Well, not being sure which way this election thing may go I figured I should take the opportunity to do some shopping. Picked up this today...

Then then the best part was the counter guy asked if I needed any ammo. I didn’t really need any but I asked him “you got any target ammo?” He said yeah. I asked him how much. He said $11.95 a box. I thought I’d test the waters and said give me 4 boxes but he said there was a 1 box limit. I said OK give me one box. Then he brought one 50 round box and the one other box below. I said I think I’ll take the big one. Good price at $11.95 per 50 rounds for brass cased during this COVID/Riot/Election cycle. Now if this thing runs nice I have to pick up a couple of the 15 round extended mags.

Sweet!

I took a trip up to Kahr to do some pre-election shopping. Their retail store is in house, and is called the Tommy Gun Warehouse. Basically, a gun shop on steroids.

They carry a lot more brands than just Kahr as well. They don't ship ammo, but they literally have pallets of cased ammo. Picked up a bit to go plinking....

Nice! Love my XL.

Great price on the ammo. I’ve never fired Herters but I’ve seen some mixed reviews. If it were me, I’d bring some other ammo along to the break in party, just in case.

I've been mulling over buying myself a celebration present if my favored candidate wins, but I can't think of any niches that haven't been filled. Or if the other candidate wins I can buy myself more "preparation" supplies.

I bought some Herter's 380 once. It was very dirty, but cleaning supplies are cheap.

I bought a case of Indonesian Herters 380 about 10 years ago and it shot OK except for 1 Squib round that I had to beat out with a wooden dowel. That’s the only squib I’ve ever had. Best i remember it was dirty I think.

That box says made in USA on it. They just make the 380 in Indonesia? That would be fine, got no use for a mouse gun no how.

The previous iteration of Herters in the black and red box was made by Sellier & Bellot. It was a little hotter than most, and fairly clean burning.

I used to pick it up on sale and with coupons for under $8 a box at the local Cabelas. Never had a problem with it. The brass reloaded well too.

The new Herters is made by Winchester. Dirtiest ammo I ever used, but I clean my guns after shooting no matter how many rounds I shoot, so it doesn't matter much.

I paid almost twice as much for the PMC I got at Kahr, but at least I found something to shoot with. Either the shops around here have nothing, or some really price gouge at $30 + a box.

Nice find, both the new Sig and being able to pick up a big box of ammo to go with it.....Enjoy!

I remember being 8 years old and getting a 2 holster rig for twin chrome .45 Colt cap pistols for Christmas and thinking that was as good as it gets, boy have things changed, toy guns are evil, not PC and don't even exist anymore so now 8 year old little boys tell their parents they are transgendered and identify as girls then get female hormones.....Somewhere along the way something went way yonder wrong.....

I had a set of them too. Had em for a very long time, where they ended up has left my memory banks. I know we had a deluxe Daisy Red Ryder in my property room for many years that I coveted very much. Is it a sin to covet another mans BB gun?

Don't recall why it was in there but alas it was never meant to be mine.

It can take quite some time to figure out your preferences in life and sometimes that can change. I used
to identify as a revolver guy but only recently changed my preference to semi autos.

I'm still "transitioning" as the cool kids like to say. I haven't had a reveal party yet.

In times like these who cares if it is dirty. Nice score on the ammo and the gun is a real winner.

Those P365 pistols are very interesting.
I’ve been waiting for Justin Moon to do something similar with the P9/CW9/PM9 Covert (make it a double stack, and keep the width of the grip to no more than 1” in thickness).
Am disappointed so far.

The simpllicity and the reliability are hard to beat. You can set up revolvers pretty nicely, and for those who like Kahr triggers, revolvers seem like a no brainer. You also have more ammo options. They're all guns, what's not to like?????????????

Shot 100 rounds of the Herters ammo today. Ran good and it’s on the hot end of 9mm. If you see some, get it.

Oh, and the P365xl was flawless with 188 rounds of mixed 9mm ball and JHP ranging in age from shiney new to 25 year old tarnished (deceased dads old stash.) The pistol is good to go.

Nice score.

My shopping has been 200 rounds of Underwood GDHP 357 Sig at pre-pandemic prices.
Underwood loads 357 Sig right

Plus 150 rounds of 32 ACP for my Beretta 81 - LOL!

I did luck out just before the ammo shortage.
Landed a case of Lake City M80 at .50 a round :D

Except for the $5,000 price tag and current 9mm ammo shortage, this would be fun...

Would work pretty well on the front of my van for clearing protestors on the highway. Course I don't go where there are protestors on the highway but still it would be handy.

Great vehicle to have when they shut down and block the interstates. License plate should read "Poetic justice".

Is that better than my Kahr K-9?

Bawanna
12-06-2020, 04:51 PM
Kind a apples and oranges, your K9 is steel framed with removable grips the way god intended. The 365 is tupperware.

I know several people that have the 365's and they do love them. I guess with guns it's ok to play the field.

Guess I'm more and more old school as time goes by. I have been looking at the Hellcat which is basically a 365 but better looking to me, but still tupperware. Heck they are even doing tupperware rifle stocks these days. Blasphemy.

I replaced the wood stock on my elk rifle with tupperware after hunting for a week in the snow last year. Gave me piece of mind this year when I spent a day in the rain/snow with it. Not sure if it helped as the elk were in the next county, but I didn't feel bad about soaking a wood stock in those conditions.

I should take pictures of my election inspired gun and post it too. It's still a work in progress; AR10. Will be a 6.5 Creedmoor. All the parts are on order, just waiting for Brown Santa to deliver. Oh, also waiting for Wilson Combat to make the barrel.

Bawanna
12-07-2020, 11:43 AM
The big plus to that set up is there seems to be a lot of 6.5 Creedmoor ammo still around. At least there was, word might have gotten out and folks hoarded it now too.

I grabbed a couple of boxes a few weeks ago when I saw some. Don't remember which brand, and it really doesn't matter as I'll be rolling my own when the time comes. Just needed something to get the scope and barrel into rough alignment.

Tupperware works in so many places and carry guns is one of the best. Low maintenance and completely rustproof.
I have two P365's and find them to be among the best firearms I have ever owned. Shooting the Hellcat side by side, I found the Hellcat to have a bit more recoil but overall they are amazing carry guns.
Once you have slid down a mountainside composed of loose shale or sat in a duck blind up to your fetlocks in swamp water you will learn to appreciate the value of tupperware rifle and shotgun stocks.
Don't get ne wrong, I love and appreciate wood stocks and once waited three years for a pair of Spegel's for an L-frame revolver but..........
