That's cuz you live uptown. I'm on the other side of the tracks :D
We're on the same side of the tracks, I just have designer legs with zero operational value.

Hmmm… I’m thinking of getting something like that… for the wife to sit on. We like to try new things!!!;):p
Don’t think one with wheels would work as well though. “Get back over here woman”! :bump2:

Hey, they give you a comfy place for your wife to sit. And even if she puts on a few pounds it's not going to bother you!

Mine looks just like that now that I put on the Wilson frame. (Not SAS though)I was just looking at optic ready slides yesterday. Me, Mr. Blued and wood stocks looking at scopes on a carry gun. Just don't seem right.
I guess with a different slide where I could take it on and off in about 2 seconds makes it more palatable? Got one on my Canik and we get along except she's just too fat and bulky.
Guess I'm getting more worldly, been carrying the 365 for about a month now although I still hold my 1911 several times a day.
jeepster09
01-19-2023, 02:54 PM
I also changed out the mini slide and take down levers to regular P365 types. The SAS ones were a pain to operate.
Gotta wonder what Sig was thinking with those controls. I mean, if they want the gun to be that "smooth" why even put a grip on it that is perpendicular to the slide? :)
Good thinking jeep. How do you like that sighting system?
jeepster09
01-19-2023, 03:44 PM
I think sight is okay for a protection gun. Point and shoot pretty much for up close; I found if you just pull gun up to "point" the sight kinda falls into place.

I like my P365SAS with the Wilson grip module. I was thinking about putting the normal takedown lever on it, but we will see how ambitious I get. I am going to file down the Wilson grip module by the slide stop so I can kind of manipulate it. As it is right now the slide stop is useless. But then I do slingshot on reloading anyway.

It was kind of a pain in the butt to change them, I also added a straight trigger which I prefer. I am happy with the results.

Yup, it's kind a hard holding onto the little fire control unit while you move stuff around to make things fit.
I still got my armorer manual. Just gotta do it all in the right order or you often times don't get a harmonious outcome.
Probably couldn't do it again. Been long enough I think I've forgotten most of it. Probably should take it apart but what if I can't put it back together ya know?

I still hold my 1911 several times a day.
Is that what yer callin it nowadays? Man, the definition changes are rampant these days. Somebody the other day called that “waxing their dolphin”!
I guess it’s ok to do that kinda stuff, but several times in a day? Maybe not. :p
Jeep: I like that lil 365 you got. Those Wilson modules really are cool looking. I always like the 1911 grips Wilson sells that have that similar design in them.

The Wilson frame is excellent for grip. Feels really good. Couldn't get it much better I don't think. I guess you'd have to call my 1911 a compact model. Must be compensating for something I guess.

That’s ok Colonel, I’m part of the compact model club as well. I’ve heard the gubmint club is a big club, but I aint in it!
Me too. Newest stablemate. If this one proves to be reliable it will definitely become a part of the rotation. I did polish the slide a bit, added the skateboard checkering :), new grips bushings, and a magwell.

What does one do to touch up a blued finish?
For the polished/satin finished flats: Degrease, then use one of the various cold blues (best color match) to touch up any bare shiny spots. Use vary fine steel wool and oil to blend the finishes . Repeat as need.
For the matte surfaces: Degrease, cold blue, clean up/blend with oil and cloth. Repeat as desired.
If an area of matte (sand blasted) finish has become shiny/smooth, I've found you can hold a piece of appropriate grit abrasive paper slightly above the area and tap it with whatever tool you think will work to mimic the original finish. It's also possible to tape and use a abrasive blaster to duplicate the finish on small areas.
Cold blue like Oxpho-Blue can be quite durable when applied correctly and is easily touched up.
Oxpho-Blue is more black in color than other cold blues (IE, Birchwood Casey) that tend towards blue.
Nano Ceramic coatings, https://www.amazon.com/s?k=Nano+Ceramic+Coating+Technology&crid=1XJR0I05FIUDP&sprefix=nano+ceramic+coating+technology%2Caps%2C28 5&ref=nb_sb_noss, can be applied to further increase the durability of the finish. They do look best on shiny surfaces, but if applied evenly is still good looking on matte (could give a bit of shine to it). I've had particularly good results using these types of products doing touch up with Aluminum black. I also use it to protect my case colored guns:

