Well boy's, Friday I am headed off to Fort Sill OK. Hard to imagine that decades ago I was in that place on a cold hill during the same month shooting howitzers each day. Now a son there now Training to leave to Northern Iraq. He is a Combat Medic.
Pray for all our Troops. God Bless them all.

And May God Bless the American Flag and United States of America!

Thanks all. i deleted a lot of the post, too much of a Proud Dad stuff. I will say anytime I see the American Flag makes me a little tear eyed and proud at the same time. I really do pray all the time for our Young men and women in the Military and always give thanks to the Vets.
I was at the Gun Range yesterday and their was this very Old Vet. A red hat that said USMC and Korea/Viet Nam. He was with a very young lady about in her teens. She was helping him shoot. I had to take the time to thank him for his service. What a contrast of the Old man and the Young Woman. You know she was proud.

Awesome King! I certainly would never mind reading “proud Dad” stuff. Congrats on raising the boy to be a real American with patriotic values. We need more. Many more. So, you and the wife get busy, ok?!?!? :)

Especially the wife, my wife was pretty much a basket case the whole time our youngest was in the Marines. She was so happy when he came home. Admittedly, so was I.
I think the communication is better now days, there was a mom's group for our Marines that kind of kept us up to date and status etc without loose lips sinking any ships of course.

Good look to your son and congrats to you and your wife for raising a great boy!

I'd kind of like to go back and see how things are compared to 15 years ago when I was there. I wonder if they still have all of the t-walls up all over the place? Pretty sure the places I laid my head down at night are no longer around.

Thanks to all. We have seen so many pictures in the past few years of Our Flag being so disrespected, Antifa etc. Sometimes I think we may forget that there are a whole lot of fine young men and women that do exist.
Yes, I am worried. I do a lot of studying of Iraq around the Border now. But try to put that out of my mind. I do remember well, living on a Marine Corp base that was mostly Wives that had husbands in Vietnam. It was hell for these ladies. All trying to cope with worry and raising kids. Remember well how the neighborhood would freeze seeing the Green Squad car coming up the hill with the men in dress blues to deliver bad news. Mothers and wives, the unsung hero's.

That's a really nice story. My Dad was both a Korean(navy) and Vietnam(army) veteran also. He passed away with his hat on several years ago. A very proud patriot who raised his children the same. Good luck to your son and God Bless him!

The saying while I was in the Navy was, "The toughest job in the Navy was being a Navy wife."

My wife can attest to that, and I would say most of the married guys agreed with that statement. I know I did.

I saw a few guys get those “Dear John” letters when in the Persian Gulf. Testament that it was just too hard for some wives, or too lonesome. I do agree that it must be tough for them. I would not enjoy it were it the other way around. Heck, my wife just spent 2 days at a resort with her girlfriends who were in town visiting. That sucked. I can tell you though, I learned that my dog seems to enjoy a bit of beer just as much as I do!

Just thought I would share this. My son has been in Iraq now since the last post. I received a letter yesterday from Command Central. (actually addressed to him) A personal letter from the General to him commending him for his work in setting up a aid Station and the work he has done there. (He is a combat medic). In the past he has told me many times about the station that he set up, a old steel truck container and how he works there for hours. He is quite proud of his little Container.

For a Command Gen. to send a personal letter to a enlisted man say's a whole lot about the General.
May God Bless America.

Bird, I will certainly tell him about how all my friends here wish him the best and Thank you all. He does have a lot of faith. Before he went to Iraq he loved his Church. Every Sunday attendance, Bible school in the middle of the week, Youth leader, and Bible study for children, Organizer for the Christmas Homeless.

Faith, Family and love of the United States of America.
May God bless all these fine Young Men and Women!
