View Full Version : Damn, that MK9 slide racking is a ******!
Rack and lock especially after a cleaning and lube and with a little gun oil and Ballistol residue on your hands.;)
Wait until you do the P380....
Wait until you do the P380....
I had one and sent it back but getting another Tues.. It tight but not to far to go to lock.
Also dry hands.;)
I found holding the slide back while pulling out and putting the the pin was tougher on the MK9.

Get you a chopstick from a Chinese restaurant and then pull back the slide to the point you would to remove the slide stop pin and stick the chopstick down in the open chamber and adjust it so the slide is in the correct place and it will stay and now you have both hands to work with to push the slide lock pin out....Saves a lot of cussing and sometimes a little skin...

Gonna give it a shot!

By the way, that MK is beautiful man, I don't think there is a finer looking pistol anywhere, I gotta win the lotto and get me one of those....
These are expensive but worth the money imo. And it's two for the money. Makes racking a Kahr much easier

Here's what they look like on the gun.

I'm buying that for the Glock 42 for my wife. She has a problem racking slides. She can rack the 42 but that item will make it easier. She can barely move the MK9 slide.Lol
I'll see if it loosens up a bit. The difficulty I have is using the pin function. I'll get used to it.
I really didn't have a problem with the P380 I sent back. Glad I'm getting another Tuesday.
That pin should loosen up, or more accurately take less oomph to push out after you've had it apart a couple of dozen times.

I hope so. The pin comes out a bit and trying to pull it out while holding the slide in place is tough. I think it's both loosing up and getting the technique down.

Actually once you get the lever part past the edge of the slide you really don't have to hold it back anymore. It's clearing the lever that requires the pull.
Once you figure out how to hold it with one hand, it's not that hard. I hold with one hand and give a little tap with a soft face hammer or a screw driver or something and I'm home free.
Have you tried wrapping your thumb around the top of the back of the grip and your fingers over the top of the slide? This will allow you to apply even pressure on the slide while it's positioned where it needs to be. Pardon the weapon in the picture, it's the first one that came up in my search :)
I understand this will put your hand over the nub that needs to be tapped, but once you're able to start it out with a thumbnail on the left side and don't need access to the right side this grip will help you greatly

Thanks, I will definitely try that. I was trying to push back from the muzzle and need 3 hands. Other than the wife's LCPII which is easy, I'm used to lever type breakdown handguns.

I do just like the picture but use my left hand and from the muzzle end. You can put your thumb in the trigger guard but I don't have to myself. This lets you see the take down lever notch, you don't need to align the lines, get it to where it needs to be, twist it around and give the pin a little tap and it's Miller Time.

Got this technique working well.
Thanks!:D
You're welcome. Glad it's working out for you.