You have the touch Greg! Thanks for the info. Beautiful gun Sir.
I like blued guns but they don't see to be very common anymore.
I've been working on getting the roll marks on my stainless Colt Defender smoothed out. I've just about got them now. I started with 600 grit paper, then 800, 1000, and 1500, then back to 800. Followed by Mothers. I don't want this one to have a mirror finish like I got close to on my Tisas. But I just don't like roll marks that distort the metal. It's gotta be a lot less expensive to do them that way, which is why we see so many. If my name was on a gun though I'd go a more expensive route and either laser etch them or engrave them. Of course not being an astute businessman I'd probably also go bankrupt.
Bawanna
01-27-2023, 12:14 AM
I mix and match all the cold blues. Some end up with a deep finish but rather dull, others end up a bit shinier. I'll do one, then the other, back and forth until I get what I want. I use the Oxpho-Blue along with the Birchwood and some others through Brownells. Haven't done much bluing for quite some time. I did a whole rifle once, a 1917 Enfield and was pretty proud of it, till I took it in for some machine work and the guy said it needed bluing...wasn't so proud. I let them do it, real hot blue of course and it turned out fantastic but too late in the game and I'm not good enough at wrenching to get into hot bluing.
And of course case hardened with stag to finish me off for the day. That's about the most beautiful thing I've ever laid eyes on. A true my oh my right there.

A few have come into our range and the alloy frame makes it feel special compared to all the plastic out there today. The S&W will appeal to a lot of people.

Been watching too many Westerns. I always have had the itch for a lever gun. "Yellowstone" put me over the top. Yesterday, a customer put me out of my misery. A Uberti 1873 carbine replica in 357/38sp. Probably the most useless gun in my small collection.
Feeds my handloads and is a hoot to shoot. Sore arm now from working the action but a smile still on my face.

I bought a recorder for Android and made one right after I saw your post. Seven cycles of my Rossi .45 LC.
Tisas .45, gray alloy frame. This one is called the Stingray. They have a steel framed variant that's called the Manta Ray. Tisas seems to be in flux right now, I think because they now have a presence in the US, and are no longer relying on SDS Imports as their sole distributor. So the new tisasusa website is still a little short of info. This model debuted last August, only in 9mm. It wasn't until right after Shot Show that they brought this .45 version to market. Because their website isn't up to snuff yet I thought I was getting a steel framed gun, which is what I wanted, but this will do.
I replaced the ambi safety with a WC single side, and the mag release button with a WC extended. It does come with standard thickness G10 grips but they had a large thumb scoops which I don't favor. I had also picked up a checkered bobtail MSH to put on it but it turned out to be for a Sig Fastback Carry and it wouldn't fit. So I'll have to find one that does. I'll be adding some of the clear skateboard tape to the front strap also. I like the mostly bare slide and the cocking serrations that they put on it. Came with 2 8rd mags.
BirdsThaWord
02-09-2023, 06:31 PM
Nice dao. Looks like S&W’s fish scale serrations. I too am not a thumb scoop fan, so nice move on the grip change imho. You are fast becoming the resident Tisas expert around here. I want one once I get back into buying mode. Most likely going to copy you on your lil officer, because it just looks plain sweet!
Thanks Bird. I just ordered an Ed Brown snakeskin MSH, and it looks like a perfect match to the serrations on the slide. Hopefully it will fit. It will be interesting to see how this one runs at the range. If it's as good as the others I'll having nothing to complain about. They're very reasonably priced.
Oh, and the flash on my camera made the gray frame appear much lighter than it is. It's actually a very dark gray, which is good because I'm not overly fond of reverse two-tones either. :)

Dao,
That thing looks great! I wasn’t in the market for a .45, or a Tisas, but I may be now!
Thanks Man. I'd suggest you browse Gunbroker to try and find one (with pictures), that matches what you're looking for even if you don't buy it there. The SDS Imports and Tisasusa websites are not complete at this point. So far what I've seen in the wild are:
edit: Found the tisasusa site to have some corrections and additional info.
Stingray Carry B45BA: Black slide, dark gray alloy frame, Bobtail Commander size, in 9mm (B9BA), and 45
Manta Ray Duty B45B: Black slide, black steel slide, Bobtail government size, in 45 (Don't know that I've ever seen a full size 1911 with a bobtail). Interesting.
Yukon Carry C10: Black slide, dark gray steel slide, Bobtail Commander with 25lpi frontstrap checkering. Tisas' site says in one place this is .45acp, in another it is 10mm. So, not sure what it actually is.
One downside to my Stingray is that the frame is ramped but the barrel is not. If I was going to be putting lots and lots of rounds through this that might be an issue over time. I don't know if the other models have ramped barrels of not. Tisas doesn't say.

