And they said lawn darts, BB guns and wood burning kits were way too dangerous for kids to play with and took them off the market although as kids our parents gave us real target bow and arrow sets to play with and we would shoot them straight up and use metal trash can lids as a shield to stop the falling arrows which might have been a little over the top and also proves without a shadow of a doubt that our parents weren’t worried much about what we kids did but I saw a TV commercial for a toy called Wubble Rumblers......Don’t see how any kid might possibly get hurt or a living room destroyed with these things.....

Today the news did a story about how people are having stress and mental issues coming out of Covid 19 and needing therapy to deal with going back to a normal world, one woman said she was experiencing PTSD like symptoms and extreme stress with going back to work and having to be in close contact with other people.....Wow.

77 years ago today June 6 1944 a bunch of sea sick extremely terrified young men, some not out of their teens walked off of landing craft into water sometimes over their head and if they somehow made it to the shore faced almost certain death to save the world so that we can be free.....Those men have the right to experience PTSD......Seeing what this country has become makes me wonder if was worth it....

Remorseful Parrot
A man goes to a pet store and sees a beautiful parrot. It has a price tag on the cage, $50. The guy asks, "Why so little for this beautiful bird?"
The shop owner says, "Look, I have to warn you, this parrot came from a frat house, all it does is insult people and talk $hit. It has a very sharp tongue."
The man thinks about it and decides it may be funny, so he buys the parrot. The shop owner makes sure he knows there are no returns.
After a few days of constant vicious insults, the man has had all he can take. He remembers that the parrot cannot be returned, so he comes up with the brilliant idea of putting the parrot in the freezer as a "time out."
So in the freezer he goes!
About 10 minutes later he opens the freezer to check on the parrot.
"I'm sorry. I will be good, I promise. Please. Just give me another chance."
The man feels the parrot is sincere and takes him out. For a few days, the parrot is charming and friendly, so the man thinks his freezer time out worked.
The man comes home one night and the parrot looks worried. The man asks what's wrong.
The parrot says, "I know why you put me in the freezer, I was a bad parrot, but what did that poor chicken in the freezer do that was so terrible?"

Perceptive Parrot
A woman went to a pet shop and immediately spotted a large, very beautiful parrot. There was a sign on the cage that said $50.00.

“Why so little,” she asked the pet store owner.

The owner looked at her and said, “Look, I should tell you first that this bird used to live in a house of prostitution and sometimes it says some pretty vulgar stuff. The place was closed down by the police and the madam had to sell everything off, which is how the bird came to me.”

The woman thought about this, but decided she had to have the bird anyway. She took it home and hung the bird’s cage up in her living room and waited for it to say something.

The bird looked around the room, then at her, and said, “New house, new madam.”

The woman was a bit shocked at the implication, but then thought, “That's really not so bad. At least it’s not using vulgar language.”

When her two teenage daughters returned from school the bird saw and said, “New house, new madam, new girls.”

The girls and the woman were a bit offended, but then began to laugh about the situation, considering how and where the parrot had been raised. Moments later the woman’s husband, Keith, came home from work.

The bird looked at him and said, “Hi, Keith!”

Know the feeling, When I was a kid we lived walking distance to a county park and they were doing some grading work for some reason and there were several pieces of heavy equipment parked there so my 10 year old best friend and partner in crime Mike and my 11 year delinquent self had to climb up on each tractor to pretend we were driving it....When we got to the back hoe we, surprise surprise found the keys in it so being red blooded American 10 and 11 year old boys we turned the key and guess what, it started right up and was idling away so we panicked and ran home as fast as possible and went right to bed.......Thank God the thing didn’t take off but I bet the next day they wondered why the Case back hoe was out of diesel and the battery dead when they got to work.....

Mike passed away last year so I hope he explained to God that we really didn’t mean any harm with all the stupid crap we did together back in the day.....

You all are some old f@rts. Me and the better half will be at 34 years June 22. Been pretty good over all.

The secret is just remembering 2 things.
1. I’m always right
2. I always let her think she is right.

We do what I think, if it’s wrong it’s my fault. If it works it was really her idea. She lets me buy guns, I let her buy shoes and dresses. Funny how all her stuff takes up every closet in the house, and all my guns except my house and carry guns fit into 1 safe.

Watched the local TV news tonight while working from home to see how many more shopping mall murders and interstate road rage shootings happened today and I started noticing how many advertisements for prescription drugs there were, crap we must be the sickest most unhealthy country on earth…..In 2 hours here is a list of ads I saw, something called Opdivo plus Yervoy….No idea what it was for but who cares, it must be good for you……In the next half hour there were 2 commercials for Jardiance which I think is for type II diabetes but one of the side effects is a possible infection of the Perineum which if you aren’t familiar with where that particular area is well, let me just say it’s not a good place you want to have a bad infection or major itch of any kind if you know what I’m saying…….Next up there was Taltz for crappy skin then Entresto, Duplixent, Verzenio for breast cancer so I’m good there, then Cosentyx, Eliquis and Trulicity (who makes up these names) then an ad for Breztri for COPD but the side effects were extreme eye pain or massive tongue swelling, not good but dude you probably shouldn’t have smoked all those Winstons for 40 years and you wouldn’t need this stuff…...Saw one for Nuplazid which I think is supposed to help if you have Parkinson’s disease so you stop having serious conversations with your long dead dog……Last one was for Ozempic which controls A1C levels or something like that but it must work because the guy was totally happy with the pills and feeling like a young rutting buck……

Now all these TV ads were in about a 2 hour period….I can’t figure out why Big Pharma spends all that money pushing this stuff because you can’t walk into a CVS drugstore and ask for some thank God because some of the other side effects are explosive spleen syndrome, lower intestine rupture and sudden death, not choices I would really be comfortable with thank you very much, I thought that was the reason I pay my Doctor 10 bucks a minute to decide what medications I should be taking……..I’m confused but I did hear that Bubba over at the Pep Boys is giving Covid-19 shots if you want one…….Do you feel lucky?

