Great job clearing the misfeed. Local reporter asked the sheriff if she reloaded. The reporter is an obvious gun enthusiast.

Must be a 9, shot like 4 or 5 times with little to no effect at all. Good job on her clearing the jam. Hope she's not on leave for long, perp had that one a coming.

OK....sticking with my .45. Anyone want to buy several 9mm's? LOL

I sometimes wonder if my .38 is enough.

It's a good thing he wasn't black or we would have riots all over the nation. It does make a 1911 or a P220 look a lot lighter to carry.

Reading the comments of the Youtube video was enlightening.

1). Did she wait too long to engage?
2). Did she hesitate to engage due to current hostility to police use of force?
3). Did her first rounds hit the target? A comment states the police report suggests the first rounds did not hit the target.

I agree, had this man been black, the rioters, looters, and 1619 Project would have been out in force.

Many officers are dead due to public opinion. Had this fella been black, she mostly likely would be dead too. I can feel it in my cells.

Before this summer it was called the "Ferguson Effect" where police avoided voluntary contact with black offenders since that might escalate and they lose their jobs. 2014 was the first year violent crime in America increased rather than decreased. Now, police are simply not responding even when called---either for fear of job loss/jail or because the mayor has told them not to.

Mayors ordering stand downs is nothing new, we first saw it in 1992 in LA, but now it's pretty commonplace.

There was a case a few years ago of a female police officer taking a physical beating, resulting in facial bone fractures and she later stated how she was afraid to use her gun, even though she was being beaten to a pulp.

Police recruitment was already way down due to the Obama administration's attacks on police and the general lack of fitness in America but now it has to fall through the floor. If this keeps up, neighborhoods will have to hire their own security forces, something I saw when I was last in southeast Asia.

The amount of total BS from BLM is laughable. I mean they are a total joke. All the destruction and killing they do and then riot of a few scumbags shot a a FEW bad police.
Well I wonder how they feel about this new announcement from our President.

All the testing I have seen done at our range by ATK (at the time) shooting into gel with everything they had in the way of "latest and greatest" showed everything worked well(9MM-45acp) if the shot was placed correctly. Penetration and expansion was outstanding and the presenter said they found little difference in what we call stopping power in any caliber when the shot placement caused a sudden loss in blood pressure on the intended target. Bouncing off bones less so but it hurt your target a lot more.
Ammo makers have made great advances, keeping the officer cool under pressure not so much.
My way of thinking is, stuff as much ammo as I can fit in my carry gun, consider a spare mag, and practice better trigger control.
Many trainers say, if the guy has a knife, get distance as a knife can be more dangerous than a gun.
Easy said.

Shot placement in most cases Trumps caliber. 22 head shot should be more deadly than 45 to the foot. In a real life scenario we aren’t standing at the range calling shots on a stationary silhouette. Reminds me of a discussion here recently about the mighty 380 and shot placement. In real life one rarely calls the shot.

That cop did an amazing job, I don't care what anybody says. If the first few shots didn't hit, kind of surprising at that distance that's not great but she cleared that weapon like a pro.
In 20/20 hindsight from the recliner she should have created distance early on but once the dude started advancing it was too late and she did the right thing.
Easy to judge after the fact and critic. In that respect if she clearly saw he only had a knife, she might have been best to stay in the car.

I agree MR. Bawanna. The video should be used in training.

We did a lot of scenarios in police training at the department. Me being a derelict only helped and observed. The 21ft rule was emphasized so other options besides the gun could be used, mainly lateral movement, if they coming at you hard and fast you play bull fighter and step aside, get around a corner where they can't turn as fast etc. Give yourself time to get the gun and finish the job.

Well, the officer wasn’t hurt, so a happy ending except for the old fellow who the dirtbag stabbed in the first place.

Was the officer able to call the local trash removal service to scrape the carcass off the street?

Yes, excellent analysis.
Re: staying in the car......it was known that the perp had already used deadly force. Who could know what else might be in his pocket or behind his back?

IMO, other than the apparent misses and grip issues, she performed pretty danged perfect. I have absolutely no problem with her judgement.