Yup. Only had a box of 8rounds of ball ammunition with me, was not going to run my carry ammo on a function test. The mags need to be pulled apart and cleaned as after 2 shots the next round hung up inside the mag. Check one mag at home and the follower was very dirty. I’ve learned that even new Kahr magazines must be disassembled and cleaned before being put into service. The firearm itself is clean.

The gun itself appears relatively cared for other than the dyi slide release lever work which will be replaced. I was carrying my MK9 on that range visit and the cleaned 4 mags that came with it ran with no problems in my MK9. The “shelf” on the mag catch was the reason the for the click as the mag was dropping out. I’m on an email notification with Kahr when it becomes available again. Some time in the future I will disassembled the slide and clean the firing pin channel.
Not new, just new to me. Looks like it was not shot much if at all though.
Before and after with stock grips and MSH, and then with the Sig MSH and a different pair of shoes.

John if you get it in your head that you want checkering on the backstrap, like I did, a word of warning. So far I've bought a Sig Fastback carry MSH and an Ed Brown MSH neither of which fit on my Stingray. The Sig part fit on my Kimber so it wasn't a waste but the Ed Brown didn't fit either gun. Too bad too because the snake skin checkering on the Ed Brown matches the slide serrations on the Stingray perfectly. When Ed Brown said "requires modification to the frame" they weren't just a kidding. Long story short I'm not sure what MSH would fit the Stingray but if you figure it out I wouldn't mind a heads up.
I haven't fired mine yet either but I've yet to have any kind of stoppage with any of the other Tisas commanders that I've had or have.
JohnR
03-08-2023, 05:57 PM
I’m not big on textured front or backstraps, so I don’t plan to seek it out on this. I imagine the MSH is unique to Tisas, anyway.
Jeep I've been tempted to pick up one of the SR1911's multipe times but so far have not done so. Their integral plunger tub and titanium covered feed ramp are some quality touches, and I've not heard a bad thing about the guns themselves. Ruger does things right!

I have that Ruger SR1911 lightweight commander in .45 and it carries nice but shooting it definitely has more recoil than an all steel frame. BUT, that got me hooked on the Ruger 1911 and I picked up their lightweight 9mm and that is a dream to shoot and is a tack driver. They’re both keepers for sure.

Did the Ed Brown just not fit the contour of the frame or not fit inside. Frame have to be filed down or the housing too big for the frame. I'd probably buy that Ed Brown if you can't return it. I'll probably hack saw another one someday.

Beautiful gun John. Perfect for carry.
Recoil aside, the alloy frame commanders are wonderful to carry. My 4" Wilson is heavy for an all day shift with a lot of walking.
I did pick up a used DM Bullard cross draw and that made all the difference in the world, and is perfect for driving. I love that holster.

I abstained from 1911s as long as I could. Then I kept hearing how good the Tisas 1911s are, and the Stingray started tickling my fancy. Well, I couldn’t resist, so here’s my new .45. Alloy frame, and a very impressive trigger, nice and crisp.

I have two 1911's with checkered front straps, and MSH. Another one with the "chain link" pattern, don't care for it.
But after carrying the two checkered ones (one CCO, one full size). I now put skate board tape on any pistol with a smooth front, including my K9 and MK9. Just feels right. I have not tried the Wilson Combat add on, mentioned in another thread. The recent RIA 1911 in .40SW has a few lines down the front strap, similar to a Beretta M9. While not as grippy as checkering it works pretty good. Since I carry a 1911, most of the time (K9 on hot summer days), I worry about slippage when the SHTF.

It slides right into the channel on both guns Colonel. It overlaps the contour of the frames on both the Tisas and the Kimber so... just as you surmised and Ed Brown stated it would require mods to the frame for a proper fit.
It is a complete MSH with plunger, pin, spring, and cap (Part No. 816S-BT). It's yours if you want it Colonel, send me your address again and I'll get it to you.

