Thursday Dec 17.
I just walked out of my local Scheels (Eden Prairie,MN).
They had 800 rd boxes of Federal 40 gr. 22's @ 49.00/bx. 100 rd. boxes of CCI @$10/bx.
Lots of aluminum cased 9mm that I didn't look at but the clerk said it was under $20/bx.
Lots of 5.56 that I didn't price but that Store has been very fair priced all through the Chinese virus event.

All I took was one (limit) 800 rd bx of 22's. I left the rest for those that do not reload. Lot's of smiles on peoples faces.

Two weeks ago they had SSP @ $3.49/hundred with a 200 max per sale. Most common powders limited inventory but all very useable @ $25 or less.

Stuff is out there if you are in the right place at the right time.

Side note, Last week a different LGS had a lot of 100 rd. boxes of brass cased 9MM @$39.99/bx and it took them four days to sell out.

Nice! I was at Academy the other day and the ammo shelf had something like six different calibers, mostly oddball, all in about two feet of shelf space. The clerk offered me some .22LR - "Do you want any?" he offered. I said sure, I never turn down ammo. He went to the back room and emerged with a 500-round brick of Thunderbolt, $26. I know, it's Thunderbolt, but that stuff works fine for me.

There is a Scheel's coming to Colorado Springs that is supposed to open sometime next year. I have never heard of them before, as I'm sure most folks around this area haven't either. I'll go check them out once they open and all of the hoopla is over and done with when they open.

As for ammo, I'm pretty much set up in all calibers/gauge with the exception of one. I need to get my reloading bench set up one of these years as I have everything I need for that one caliber, which normally costs $45-50/box of 50 rounds.

I'm not really hurting, but I could stand another 3-4 k primers (various sizes) and equivalent number of boolits .... brass and powder is good for a while ...

I think you will fine Scheels a refreshing change from Cabala's/Bass Pro. They are a family run operation out of No.Dakota and although their store is similar in appearance to the aforementioned, they usually are larger and include more family oriented items like a complete bicycle shop. The Eden Prairie store in MN is 250,000 sq feet and the one just built in Allen TX near my sons home is 331,000 sq. ft.
From what I can determine they sell at fair pricing. As I have been posting, they for example just a month ago had a lot of 9mm @$11.99/bx when the market was listing limited quantities at $25.00 and up.
Look forward to heading on over when it is open. They will be hoarding a bit so when that store near you does open it should be a great place to get ammo and reloading supplies.

Sheel's opened a store in Loveland a couple of years back. I've been in them before on my various travels--in the Midwest and also in Billings, MT and Salt Lake City. They have good quality stuff. You'll enjoy it. They have a big Ferris wheel in the middle of the store for the kids.

I was in the one in Reno/Sparks. It was quite impressive. Person could look around for days and still find stuff to look at, buy, covet, wish for.

We don’t have one in Central Texas yet, just Bass Pro & Cabella’s.
But we do have a bunch of Academy stores. That is an original Austin chain.

I think I must have been one of Academy's best customers when they would ship $25+ ammo orders for free. Not no more, too bad.

We have Mills Fleet Farm near me. They have a little of everything. Used to be family owned store out of Northern Minnesota, they were bought out a few years ago and aren't quite as good now. However I just picked up 2 fifty round boxes of 45 acp [brass/ball] for $16 a box.

Not having a Sheels or Fleet Farm is the price I pay for living in a safe, peaceful town. I do wish there were better deals around here though.

I have a Scheels about an hour and forty five minutes away from me. You can look on their website and know without making a trek, whether they have ammo available or not at that store. I'm not to that point yet...................
