custom in Mesa nearby, so I drove over there to see if they might be willing to fix it.
No surprise, they don't like Cajun Gun Works parts and won't install/repair them.
Only recommendation by the gunsmith was to replace the CGWs parts with CZ Custom parts.
I'm having that done as we speak.
I really love this gun and need to get it sorted out

I’m having angst about my MP45 2.0. It took some polishing work to get a smooth trigger pull. It dry fires nice, but in live fire it’s kind of a handful. Maybe I’m getting wimpy. It’s satisfyingly accurate, but not pleasing to shoot. It also fails to strip a round out of the mag occasionally. And the 10 round mags only hold 9. So I may reluctantly part ways with it.
Being a revolver junkie, maybe it’s time for a .45ACP revolver.

My thoughts for what it's worth -
As LE transitioned from revolvers to semi-automatics,
many officers missed and longed for the performance of the venerable 357 Magnum.
In the field, junkyard dogs and felons on drugs just seems to anchor better with the Magnum round.
They wanted a semi-auto with that kind of performance.
Sig, in partnership with Federal, realized that by necking down a 40 S&W cartridge
they could duplicate 357 Magnum 4"-barrel 125 gr @ 1,450 fps performance.
The 357 Sig round was born
That's why I'm such a big fan.
Microsoft showed the world how important first to market can be.
40 S&W beat 357 Sig to market.
Also, the 357 Sig bottle neck cartridge was more expensive to produce.
And in full power runs at a higher pressure than 40 S&W.
Real or perceived, 357 Sig was viewed as having more recoil and concussion than 40 S&W.
Also, it seemed the full power higher pressure round was wearing out guns quicker.
In response most all large ammunition manufacturers watered down 357 Sig to 1,350 fps.
I'm guessing approximating 40 S&W pressure.
IMHO that erased the real advantage of 357 Sig :(
Now you've got two cartridges that perform very much the same.
With 357 Sig being more expensive and 40 S&W already owning a large share of the market.
The 357 Sig round never really caught on and has become much like 10mm (niche market).
Today you have to go with small expensive companies (Underwood, CorBon, DoubleTap ...) to get full power 357 Sig Performance.
Note: My preferred carry load is Underwood GDHP 125 gr @ 1,475 fps.
https://media.velocityammosales.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/149.png
Yep, I get all that. I frequent other boards as well, and it seems like there are a lot of people who view the .357Sig as some sort of holy grail. Including those who already have a .40S&W gun but switch it over to .357Sig with a barrel swap, because they feel, and even in the case of some people who have never even shot .357, that it is the best that can be had. Doesn't matter to me as I've never been that dedicated to one single cartridge and am open to everything. I'm not saying it isn't better than another caliber either. I've owned a .357bbl and mags for one of my P239's but sold them along with 4 boxes of ammo, without ever even shooting it. Never shot 10mm either, but I do still have .380, 9mm, .45acp, 45Colt, and .22LR. The thing that has kept me from going down the .357 road is cost of the ammo, and the reports of the very high sound volume of the rounds being fired. And because I no longer spend much time in the woods I've never owned a 10mm. Recoil never bothered me when I was younger, though I do admit I feel it now more than I did then.

We tested and considered going to 357 Sig at my old dept briefly. Thing I loved most was the bottle neck cartridge. The feed like chickens thru an egg. Super slick. Due to cost for ammo, and all things needed they didn't go that way.
I still have a K40 that I hang onto in case of another ammo pandemic. If I was shopping for a 40 or 357, I believe I'd go for the 357 myself. Never had a real desire for a 10mm. Course I will never abandon the 45. All ammo now days is ridiculous price wise. It's like gas, they create a shortage, jack the price up, everybody gets used to it and they drop the price to 3 times what it should be and everybody is oh happy day, gas is cheap. Same with ammo.
I'm getting semi low on 45, but I got lots of cases and bullets, I can always crank up the press when needed.

With all due respect - I call "Bravo Sierra" on the sound issue.
Microsoft PowerPoint - Firearm Sound Briefing.ppt (larsondavis.com) (https://www.larsondavis.com/ContentStore/mktg/LD_Docs/Firearm_Sound_Briefing.pdf)
How Loud are the Weapons?
P228 9mm 159-162 dB
P229 .40 S&W 161-162 dB
P229 .357 SIG 162-163 dB
(All measured 1 meter to the left of the muzzle)Maximum Safe Sound Level
357 Sig, to me, has a very distinctive sound.
Like an AK vs an AR.
But to me, it doesn't sound any louder than 40 S&W.
Also, IMHO, reports of excessive blast and concussion are highly exaggerated.
Especially with low flash fast burn defensive ammunition.
Now the cost issue is definitely for real :(
Particularly with range ammo.
That's the main reason I can't, in good conscience, recommend the caliber to others.
Also, availability of ammo and very few firearms options.
Most manufactures (Hk and others) have stopped producing guns in that caliber.
It's truly a niche round these days ...
Could very well be, but it's something that I've read time and time again on gun boards. Could be like perceived, or felt recoil though. What is heard by some as exceptionally loud may be not so much by others. Felt dB's?