When I ordered mine John I thought it was an all steel gun. The hang tag even said forged frame and slide. But apparently they are forging their aluminum frames too?
JohnR

It came with a tag that said forged frame and slide, series 70 internals. Maybe the tag is generic for all their models. Their website says they use no MIM parts, so the MIM-haters will be happy.
The Kimber I bought has a dimpled front strap, and I like it a lot. The skateboard tape works really well on smooth straps though and another thing it has going for it is that a ring worn on the hand can't harm the finish. I shoot left handed sometimes and my wedding ring does come into contact with the frontstrap. While it won't hurt the metal, the finish on some of these guns is not as robust as it could be. The tape protects against damage from a ring.
Not sure what is up with the tags John, but if the frame is not actually forged it shouldn't be labeled as such. I wonder if they are actually cast, but the two terms can be used interchangeably?

I think every one of my guns has a ring mark. I'm not a jewelry guy but wife had a ring made for me long before we married. Crossed revolvers which is pretty cool in my eyes. So I wear it. I can't even pick my nose properly or anything else with my left hand so the wedding ring isn't much of a bother.

LOL, I have small "girl like" hands actually.
But I don't mind large grips for some reason...
Have two VP9s and one P30.
All run the Large back strap with Small side panels.
That combination fits like a glove (even with 17 round capacity!)
Yes the laser fits perfectly.

They are great little guns but with the short barrel comes a short ejection rod which requires special attention when pulling the base pin as well as ejecting spent cases.
The lower and wider Bisley hammer gives you a sight picture with the hammer down as well as faster follow-up shots because the hammer is much easier to grab.
I have been through a half dozen SA Rugers in a variety of calibers. All of them great shooters but with their tall sharp hammers a PIA to cock so I sold them and moved on.
Mine shown above is made for mounted shooters so it has the wider hammer and came with a short stroke kit installed so it fits my needs perfectly. Those Italians make really nice replicas and the tolerances on this gun are perfect. They have also figured a way to have the firing pin retract without a transfer back so loading six is a safe option. I would have gone with a Colt but my fear was passing on a gun that if loaded incorrectly was a time bomb for anyone not understanding the relationship between a firing pin and a chambered round. Hickock45 graphicly demonstrates that with wooden rod striking the hammer on a Colt or replica without Uberti's hammer safety feature.

Two of my favorites. Think I was born a thumb buster.
An Uberti 45 Colt similar to your desire, and a 45ACP Ruger. I like the feel and weight of the Uberti, like the old Colts, but the Ruger while a bit heavier is fun to shoot and I got way more ACP than 45 Colt.

I had and sold to a customer that begged me so I sold a Blackhawk in .357/38 plus a 9mm cylinder for his "cabin gun". Both shot exactly to POI at 25yd. One of the nicest guns I have ever owned. My only complaint with that as with most all SA's with the plow handle grip, was the bruising of my driving finger during recoil.

I added the magwell MSH. Haven't decided yet if I'll keep the beveled laser grips on it or put a proper set of flat bottom magwell grips on it, or if I'll leave the magwell on it at all. I have a bad habit of selling some of my favorite guns to customers that have become friends. My Kimber Ultra CDP II was one of them. Light, reliable, east to shoot accurately, and reliable as anything I have ever owned. A couple of thoughts for you if this is a primary carry gun,
pick up a couple of spare recoil springs. I never had failures but recommended change out is about 1500 rounds and you have the option of using the old one for range work and dropping in the new one for carry.
If you use mags with metal followers, check the frames feed ramp for chipping. That was an issue on early models and easily solved by using Wilson polymer followers that performed flawlessly and eliminated the chance of nicking up the alloy feed ramp.
One more thing, mine had an ambi safety and it was easy snicked off by my right arm movements during the day. Kimber makes a shorter, low profile safety for the right side that completely eliminated the issue.
I would leave the laser as it might prevent you from having to pull the trigger in a confrontation.
I miss that gun a lot.
Thanks for the tips pd. For only the second time in my long history of buying and selling guns I had to send this one back to the manufacturer. My first was a Kahr because of finish issues. This time, one of the grip bushings was set into the frame cross-threaded. I couldn't slip a different grip on it because of the cant. To their credit, so far, they agreed to take the gun back immediately for repair, and are paying for shipping both ways.
This one has a ramped barrel, but I'll keep an eye of those of my 1911's that do not, in which I use mags with metal followers. No ambi safety on this one, and I've replaced the ambi safeties on several guns for the reason you noted. I do still have some so-equipped but I'm very conscious of this when carrying and check the safety on them frequently while I'm out and about with them, as well as before and after holstering.

