Looks like I'll get my K9 worked over sooner than I thought. Local 'smith I have used several times for trigger jobs just said he could "melt" my K9's sharp areas and cerakote it for about $175 dollars. That's very good news.
I'll get together some pics and do a "before" and "after" series for you guys. I have a photobucket account I haven't used since they did that stupid charging. Didn't they drop the pay for service feature though?

Have you decided on what color Cerakote you'll go with?

Thinking pink with purple hearts.....or maybe something like the "Hello Kitty AR 15." :p
Probably going to go black on the slide and some flavor of blue on the frame. I have a couple of pics on my computer that are of the shade of blue I'd like. I even have a pic of a two-toned blue/black Sig that I really like. *Since I have to pay Photobucket to post here, not going to post a pic.

What's the latest on your K9? You can post pics here by clicking on the "go advanced" tab and selecting "manage attachments".

I'm surprised there aren't major lawsuits against photobucket. Suddenly holding all you pictures hostage until you pay, even making previously posted pictures disappear. Whole lot of empty spaces on forums that used to hold beautiful photos.
They won't see a single dime of my money ever again. If they offered me a free camera and a pickup truck the relationship would still be over.
Think I'll go cut the grass, just mowed a couple days ago but I need a zen like moment.

I'd a devout GM guy, prefer a GMC but don't matter, photobucket and Pelosi are in the same category.

I did cut the grass, really hot today, covered in grass, sweating, it's awesome. Kind of like being covered in sawdust.
Just poured a beer down my neck, don't do beer much but it was good.

Thinking of having this done to my Ed Brown Executive Elite. Should look pretty cool!

I don't remember if I ever posted these before
The PM9 is my wife's. The slide is a burgundy color. The color doesn't show very well
The K9 is mine. I don't remember what the black color is called
These were done well over 10 years ago

Are those done in cerakote? Or something else? I like the K9. Did you have the front strap checkered yourself?
Bawanna

If memory serves me correctly JG did that front strap himself. I had no luck getting him to do mine. Hope JG checks back in to see if I need to schedule my Ahlzeimers test again.
From what I can he did a fine job on it. I'll bet it makes a world of difference in how the gun feels in hand.

Always wanted to checker metal. Actually heard it's easier than wood but guess I'm scared or something. Grips I can toss in the fireplace if I mess up. Pistol frames not so much.
I still might give it a go sometime.

I bet you could pull it off. From the vids I’ve watched, seems pretty straight forward with the proper tools.

I'd like to have my front strap checkered. Maybe someday, but for now skateboard tape works very well for a more secure grip.

I use skate board tape on my K9 and K40, and some 1911's. Works well.
I have two Dan Wesson CCO, 1911's. The one I carry, a Valkyrie, has 30 lpi, I love it. The other has the scale type checkering, and I do not care for it. I put skate board tape over it. I think the vendors are trying new (aka cheaper) options.

Back when I was in my 1911 phase, I had both a Wilson and a Springfield Pro. The Wilson had 30 LPI checkering and the Pro had 20 LPI. I greatly preferred the 20. Some people complain that it's too aggressive and painful but I don't think so and it gives a much more secure grip.
Bawanna

Heard the same thing about my Cbob. I think it's 20LPI also. Really good grip. 30 is more cosmetic it seems. Looks good but not so much grip.

That’s a phase I can’t seem to shake. Always go back to them. Not for carry, but for the range and for the aesthetics.

A phase I never seemed to have left. I carried my PM45 and Sig 365 fairly regular till about 3 months ago. Now nothing but a 1911 rides on my belt. Goes on when my pants do and comes off when the pants come off. Folks probably think I'm paranoid or something, rolling around the house with a gun but it just feels good.

Same here, but a keltec P3at. Gym shorts, or whatever… nobody knows it. Naps on the couch? It’s there. Checking the mail? It’s there. Working in the yard, walking the dog, etc. Plus, when I go into customers houses, or business meeting at the company office, it’s there. At least I got SOMETHING! Can’t always hide my main carry, but that thing vanishes.

Must be something in the water.
I bought a CZ PCR to be my EDC, and retire my Dan Wesson Valkyrie.
Worked for a few weeks.
Then bought a K40 to be my EDC, carried for a few months.
Back to my Dan Wesson.
But.... I might go back to the K40 in the summer. At least for a week or two.

Love the K40. I do not have a PCR, but I do have a P01 and a 75 Compact. The K40 is just so much more comfortable to carry and easier to conceal. I typically can not make up my mind between my K40 and S&W Shield 45.
I thought about picking up a nice 9mm stainless Colt 1911 for EDC, but the thumb safety turns me off from that idea. Not really against thumb safeties per se, but I dont want to mix and as between having one and not having one on my carry gun. I know that, for me, I'll mostly will stumble with swiping the safety off if I go from carrying a one without one to a 1911. If all I every carried and trained with were guns with thumb safeties, then it would probably be muscle memory to effortlessly swipe it off.

You're not the only one. If I'm in house clothes, I have a Taurus 85 38spc revolver on me; otherwise, I have my EDC on my belt from the time I get dress to leave the house until I take those clothes off to relax for the night.

I even wear mine relaxing watching TV in the evening. More relaxing having it on me. It goes on as I get dressed in bed, clothes set out on the wheelchair. Dress, into the chair, gun in holster before I even go tinkle. Reverse the process when I go to bed.
Never hardly leave the house, never had any crime issues in 30 years on my hill. Maybe I am paranoid or perhaps just love guns and what to wear one all the time.
For what little it might be worth, I quit wearing my little bowie knife every day after I retired. I kind of miss it, might have to go back to that just cause I guess.

I would think with the chair, may be a bit easier to have around/hidden/accessible. I did try for a while, but between keys, cell, wallet, etc, it was a bit much. Even got a super lightweight ceramic bladed deal. The 2 decent knives (Father’s day and B-day gifts) now sit securely in me and the wife's get outta Dodge bags. I do think having a blade for unwanted dances and on the floor interactions is a very good idea. The tactical dudes videos that I sometimes watch has me thinking that way.

I wouldn’t say you’re paranoid, just exercising freedom and doing what you want. Add to that, you can’t be paranoid because you gave up the double bagged 1911 in the shower, right?

You are spot on about the muscle memory. I learned that was a thing in the military. If you train and train and train, when the Sh!t hits the fan, you don't think, you react. I have been carrying a 1911 for so long, my thumb reaches for the safety on my K40.
I once attended a course called "self defense outside the home", one of the students had a new HK with a safety and forgot to take it off, many time in the training, so I agree, if no training, no safety is best.

Interesting thread drift. ;)
Unfortunately, 1911's are no longer an option for me. But carrying at home? Yes, all the time. Not that I'm in a high crime area, but occupied home invasions do seem to be getting more popular nationwide. And it beats putting the pistol in the safe every time the grandkids come over and getting it out every time I go to leave or to bed. POGO is a good motto

The one thing I miss about my 1911's are the triggers. Hard to beat. I have a CZ SP01 that I had Cajun Gun Works do their thing on and the S/A trigger is pretty close to my 1911's. No safety, just a de-cocker. Being DA/SA makes it considerably less likely to have an AD in a high stress situation. 18+1 capacity is nice also but it's for home defense only. For carry I switch between my K9, P365 and HK P2000. For hiking and camping, which I almost never do anymore, it's a S&W .357 revolver.