Everybody needs a least one 1911 :)
I've rented Wilson Combat, Nighthawk and Kimber 1911s on several occasions.
I think they were all full-size 5" government models.
And I shot all of them Lights Out.
So, I finally bought my one and only 1911.
Wanted a single quality gun, but something I could carry.
Settled on a Dan Wesson Valor V-Bob Commander 4.25" gun.
They seem to have a consensus reputation for quality and accuracy.
Although reliable, at least in my hands, for some reason the accuracy was disappointing :(
Couldn't figure out why.
The trigger is sweet, and I like Heinie Straight Eight sights?
The gun did come with much sought after VZ Slim G10 grips.
Then I read reports that some folks found these grips too slim and favored standard thickness.
Got me thinking, the guns I rented, it seemed, had standard thickness grips and mine did feel narrow.
Could it be the grips were throwing me off?
So, being excessive compulsive anyway, I ordered VZ standard thickness with palm swells.
First time to the range with these grips - The clouds parted, and the angels sang! :D
It's still hard to believe just changing grip side panels could make such a difference.
But paper doesn't lie, and I've been to the range many times since with repeatable results.

I’ve tries a wide variety of grips. Not palm swell, though, I didn’t know that was a thing. I don’t like VZ grips though, the texture just doesn’t feel right to me.
I might have to buy the Citadel, shoot it till it’s broken in, and stash it in an ammo box with as much ammo as will fit. It’s a good apocalypse gun.

I switched to the large backstrap and it feels more controllable while shooting. But being a plastic striker gun, it’s a soulless appliance. I was considering trading it away, but it does shoot pretty accurately. So yeah, I’m talking myself into buying a cheap 1911.

Had their 5” 9mm once. Got a deal as the guy did a bubba cerakote. As I’ve found with other bubba cerakote jobs, he gummed up the works. Once the offending areas were clearanced, it ran well, for what little bit I shot it. Also, I had read good reviews on it before I bought it because, at the time, I had never heard of Citadel before. I would have no qualms about buying another. $389 is a price that would suck me in.Like Barth said, ya gotta have at least 1 of them there 1911’s! ;)
That being said, I know some of the Tisas go for around that at times. Based on my good buddy dao’s experience and what many are saying on the 1911 boards, I personally would go to that brand. BUT, not sure about the availability of one with 3 dots at that price. Maybe dao can chime in.

If I were to shoot an average 22lr and then a 22WMR I would say the difference is noticeable (WMR louder). But, not if the lr was a high velocity and the WMR was of the low end. Maybe slightly, but really not much. That being said, my WMR experience has only been from a snubby, while the LR’s have been rifles and semi auto’s. Obviously the cylinder to forcing cone gap allows for a much louder “report” though, so not really a fair comparison.

Heck, that price, I’d probably just blow that much in a couple weeks on stupid stuff like groceries or gasoline.
I often justify things that way ;)
I hear you. I know some of the "Black Friday", etc Tisas deals were pretty good. My only Tisas was a pawn shop find. So can't speak too much from experience. Again, I think that's a deal I'd take advantage of. Hope to hear of you getting it and being happy with it. 😀
I don't know about the Tanker's sights but so far as I know it's among the least expensive Tisas offered, at around $400. I paid about $550 for my Tisas Carry, and Stingray, and they both came with white 3-dot sights. I've swapped out sights on more guns than I can remember, and it's not a hard task at all so long as you have a good pusher to work with. And for as important as they are to good shooting they're not as expensive as so many other mods are on a gun.
I've noticed the prices on Tisas guns are starting to climb. Even as others seem to be coming down a bit. I think Tisas' sales are telling the company that they can charge more. Of those that I've had I've had very good impressions of their build quality. I've had the same number of DW's and while they truly are a semi-custom gun they are not really 4 times as good as the Tisas which is about the difference in price between the two brands. I would trust my life to either brand once they've proven themselves at the range.
edit: Just looked back at my records and learned that I've had one more Tisas than DW. All the rest of what I said though is accurate.

I knew you would be able to offer a better input than anybody on the Tisas vs "other guys" than at least anyone else I know.
About the Tisas prices... I called that early on. A common business practice. Some co's in their business plan factor in intentional losses early on as a way to gain a base of positive supporters/reviewers/repeat buyers. I think they have played their hand rather well.