I probably should as it's a respite from the real world.
On those micarta's, I always spray them with furniture polish (wax), let them sit, then wipe them down well. Brings out the colors, removes the "dry" look they have outta the packaging and somewhat seals them. Not saying everyone/anyone should do so, but just sharing my take on them. 😉
Just saw your reply Byrd. Is the spray a one-time application or does it dry out after a time?
So I sent my Ultra back to Kimber last Friday after getting an RMA and shipping label from them. One of the grip screws was installed wrong, being either cross-threaded or the hole was not exactly perpendicular to the frame. While there they fixed the frame and installed an oversized bushing in the new hole. The repair sheet says that they also reamed the muzzle and refinished the barrel, and then put three mags through it. I can't help but wonder if they put some rounds downrange and discovered that the muzzle needed some work. When I got it, it appeared to me to have some burrs on the ends of the rifling, and now it does not. I'm thinking that they refinished the barrel to make it look new again after shooting 30 rounds through it. They shipped it back, again on their dime, and I got it back today, one week later. I reinstalled the magwell I had put on it, and some Wilson grips.
I like the CT Laser grips that came on it (Post #1384), but I'm on this magwell kick right now and like the looks better than I do with the lasergrips.
While I wish I hadn't had to send it in, I have no complaints about their process. And if their attention to detail while there caused them to address the muzzle it may have saved me having to send it in for a second time.

Hey dao! The furniture wax is not a one time thing. I noticed over time that the "dry" look does return.
Glad that the Kimber got sorted. One of the 1911's I had (forget which) had a bushing that was stuck into the frame. I ended up drilling it out, then tapping out the remainder of the bushing, kinda folding it inwards into the frame until it all popped out the other side. (Not sure if that description makes sense, but hope it does). This had me buying my first tap & die set. I reamed out the frames threads using oil and (after a good cleaning) the same sized bushing went back in. At first, I thought it was like yours, cross threaded. And maybe it was, or it had oxidation locking it up, but kinda re-threading it with the die worked out that time. Nice touch that they took care of your muzzle/crown. Yours may end up being a tad bit more accurate than others who have not had that "custom" touch. All in all, it really sounds like you came out on top after what must have been some frustration initially. I'l also with you on those magwells. I definitely think magwell cut grips, which hide the msh pins, are a cleaner and overall nicer look!

Sorry to hear it John. Hope you get it sorted under warranty. Do your grip screws have o rings behind them?
You beat me to it Byrd. I was gonna suggest the orings too.
When I saw that crooked bushing, and how close to the frame cutout it was I didn't want to chance it. I figured Kimber would do a better job on it than I would, and that would be a much safer proposition to me. If I had mucked it up I would have been without a frame. From what I see they did it right.
I use oil on my gray micarta grips just to be sure that they're uniform in color but it dries out too eventually. I also use it on the G10 grips for the same reason, but they don't need as much or as often.

I would not have chanced it either, if I had a warranty. My penchant for good deals has me 99% of the time buying used though, which is sans a warranty. That has had me many times buying others problems. As necessity is the mother of inventions, I’ve experienced that it is also the mother of improvisation and the need to learn new skills. I would have rather been able to send said problems in on a makers dime for repairs. The price is paid, one way or the other I guess! Would sometimes have saved the knuckle skin and buying of rarely used tools. I have been lucky to not have mucked anything up so far. In times like that I’m thankful for my Navy engineer background. That, along with being a budget hot rodder and drag racer in the past (My best friends dad, who I really respected as a man’s man, was a Navy Seal and a motor head). I am glad to hear they did it right for you. As much as those lil Kimbers cost I think you deserved the good treatment you and your gun received. What kind of oil do you apply to the grips? I’m just wondering if I should use oil instead of wax, but am concerned about oil coming off where I don’t want it, or making a grip slippery. I doubt you’d be doing so if that was the case.

I’m self conscious about not slouching, and sucking in my gut. I don’t need this crap, man; I’m only 59!
I use Shooter's Choice FP-10 for cleaning and lubricating. It's very light, smells great, and doesn't make the micarta slick for some odd reason, since it does lube the moving parts very well.

