I have ordered from them a few times in the past with no issues. Recently I placed an order though and became very frustrated by their ineptitude and generally lousy service. In fact, on their site, and in any emails they send you, they spell out that you can expect lousy service from them. Normally these upfront signs shoo me away, but my past experiences had gone well, so I proceeded.
2 days after I ordered, I got an email stating that, “for YOUR security...”, I needed to jump through hoops in order for my order to be shipped. Either allow them to place a small charge on my card, call my bank to verify the charge amount, then report back to opticsplanet with that amount, OR pay through my paypal (pay a second time) entering what they listed out put into the paypal, etc etc. When you want people’s money, you shouldn’t make it difficult for them to give it to you. I said to myself, “this is bs, but I want what I ordered, so I chose the paypal route. Once completed with jumping through those hoops, I recontacted OP and asked that they ship now as I had done what they requested. Nope! Now they wanted additional information before they would ship. I told them to shove it up their butt, next to where their head resides. I then ordered the exact same part, using the exact same card that I used on OP, but from Primary Arms. Not only was the card accepted, but they shipped it out THE SAME DAY!
I then wrote a review about my experience. Once done, I read a few of the MANY complaints and negative reviews posted by others who had been run through the ringer. Many posted about waiting 6 months, 9 months, a year for their orders to arrive. Many talked about over charges, OP holding onto their money for looooong periods of time, etc etc.
I highly advise anyone needing to order gun parts online to steer clear of Opticsplanet.com, unless you enjoy paying for additional frustrations in your life.

I am not a fan of Optics Planet. Trouble with orders and poor communication. Regardless of price, I shop elsewhere.

I've bought from them in the past with no trouble. They must have changed but not for the better. A shame.

I have never had a problem. I guess things change.

I ordered lots of stuff working at the PD from OP, must be new management or lack thereof. Thanks for the tip, I'll avoid them like the covid.

Good to know. I’ve also ordered from them years ago, but now fuggetaboutit. After the first red flag you described, I’d have cancelled the order with malice aforethought.

Here’s a screenshot of one of the emails. They have sent me three of these. They just want to make sure you understand why and how they will give bad service, which is how I read it. I’m not going to beat a dead horse, but wanted you all to see this to back up what I had said. Sorry, I had to do 2 separate screen shots.

Wow that’s just inexcusable to treat customers like that, I’m pretty sure they won’t be around much longer……..Why is it so hard for companies to figure out that with so many internet choices for people to buy from that customer service is the most important thing there is…….I recently bought a holster from American Leathersmith in Armybrats neighborhood Round Rock Texas….When I got it everything fit but it was about half inch too short for my pistol so I gave them a call and they said no problem just send it back and we will make another one a little longer which they did and it now fits my M&P perfectly, it’s very well made and they even took off the shipping charge…….That is good customer service and if I ever need another custom holster, they will get my business…….Treat people right and they always come back for more…….So simple

I’m sure they lost money making that 2nd holster, but not in the long run. You will most likely buy from them again, and so will others hearing what you’ve said. Now that’s great customer service! They obviously “get it”.
I agree. It is simple, but I guess some either just don’t get it, or don’t care because the money is good regardless. It’s like roofers after a hurricane. They give the worst service, then 6 mos later, they are begging for business. The one’s that treated people good despite being slammed are the only one’s who survive the after storm famine.