Tisas are good quality, so they had to control demand or they’d lose control of the supply. The Stingray I had, the rear sight seemed welded in place. They told me it didn’t need adjusting. :(

Dan Wesson actually did the same thing. The first CBob I encountered at a gun show new was like 750 bucks. Instant love and I wanted it bad but didn't have 750, story of my life. Much later I got one used online from North Carolina and paid around 1100.
I think that's one reason the came out with the VBob. They realized they had great quality and a lot of fans and decided they could get a lot more money for them. Overnight the prices went up half again or more.
I don't tell much difference between a Cbob and a VBob. Course now both are up there in price. Still great guns.
I love my Tisas too and I'd buy another without question.
Course now I'm semi focused on Auto Ordnance. Probably be forever before I get one but a fella has to have a goal right?

I came very close to getting a Springfield TRP for around $1,250 ish.
But came across a brushed stainless DW V-Bob for $1,500 and decided to "Buy Once, Cry Once".
That's one decision I don't regret

Well if that's what they said then it must be true! 😂 Don't you know that they know better than you?!?!
You say "had". I take that you have it no more?

I've never quite understood the attraction to .357Sig. Of course I've never really pursued the answer before. What are the things about the caliber that make you like it so much Barth? As compared to say, .40S&W.
... they could duplicate 357 Magnum 4"-barrel 125 gr @ 1,450 fps performance. ...
Note: My preferred carry load is Underwood GDHP 125 gr @ 1,475 fps. ...
My commitment to 125 gr. 357SIG ammo is due to (1) the fact that its performance mimics that of 125 gr. .357 Magnum ammo (which has a very long history as a proven effective LEO and SD revolver round), and (2) the fact that it is a bottlenecked round (which should decrease the chance of seeing a feeding issue in a semi-auto).
I use 125 gr. 357SIG Underwood GD (my preferred round) or 125 gr. Speer GDLE for my SD/HD ammo. The Underwood is advertised as 1,475 fps, ~600 ft-lbs energy at the muzzle of a 4" barrel. And the Speer (#54234) is advertised at 1,375 fps, ~525 ft-lbs at the muzzle end of a 4" barrel.
By the way, a Sig P229 (or an X-Changed M11-A1) shoots both the UW round or the Speer round very comfortably!

I sold it. I heard Obi Wan murmuring, "This is not the 1911 you're looking for."
And whaddya know, Hogue makes a rubber 1911 grip with palm swells.

Funny my Tisas Carry rear sight must be welded too, it doesn't look like it but I've used a pusher, and punches and tried everything, it won't budge 1 iota. I'd just like to move it just a tiny bit as it shoots left, not bad, still minute of pie plate but would be nicer. My 1911 U MRI has an adjustable rear sight. Love it. Was super easy to dial in and didn't take long, it was close out of the box.
I was expecting a tough go when I decided to change the sights out on my Tisas SS Carry, based on things I'd read on the interwebs, much like those above. But in my case they slid right out with little effort. Same case when I swapped sights out on my Kahr MK9.
I use a Wheeler pusher. I've found that the slide really needs to be dead nuts perpendicular to the direction of travel. I then get the pusher as tight as I can with my hand, and if it hasn't moved yet I put a brass drift punch against the side of the jaw of the pusher and give it a sharp tap or three with my small brass gunsmith hammer (about 8oz). When they're that tight I've heard them make a snapping or popping noise when they let go. After that they slide right out. I check the alignment several times to make sure that everything remains lined up. I bought my pusher years ago and paid a little more or a little less than $100 for it, can't remember exactly. Now the same pusher is going for closer to $200 unless you get lucky and find a bargain on one.
This is the model I have. You can see the lines they scribe in the bed of the pusher to help align the slide, and keep it aligned, in the second picture.
I also use three pieces of the camping cutting board against the slide, one on each side and one on the top between it and the delrin pushers to protect the finish. I've yet to either find a set I couldn't move, or ding a slide in the process of swapping them out. But it takes time and two or five checks of for alignment in the process of removing. Direction of travel is also important and they don't all go out in the same direction. Most are out to the right and in front the left when looking from the rear of the slide, but not always.

That's the same exact pusher I have. I use strips of leather in lieu of the camp cutting board. I also got it super tight and smacked it with hammer and punch as directions mentioned. Mine didn't pop. I was just trying to adjust a bit, I'm ok with the sights. If I ever decide to swap I'll just run a cut across the sight with a dremel and it'll come out. I was messing with the rear sight, guess I could nudge the front just a tad and maybe correct it, hadn't thought of that.

I'm afraid to post this as I might jynx myself
Seems like I've been very lucky over the years.
Most of the guns I've purchased were sighted in "dead on" right out of the box
Hopefully my good luck continues with the CZ Shadow Compact :D
I've got sky high hopes for that gun after shooting my CZ 75 Compact.
That thing is an absolute tack driver.
I'm actually afraid to change the factory sights on it.
It just shoots so good the way it is.

Full length guide rods in a 1911 are a good thing, right?
The only reason I've seen that is a definite advantage is the fact that they enable the use of a flat wire recoil spring. And that can increase the longevity of the spring by a factor of ten or more.
