Hi folks, so I’ve been wanting either a K9 or a MK9 for a while now. I’d obviously like to buy new, money’s not the issue but availability. I can’t find any new ones anywhere.

A member on a different forum has this MK9 for sale. Early 2000s, low round count, looks to be in great condition. Pics in link.

My worries are 1. Early 2000s, I don’t know if the springs are old, need to be replaced or what. 2. Used gun and over 5 years so no warranty. 3. Dead night sights, will need to be replaced. He’s asking $425 which I would buy if it was newer.

At this point I’m leaning towards no because would much prefer buying new. Thanks for the help as always, take care.

Seems like any decent shop should be able to order you a shiny brand new one I would think.

$425 is a good price. MSRP on an MK9 from Davidson's is $900----but they show "out of stock". A new recoil spring from Kahr is $14. New night sights for the "old style dovetail", which is what I assume you have, seem to be hard to find. Kahr currently has the front sight available, but not the rear. If the ones on the pistol currently are Trijicons, they can be re-lamped at the factory.

Even doing that, you are ahead of the game vs a new one, plus new ones seem to be out of stock right now.

I'd jump on that if I were you.

I bought my mk9 used - sturdy all-steel, with available replacement parts, so I was relatively unconcerned, and it has worked out great.
That said, I've never regretted spending more and waiting longer for what I truly wanted, and in absolute $, the new MK9's only a few hundred more.

I bought my MK9 used too. I wasn't looking at the time, just a chance find on one of the local gun forums. I didn't even know what a Kahr was, had to google it. Turns out that it was a pricey little pistol that doesn't hold it's value well. The PO was willing to negotiate so I bought it. Had a lot of fun shooting and reloading for the little gun and marveled at the trigger. So I bought a new K9. I haven't had a lick of trouble with the MK9. Most of the fizz is gone from the nite-sights, not sure I care about that. Check it over real good and shoot it if you can. Don't get ripped off.

Remember this little beastie is no feather-weight, about 1 1/2 pounds loaded. That's enough to pull my cargo shorts down around my ankles.

$400 is what they were selling for in the pre covid market. I own a MK9, MK40, K9, and two K40s. All of them except one K40 was purchased used. Never had an issue with any of them, spare parts and springs are abundant (if even needed) from Kahr and aftermarket sources, and $425 is an excellent price in the current market.

Dawson Precision has some older style fiber optic and blacked out sights in stock.

Just buy it and shoot it. If the springs seem worn, order new ones from Kahr. Of if there's some other problem with it, I'm sure Kahr will fix it.

You can order the Wolff spring setup directly from WF. I don't know if it's my eyes but, when I look down from the top, I see at the least some flaking and maybe some possible peening on that barrel towards the business end.

He didn't buy it.

He bought a new K9 going back to factory. Looking hard at CM9 now.

Yep, the gun got to Kahr last Friday afternoon. Only thing is I’m interested in a CW9, not the CM, already have my beloved PM9 (seriously, I can’t give the PM9 enough praise). Reason being I almost feel like I’ll want to baby the K9! Lol. We’ll see, still deciding.

I found a CW9 with tritium front sight for $397, not bad. With a $25 transfer it’s $422. I know they go for less but not by much. It’s frustrating! I want the damn thing but I also know a reason I want it is bc I don’t have the K9. I almost want to wait for the K9 to get back and if I still want it then, I’ll buy it. I don’t know if I can wait that long is the issue :D

Keep in mind that anything produced before Nov. '04 has the old style dovetails, and finding sights for those can be a challenge.

I have a P9 and a K9, a CM9 and a MK9. I shoot my metal pistols a lot more than my polymer pistols(when I was able to shoot without worrying about ammo shortage). They are more pleasant to shoot but have the same MOA. So my MK9 is good training for the CM9.
