View Full Version : Shout out to Kahr customer service!
My PM9 is a 15 year old bull nose with dead night sights. A faithful companion! I noticed lately that the mag release was kind of mushy so I look at Kahr's site for a new one. It didn't specify if it was polymer or steel so I emailed Kahr to see. Well they asked for my address and sent me a new steel one gratis! Took all of 5 minutes to replace it. Now I'm trying to decide on what to do with the sights!

Well that was damn nice of them weren't it. Good folks.
Yep. The polymer catch was worn from rubbing on the steel magazine.

I think I remember hearing that long ago they had a issue with the polymer one and would replace the polymer mag catch with a metal one. I think that was during my pre Kahr days (more than 10 years ago) as all the Kahrs I have bought have had the metal mag catch.
I got this pistol in 2006 with the polymer catch and it's hard telling how many time the mag has been in & out. I'm tickled that Kahr replaced it free as I was prepared to buy one. it was a drop in fit.
You guys have inspired me. I have a blunt-nosed PM9 that I bought new in May of '03. I think I'll call Kahr tomorrow and see if they'll send me one also.

Glad you found us Byrd, lots of good folks here to help you with any problems…..I’ve always had good customer service from Kahr to provide parts and assistance so glad they sent you the improved mag release to get you back up and running……Welcome to the forum, come back often.
Another shout out to Kahr! They're going to ship me out a metal mag release free of charge for my PM9 also. Thanks for the kick in the pants Byrd.
Boy Howdy! I started a run on mag releases from Kahr! I took mine to the range this morning and ran 50 rounds through it with perfect function. Funny side note a guy was there with a new Glock 43. He was showing it off proudly and of course I said "Check mine out.' He looked at it kinda funny and said what is it? He'd never hears of Kahr so I let him try it out. The trigger freaked him out! He liked it a LOT better than his Glock!

This has been my experience with Kahr CS as well. My early E-nickel K9 broke the slide back cover. They sent a free new replacement quickly. Years later, the slide release was showing unusual wear. One email later, a free replacement was on the way. Nice to see they're still at it. I haven't had any problems with any of my Kahrs for many years since then - other than breaking that plastic mag base. I ruled that my fault and replaced it and all the others with steel.
Byrd - thanks for reminding me why I haven't bought a G-43. ;)
Got the replacement mag catch/release in the mail today for my blunt nosed PM9. Just as with Byrd's mine dropped right in. The original had metal embedded in the plastic, much like the forward rails on the Kahr polymer frames. Don't know if it would have failed completely eventually but now I don't have to worry about it. Thanks Kahr, and Byrd!
Anytime! Interesting that yours had metal in it. Mine was all polymer. I don't know either if it would have failed, but over the years it had gotten kind of musy on the release of the mag. The all metal cured that issue!
