Another wood duck install in our wetlands. Gotta love the overnight mid April rain/snow.
I am the old codger in the background.

Ok, not being a wood duck authority, what does it do? Like a bird (duck)house, or a feeder? Clueless people like me need to know ya know.
I prefer well seasoned over old codger, your still vertical and in the cattails so your doing just fine my friend.

Looks mighty cold up there. My hands act like they don’t hear me in that kinda weather. The woodwork looks nice in the pics (I too, being a Floriduh man, do not know what that is). I hope I am able to have that kind of fun when I’m “well seasoned”. :D

Some of the coolest birds on earth. I have seen 15 babies climb out of one nest and gently land in the water. I have floating platforms for them to rest on at night. The 20lb. snapping turtles take the ramps over during the day.
A 40 acre wetland for a back yard makes for some interesting sights. Just watched a river otter out for a swim. He will have no luck climbing the 4' steel pipe surrounded by an 8" steel vent pipe that supports the duck house, and usually moves on downstream into a larger lake as we move into late spring.

You must just drive the post into the swamp till it feels solid? Sometimes that can be a long ways. Really cool you got 40 acres of wetland, bet you do see all kinds of stuff.
Wetland and wheelchairs don't go too well together but still enjoy seeing what I can from solid ground.
I even got 3 pieces of cedar the dimensions they suggest. I made several squirrel houses last year and it's fun to watch the little tree rats get peanuts out of them. I put a fold up lid on them and they have to lift it to get a peanut, didn't take them any time at all to figure it out. Now if I could just get them to clean up the mess they make with the shells.

Set some lines out for those snapping turtles. Had to beat smothered turtle meat using a can or four of Rotel's. Just let it simmer covered for an hour or four until the meat falls off the bones.
That's one bad thing about living here in the mountains, missing quite a few dishes that are common place along the gulf coast. I do have plenty of elk meat and deer sausage in the freezer at least.