My last purchase, a Tisas Stingray, is going back to the warranty folks for a terrible feed ramp. It fed fine at first, but has worsened. The feed ramp looks like it was cut at 4:59 on a Friday just as the whistle started blowing.
I really like the Micarta or whatever it is grips, but the screws back out every single time I shoot it. I’d hate to Loctite them, but I’ll have to I guess.
If you go to the hardware store and buy some o-rings, that just fit over the screws, that works pretty good, on keeping them from backing out. I used to know the size, but don't have it handy. I ordered a bag of 100 years ago, and still have plenty. The o-rings do wear out, but it takes awhile.

I recently cut off pieces of some automotive vacuum hose to use on some 1911 grip screws. Worked great, had extras if they wore out.
That is a good idea jeep. How did you get them to come out with a uniform thickness? Every time I try to cut off a small piece of hose for anything the cut is never square to the sides.

I got to hold my Tisas Stingray yesterday. Arrived right on schedule from Bud's. I was at the shop half an hour after the delivery notification. It's a bit heavier than I'd hoped but looks real good. Can't wait to get it out and put thru it's paces. Guy at the shop mistakenly listed it as a 45, I kind of was concerned and looked at the barrel, didn't think to look at the hood. Thought heck it is a 45, figured ok, I'll take it anyhow. But my eye was off, it was in fact a 9 so guess we're ok.
Should be a soft enough shooter the wife might enjoy shooting it some too. No worry of her claiming it, too big and she can't rack the easiest slide so that's a good thing.

How was the feed ramp? My .45 was really rough, and I sent it back. They smoothed it and upgraded the firing pin to titanium like their current production models. It’s a nice shooter.

I finally got to shoot my new to me Beretta APX A1 compact. Got it back from the fixit place the end of May, but I've been rebuilding my shooting backstop after the winter carnage. I had some oak trees cut down last year, so I've been stacking 16" dia. foot and a half logs. This old body can only stack so many in a day, and with the heat, the sweat was going down faster than a fat kid on a teeter totter...............It came back spotless and lubed, and looked good with no machining marks of any kind. I shot 70 Federal 124 gr. FMJ's, and 10 Win. Silvertip 147 gr. The first mag was way low. Once I raised the front sight above the rear blackout sight, I started to get good groups. It will take a while to get used to the trigger. It's about 5 1/2 lbs. with a pretty clean break for what it is. A bit shorter reset than other striker fired firearms I've shot. It felt good in hand and functioned the way it should. Always locked back. I used a 6" splatter target and shot from 7, 10, and 15 yds. I was happy with the results. The only thing I would fool with is the front sight. It needs to be larger. I'll have to see what my options are. Purchased on GB, make an offer. They accepted my second offer, and I won it for less than we paid for the wife's LCPII. A few more shooting sessions and into the rotation. Got the FDE model. So far, so good.

I picked up my Tisas Carry today. Shop didn't call with the clearance, but wife called and I was cleared. Interesting afternoon, on the way there the alternator in the van quit. Wife was at the shop to get a switch replaced that put her convertible top down. My battery light was on and wasn't sure what that meant so I went to the shop rather than the gun shop. Good thing too cause it quit in their parking lot. Chair won't go in the mustang unless we put the top down which it wouldn't do with the bad switch. So wife took it home and got the Rav thinking we'd have to leave the van. Guys scrambled, found an alternator (even though they were busy) and me and wife went to the gun shop. Got back with my new toy and they'd already installed the new alternator and we're back on the track. She'll have to go back next week to get the switch for the top put in.
Like she said, better now than on the way to NE washington in a few weeks.
So far the Tisas looks real good. I'll break it down later this evening and check it out more thoroughly but so far so good. Should be a soft shooter with those tiny little 9mm booolits. We'll see.

Had a .41 magnum 4 5/8 barrel Blackhawk way back yonder and that thing would get blood on both ends, not much fun to shoot but I wish I had it back but I traded it and a real nice pretty blued S&W 4 inch .41 mag revolver for the then brand new S&W 645 .45 auto which turned out to be the most problematic gun I’ve ever owned, wouldn’t feed or eject and several trips back to mama didn’t help so it went to someone else…….I traded a nice S&W 640 .357 mag for my first Kahr, a CW40 which was the second most troublesome gun I ever bought but eventually I ended up with the current PM9 which is a keeper……The one gun I still want is a Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8 barrel in.357 mag which I would say is the best all around, end of the world survival gun available because it’s almost indestructible and ammo should always be available……….