I can go to bed at 9pm and be asleep within 10 minutes, unless I catch something interesting on the TV news. My wristwatch alarm wakes me up at 0600 and I'm up making coffee within 10 minutes. No way could I do that in my other life time (pre-brain surgery).

Yep, seeing all those idiotic drug commercials on tv is danged right irritating .... most especially when they have to lawyer up and tell you the 20 top possible side effects. With my batting average the last 6-7 years of being in the 1 in 300,000 group, you can bet I'd be visiting the side effect column of the statistics.

I did stretch it just a tiny bit .... I was put on bP meds about 15 years ago and self unprescribed them (after finally telling the doctor) for about a year, successfully. Last fall the bP was beginning to get a bit high again (mainly stress related, I think), so I told the doc and we agreed to the minimum dose of 25 mg.

Our entire society seems to be over medicated though.

I doubt it - they're driven by quarter over quarter results, and if they can drive patients into requesting a name-brand medication of magic bullet for the problem they didn't realize they had, why won't the over-booked, under-paid bureaucratically constrained HMO- or federally-paid doctors just greet the patient, sign the scrip and move on to the next billable unit for another 5 minute consultation? When full-on single-payer is here, doctors will just be another underpaid governmental employee whose natural self-interest is no longer fed by the hope of personal gain. Instead, I read couple dozen ebooks a month while listening to background soft music, no vocals. Figure now that I'm pushing 80, maybe I have the quals to run against Joe in a few years. Wife said I'd have her vote as long as we don't have to move to DC.

I tried it working for the phone company while locating existing burried cables crossing fields before trenching nearby. The old timer teaching me said it's a very definite pull. It really is and used it many times, occasionally finding water or something metallic. That was before the fancy gadgets used now. These knuckleheads don't have a clue if the battery goes dead. Rough when you're in nowhere 2 hrs from the shop. Chuckle.. found many irrigation pipes with the trencher. Experience taught me a feel for soil change just before in time to stop, or not if old and soil compacted enough. Then a scratch or small slice patched with quickset.

I learned how to use "witching wires" in my early surveying days, some 40 years ago. The old timer that showed me how, and tested my personal ability, used nothing but brass coat hanger wires. It wasnt too many years later when you had to search far and wide to find the older style brass hangers. One day on a whim, I cut the flags off a couple of wire "pin flags" and gave it a try over known targets ... but I started about 50 feet away from the pipe line, closed my eyes and had my field hand turn me around a couple of times (slow), then point me in the right direction to walk across the line. I walked with my eyes closed and could feel when the wires crossed. Helper drove a tall stake on the point and before I opened the eyes he pointed me up line a hundred feet or so and I closed my eyes again and had him move me to a point about fifty feet on the opposite side of the line (eyes closed and no peeks on the points we had already marked. Walked crossing the line again and had him mark the spot with my eyes still closed. We marked 600-800 feet of line this way before I turned around to see the results. Yep, pretty danged amazing! All of the stakes, with a line drawn through them, were within a 3 foot corridor. On my survey plats, I never used the phrase "Pipe Line Location", due to the technique, as well as the fact that I hadn't actually seen the pipeline myself. But, unless the survey was for the purpose of any type of dirt work or construction, I had (still have) no problem using the phrase "Possible Pipe Line Location". In land surveying, as well as many other related professions, you have to be really careful of the information and documents you produce.

My dad was a telephone lineman and taught us kids how to use 2 wires for the same thing to find metallic objects. Amazing how it actually works.

Three Women
Three women die together in an accident and go to Heaven. When they get there, St. Peter says. “We only have one rule here in heaven, don’t step on the ducks!”

So they enter heaven, and sure enough, there are ducks all over the place. It is almost impossible not to step on a duck and although they try their best to avoid them, the first woman accidentally steps on one.

Well, along comes St. Peter with the ugliest man she ever saw. St. Peter chains them together and says. “Your punishment for stepping on a duck is to spend eternity chained to this ugly man!”

The next day, the second woman steps accidentally on a duck, and along comes St. Peter, who doesn’t miss a thing. With him is another extremely ugly man. He chains them together with the same admonishment as for the first woman.

The third woman has observed all this and not wanting to be chained for all eternity to an ugly man is very careful where she steps. She manages to go months without stepping on any ducks. And then one day St.Peter comes up to her with the most handsome man she has ever laid eyes on – very tall, long eyelashes, and muscular.

St. Peter chains them together without saying a word.

The happy woman says. “I wonder what I did to deserve being chained to you for all of eternity?”

The guy says, “I don’t know about you, but I stepped on a duck!”

Hey Bawanna - how are doing with the late June heat wave?

Man it's been a scorcher. We just don't get this hot around here. Today total back to normal, 9am and it's 66 degrees. We get those 100 degree days over at the lake but there you just find shade or get in the lake if it's too hot to do anything.
Course wife bought a big blowup pool for the grandkids to play in today and now it's not all that hot and cloudy. Never fails.
