Even though It wasn’t needed (already have 1,000+ rounds of various weights & types), two weeks ago I ordered 300 rounds of this 9mm American Eagle 124 gr fmj range ammo directly from Federal at the jacked up price of $18.99/box of 50.
Yeah, more than double the usual price, but don’t care. Am not a re-roller.

Federal said they were running 12-15 days behind on shipping, and they would email a notification when shipped. I’ve been patiently waiting for said email, but as of this morning no notifications so far.

Anyway, when I stepped out the front door thirty minutes ago, the package was sitting nearby in plain view of the street. Yesterday we had run a 30 minute errand and came in the house through the garage. Guess I should’ve check the front entry.

Too bad the porch pirates must’ve taken the night off, or they would’ve made a good score here.

Usually deliveries come late by me and I hear their truck. They can be sneaky...................they used to ring the doorbell but not anymore. The post office won't ring the doorbell either.

Yeah, I understand they are all overworked with heavy deliveries.

The dogs let me know if anyone pulls in the driveway.

Good buy!

I bought 300 rounds of the same ammo direct from Federal. It arrived a few weeks after ordering but I did receive a shipping notification.

This past week I ordered 80 rounds of 124 grain HST and 300 rounds of 115 grain Champion FMJ direct from Federal. I realize prices are high but if we lose the Presidential election and the Senate, Internet ammo sales will be a thing of the past and these prices will look like bargains.

I suppose I'm showing my age here, but I have never understood how America accepts this kind of "drop it and run" delivery service...from ANYONE, of ANYTHING.

I was called stupid nine months ago because I reload. That was back when 9 / $8 and 45 / $12 per 50. In January I received a nice rebate check from Federal, that won’t happen again for a while. I admit being a hand load component hoarder. Funny the number of friends that have contacted me for ammo.

Don’t take my comments as a dig to those that don’t reload. It’s not for everyone.

Sounds good to me. I started reloading in January of 2011 and, other than couple hundred rounds of .22lr and a few cases of dove hunting shotgun shells, haven't bought a single round of factory ammunition since 2010. For years, up until the last few weeks, I've been able to average at least one trip to the range per week .... the average got blown away here recently though. Since declaring myself to finally be "semi-retired" a couple of weeks ago I've been to the range 7 times in the last 12 days.

Shoot - Reload ....... rinse and repeat :)

I bought reloading gear years ago, but my focus has been on 12g - trap, and have never even assembled my pistol loading rig.
I'm about to contribute to a pallet order (so a larger component commit than might otherwise be advised for starting out), and am leaning toward Ramshot TrueBlue (clean, good metering) and whatever off-the-shelf bullets are cheapest in 9mm (115gn) & 357 (158gn) for plinking (inside 100 yards) - Kahrs & a Ruger SecuritySix 6" & M92 16" carbine.
From your experience, any thoughts or advice on a better direction for powder & off-the-shelf bullets?

Mr. S we must have fallen from the same tree. Just about the same timeline for me. I’m a high volume, low accuracy shooter. Trip or two per week BC (before corona). AC (after corona) it’s considerably less with ranges closed and all the new gun owners wanting to blast away their ammo. Last few weeks the ranges are much less busy. Most want to hang on to the full mag or two that’s left in their stash.

Tokuno, can’t help much . Haven’t used True Blue or cheap 115gn. Unless you cast or have someone cast for you, bullets will be off-the-shelf. I use Berry’s plated, Acme coated and Bayou coated. Tight group, WST, Bullseye powders. Just picked up Silhouette.
