High Capacity Day At The Range

Finally hit the range today after taking way too long off from it. I took a Foxtrot Mike FM9 with 33 round Glock mags, A KelTec CP33 and a Taurus TX22 with extended mags that hold 25 rounds.
The red dots on the 9mm and the CP33 were adjusted a bit low and I could not remember which knob adjusted elevation, so I ended up just correcting my point of aim. Both ran excellent and put a few hundred rounds each down the range. Was very happy with their performance.
The Taurus was one I picked up a while back and had not yet fired. The mag extensions worked great, except on the last round. Caused a malfunction ever time on that last round. That last round was not quite making it all of the way in there, leading me to believe it is the spring that came with the extension. I’m not that worried about it though as if I was ever using that mag I’d have thrown 25 rounds towards my intended target before getting that failure. I may follow up with the manufacturer though to see what they say.
I also wanted to try out the Amend 2 Glock knock off mags that I had bought for the AR9’s I own. I ran 1 mag each and they ran perfect. I had read bad things about the knock off Glock “fun sticks”, but the Amend 2’s had good reviews and a price that was alluring. Maybe I have to run them more to see if they hold up, but so far so good. Overall, a great day at the range!

Nice ! I didn't know that stuff was available for the KeltecCP33. I built a few AR9's and AR15/AR22 over the past couple of years - slow, down time at work leaves alot of time looking at Gunbroker and all the retail websites. I started with the Palmetto State Armory AR9 when it was $599, and then it kept going from there. I dropped a CMC Flat 3.5 lb trigger in mine, sometimes you can snag them for $100 - it's the best $100 you can spend. I still cringe a little every time I pull the trigger on my 33rd 9mm mags, so I found 22lr uppers from Bear Creek Arsenal to top off another PSA AR15 5.56 pistol that was $550 - I had hoarded 25K rounds of 22lr ammo before the liberals took power so i can blast away for 2.5 cents/round without any guilt - LOL!!

Yes, the 22’s sure are fun and a lot cheaper to shoot for sure. I do have a few of the 333 and 555 round boxes of the cheap stuff that I got prior to the uptick in prices, but I had mostly stocked up on the 100 round bricks of the higher velocity, brass plated stuff back when it was about $7. Wish I had bought more of both, but still have around 4k rounds all total.

I got the FM9 on a trade, with the red dot and LAW folder, and had about $450 in it before the muzzle device, so am happy with the low $ amount in it. The factory Glock fun sticks are crazy expensive though, hence me getting the Amend 2’s. I did get 3 of the factory clock mag’s on sale a while back though, on sale at Brownell’s was just over $100 delivered.

I also got my wife an Extar EP9 from their website delivered for cheap, then put on a carbon fiber forend, muzzle device, red dot, polished mil spec trigger set from Midway (most after market triggers will not fit an Extar, this one came highly recommended) and replaced the plastic buffer stop with a stainless one. All in all both AR9’s were/are relatively low buck.
You sound like me in that you wait for the good deals and then make ‘em better! I’ll check out that trigger you mentioned next time I go to the range as I recently picked up an 8” AR15 pistol. PSA lower with a nice Dragon Armory upper. I’m not sure what trigger it has in there, but if I don’t like it so much I will get one of the one’s you mentioned. Thanks for the tip!

I also have a few Ruger 10/22’s with a dozen of the BX25 magazines. Upgraded those with extended mag releases, did the bolt release mode and Vortex scoped them. Those are usually my main 22’s to shoot as that KelTec is rather new to me and the mags are honestly a pain to load. You’ve got to get the rounds staggered just right, so the 10/22’s are more enjoyable in that department. But, can’t beat how light the CP33 is. Could hold it up all day. Not so much with the 10/22’s as they are the original one’s with steel barrel clamos, trigger groups and butt plates. Cheers man!