Not a heavy trigger pull, crisp break and a shorter reset than other strikers I've shot. Another flawless 100 rds. So far, a winner. Carried it out and about yesterday for the first time. Put on a pair of pants that I haven't worn in a while and was surprised that it actually fit in my front pocket with just a bit of the bottom sticking out. Not how I'll be carrying it, but it worked. No, actually I think this is a set you told me about someplace. I've tried to make my own a few times. I have one set that's close to tolerable but so far I'm not getting it. I don't know how they make these stag grips so nice.
The only downfall is they are almost always too thick for my personal taste. I wish these were a tad thinner as well but they are close and I love the looks of them.
Might be a bit too much contrast on the dark gun but I've always kind of went contrast over subtle.
Wife says it looks like Walt Longmires gun, that's plenty good for me. Love that show.

I’ve been thinning out part of my full size pistol collection that had been collecting dust recently in case I saw something I hadn’t tried before that I wanted to buy so I guess it worked out . I just have a thing for small pistols. I did the same thing a couple years back. No family to leave them to, and I don't really like having firearms sitting around that I don't shoot. I still prefer my HK SA/DA trigger the most but I'm getting used to these newfangled triggers, I think. I still like my revolver for carry, but little plastic fantastics fill a niche in my carry rotation. I told myself, you should consolidate and get down to one or two calibers. That turned out to be hilarious. I'm now able to shoot .380, .38, 9mm, .357 and .40. What happened....... I was surprised at the quality actually of these small guns. I thought that they would be cheaply made but for under $300, it's a go. It's hard to pass up a firearm for the under $300 mark. I would really like to check out/handle the Mossburg and Savage entries, but they are nowhere to be seen in these parts. One of my local dealers does have an FDE Pico in the case. I didn't even ask how much. Pretty well set on firearms and have all my basic needs covered but like breasts, once you've seen 2, you want to see the rest. As long as they're not too large of course. I have a thing for small pistols myself. Waiting for a report on your CZ.

Having the stag party I went and took some pictures of a few.
My Buenas Aires Police Hi Power, grips recently obtained from GB. Looks great and I got it running real good finally.
My 1942 Colt with the stag it wore in Korea. Guy must have thought it was Patton. Gifted to me long long ago.
My 10 1/2'' Ruger 44 Canon. And the Birdshead in 45acp. Sadly when putting the birdshead back it became the first gun I ever dropped, hit the bottom edge of the safe and busted a little piece bottom front on both grips. They were faux stag anyhow so I didn't cry and could still use them, hardly noticeable but I put the factory ones back on for now.
Lastly a little Ivory. (Hippo Tooth) I made myself on my Para Ordnance. It's my grieving gun. Bought it the day after my dad crossed the river many years ago. Didn't help much but at least a little bit.

But I finally gave in and ordered the Kahr S9.
The price was just too good to pass up.

Speaking of CZs, I picked up this Tanfoglio clone recently:

It's 1996 vintage and I'm pretty pleased with it. First time shooting it, I called it good after two rounds:confused:. These were at 10 and 15 yds. (L to R) off hand...I figured it was only going to be downhill after that:p.

I've since added some slimmer grips to it:

Awesome! Is that the one you can change calibers on?

Thank you sir!
It's a large frame; so yes, it can be changed to other calibers.

I like it, fine looking pistol. I've often wondered about the Tangfolio's compared to the CZ's.

Very nice!
Looks like it and you could put a serious dent in a bad guy's intentions. Nice work Greg. Pistol is great too.

I am planning on swapping out the Vortex scope for a Trijicon 1-4 Accupoint scope.

Purty. There's something about a lever gun that just looks right. Probably has something to do with all those Westerns I watched as a kid. Congrats Jeep!

I was watching Kung Fu as a kid and in one episode someone was loading a Winchester through the side loading gate and that looked so damn cool. It's still cool to me, loading through a side gate and jacking the lever.

Yes it is. Comes with threaded barrel.

Ruger has em now. I thought Remington bought them. Sold again apparently. Threaded barrel on a 45/70. Do they make a silencer that big or maybe it's for a suppressor?

Ruger buying out the Marlin brand from Remington was one of the best things to ever happen in the lever gun world……No more thrown together Remlins from worn out machinery pieced together by workers with no old school skills in how to operate them…….Ruger will make them right and bring back the quality of the original Marlins from years ago……

They do make suppressor for them. I have a muzzle break on it.
