New to me. Born Aug '08. Got it for a very, very good price. Whether it's actually worth it I won't be able to tell until I get it. And maybe not until I shoot it. Stoked though, I've wanted one of these for a very long time.

Got to hold my new acquisition today. It's in great shape! I originally thought I got it for such a good price because it was a CW9 frame with a P9 slide. But a call to Kahr after the fact proved that incorrect. I was just at the right place at the right time. The two letters of the SN, in the list on the Glock board were only previously used on CW9s. But it turns out that the list is not as up to date as it could be, and mine was made in 2009, as a P9.

I've ordered some spare parts for it and the others I have. I'll put a recoil spring in it before I even take it to the range. I will also dismantle the slide and polish it and the barrel like I did on my PM45, and examine the striker and the other parts as well. The other parts are just for insurance and future use. My guess is that I won't have to rack the slide 300 times to break this one in. :) But I was pleased to find it met the seller's description and does not show any undue wear or tear.

I used to be drawn to short barrelled guns but I'm leaning more to those that are "better" proportioned these days. The P9, P40, S9, Ks, and PM45 all fit into the well proportioned category imo and I like the feel of them in hand better than the shorter guns. Though the P380 is still one of my favorites to look at.

Very nice find DAO, I like a slightly longer barrel myself for belt work…..When my LGS ordered my current carry PM9 the distributor they use send a P9 by mistake and I played with it a while and admit it felt just right in the hand but I wanted a PM9 for pocket carry so they reordered one but the feel of that P9 never left my head and if I ever run into another one at a can’t walk away from price I’ll grab it……I think you found a winner there so like ole Jocko always said, go SILYSI……

Got the P9 and my Carbine home today. The P9 is truly in great shape. I took the slide completely apart in order to put a polish job on it, like I did to my PM45. I didn't put quite the shine on it as the other but it still looks pretty darn nice. Still not a big fan of matte stainless.
I had purchased a new recoil spring for it and oh man what a chore to get that in! I ended up having to put the spring over a cleaning rod and compressing it a few times to get it short enough to be able to muscle it into the gun. The new spring was fully 3" longer than the spring I took out of it to begin with. After getting it compressed on the cleaning rod it was still about a half inch longer but I was finally able to get it in front of the barrel and the slide onto the frame. Sharp looking little gun. I had a stainless P380 or awhile as well as a CM9 but never really took a liking to that look until I polished my PM45. Now I kind of prefer it over the diamond black, or at least it's close. Pictures tomorrow when the light's better.

And pictures of the carbine too please.

I'm still not much of a photographer. But like I mentioned it's in really good shape. I don't think the striker or extractor channels had ever been cleaned but they are now :)
In the picture of the left side you can see the difference between matte finish inside the serrations and the rest of the slide. It's not a bbq gun but with just a little Mother's and some elbow grease, to me they look a whole lot better.

Looks really good. I take my barrel to the polishing wheel and in about a minute the barrel and chamber hood look like chrome. Must take considerable elbow grease to get it that nice with Mothers by hand.

Surprising, not so much. I spent less than an hour on both pieces last night. Now if I wanted it really shiny I guess it would take longer. But just getting the matte removed is pleasing to my eye.

I guess I'm old school, I don't want my firearm to reflect light. It's why I prefer the black finishes. Blued revolvers and dark companions.

I have its sister, the Kahr P9 Covert. I carried that gun for many years, also getting a killer deal on it (about half price).

Congrats on your buy. Do you plan to carry it?

I keep it in my day pack.

I too used to be into all black guns. Then after a few decades of carrying and never having to remove one from the holster I realized that it's ok to have some of them to be "pretty" and nice to look at, since I'm the only one that's likely ever to see them. I still have stealth carry pieces but some shiny ones as well. These days guns have become as much a hobby to me as they are for potential self defense. And fondling them while ogling them once in a while is a part of the hobby that I like. I'm weird like that I guess.

You & me both. I have a few that are not for shooting. Just for the joy of owning as they are somewhat works of art.

dao,

No you are not! Most of us fondle our guys from time-to-time. I personally like two-tone weapons. In fact, I tend to like two-tone in everything.

dao

I like two tone too. But one combo I've yet to completely warm up to is a lighter frame and a black slide. They're striking to be sure but I can't get over the sensation that they appear backwards to me.

I have never been into two tone guns. But on the Kahr, it is quite a different story. The two tone on these guns make for a really nice looking gun. The Kahr IMO is just one cool looking firearm. Just a type of gun you just like to pick up, hold and admire.

Not a new Kahr, or even new to me, it was born in 2000 and I bought it new in 2003. And yes I was the #!@*# idiot that put the scratch in it. Scratches actually as I used to carry it.

I bought these grips directly from Kahr and just received them today. Did not have to work them at all, they fit perfectly.

One of Al's great Lakeline +1 extensions to make it an even 6 in the mag.

Thanks Guys, I'm digging them. I don't carry this one anymore, or shoot it either. And won't so long as I have the one besides this that I saved from the boat sinking that took the rest of my collection. I wish I had stopped carrying this before I put the handling marks in it. And especially wish I hadn't put the idiot scratch in it. Maybe someday I'll learn how to soften such things in Robar finishes, which this one has.

These steel framed Kahrs do shoot softer than their size would seem to indicate. I may pick up another MK9 someday just because they're great little packages. If I do it would go into my carry rotation, alongside that one lone survivor.

I thought that had an aftermarket finish on but wasn't certain. It's sad that Robar is no more, they did some nice stuff. Sent a bunch of Dept Glocks there for grip texture etc. Sent some officers personal guns there for finishes. Kind of miss them.
