Last weekend in downtown Atlanta a group of fun loving young women for a girl’s party rented one of these rolling bars and after trying to go down 14th street which is a pretty good down hill slope, attempted to make a left turn onto West Peachtree but since those things apparently don’t handle too good being top heavy and all with those little skinny tires and a fair amount of lard aboard so guess what happened, yep Laquisha couldn’t quite make the turn and flipped the pedal bar in the middle of a very busy intersection……Oh the Humanity, all those Red Solo cups full of ice cold beer smashed and puddled up all over the road along with 16 very drunk fat girls with injuries, some serious requiring trips to the ER……The driver was charged with DUI ………Makes you wonder who in the city business license office thought this was a great idea…….

To all those thinking of moving here, or just visiting, be aware of the following especially all the people wanting to move here from New York and California as well as many other heavily populated cities across the country.


Before you come to North Carolina to visit you must be aware of what is happening here. Especially, around the north Georgia mountains, rural areas and along our beautiful coast. There's a housing shortage, rent has tripled, and folks are vacationing here in record numbers...

So if you plan on moving here, or just plan on vacationing on our beaches, river bottoms, mountains or lakes this summer, I think you should know that wolf spiders, fire ants and bedbugs have infested hotels and motels across the state due to dryer than usual weather. The woods will eat you alive with ticks and chiggers.

Our lakes are full of snapping turtles gators, fresh water sharks, and creepy old guys wearing speedos.
Our rivers are full of drunks in tubes peeing themselves while the banjo players lay waiting in the bushes.
Panthers have eaten many domesticated animals and possibly some small children.

The local bear and coyote population are all 'in heat' and think your wife/girlfriend is hot.

Snakes... don’t even get me started on the Water Headed Copper Moccasins,, the Diamond Back Rattler Cobras and the Death Adder Pythons.

The poison ivy has overtaken all other vegetation.
We have had bear sightings at every park and town they are after your picnic baskets….and some cougars have been spotted in motel rooms and bars.

Watch out for the armadillos, they have been extremely aggressive this season.

In North Carolina we have the Skunk Ape invading our parks and it’s their mating season. Porcupines are "stabbing" small children should they dare to utilize the local playground equipment.

Skunks have multiplied at unprecedented rates and wander the local campgrounds in packs looking for beer.

Murder hornets!?! We’ve got great black clouds of murder hornets, and swarms of giant crickets and even some Oklahoma grasshoppers.

Scorpions have been congregating in massive quantities under rocks, logs, wooden steps, automobiles, and tarantulas are now stealing peoples food and biting like crazy.

I’m pretty sure all private tiger owners (we had a jump in them after Tiger King) have released their cats into the streets of our cities and towns.

Head lice now fly and we have vampire bats. Oh, and no one is vaccinated. I think you should stay in New York and California. The tourist ads I see on TV say those are great places.

We lived in Charlotte N.C. From 1982 until 1991 and it was a very nice, beautiful small town, big city at that time but my company shut down that office and we came back to Atlanta which was home and while I was born and raised in Atlanta Ga. it has become a war zone with several shootings/murders every day by 14 year olds with guns and it has become insane to even walk around here and there are almost daily road rage shootings for no reason other than somebody was driving too slow……..Atlanta has become a dangerous jungle and I am thinking selling the house and moving to the mountains may be a smart thing to do what with Brandon’s new economy and teen gang wantabe’s everywhere wanting to prove their manhood…… I would much rather deal with panthers, poison turtles and killer bees than urban rage filled killers and a Democrat run City that arrests hard core criminals then puts them back to the street because they are “woke” and just don’t care…..

For years during every football bowl season, while the rest of the country huddled indoors against polar weather, I've decried the benighted television producers, with their lingering, panoramic television shots of beautiful, sunny, 72 degree California vistas of gently waving palm trees lining broad bays of sparkling waves crashing onto bikini-laden beaches.
How I wish they'd instead shown the Watts section-8 housing, Bakersfield in Panavision, icy & dirty Santa Cruz beaches, hotel receipts with their endless add-on taxes, & side-by-sides of California gas prices with anywhere else in the country, and maybe a shot of SF 1BR studio apartment prices & some MLS listings.
If only we could wind the clock back and adopt Grotman's approach.

Don't remember age, but as a young pup in grammar school having bb "fights" with others in neighborhood. Everyone wore Levi's, but they were the old type you stood up in the corner. Rule was below the waste which we mostly did. I did go thru the bbs those days and was good at it. The skills carried over through each gun as I grew. Even hand guns until my hands failed me with basil joints total Wipeout. Don't have any guns now except house 12ga. Good memories!

I did a remodel for a lady who didn't like squirrels in her bird feeder. The back door of the house was one of them split doors, where you could open just the top half.
I'd leave her a not on the kitchen counter daily with anything needed or issues etc.
She told me if I ever saw a squirrel in the bird feeder to shoot it with the BB gun behind the half door. It was easy 30 feet or so to the feeder. She told me to pump it 10 times. I thought yeah right.

Well I'm leaving the note one afternoon and I see the squirrel in the feeder so I thought what the heck, I'll take a poke.
I pumped the gun 10 times as instructed but it was really hard. Didn't figure I'm have a snow ball chance of hitting it.
I pulled the trigger and it was like that squirrel got hit by a 30/06, blew it right out of the feeder and back several feet. My first thought was damn, gotta get me one of these.

Well long story short her husband told me he'd already pumped it up 10 times so it was ready. Guess I added some velocity with the extra 10 pumps.

I was riding in the truck with my 36 year old daughter the other day and a squirrel ran across the road in front of us and I went after it trying to hit it but missed and my daughter was freaking out and I had to explain that they were yard rats because if you’ve ever had squirrels in your attic chomping on your house wiring at 6am it forever changes how you look at the little a holes…….Now about BB guns, when we were about 10 my friend and partner in crime Mike both had Crossman 760 pump BB guns and on one after dark late night mission we ended up at our elementary school…..The back entrance had a wall made of opaque glass blocks about the size of concrete blocks but a little smaller so being 10, unsupervised and with heavy weaponry in our hands we decided to see what would happen if we shot at that glass wall……Well glass is very hard and the shots were bouncing off until I hit one right in the middle which said oomph and spider webbed……We ran home and hid out for several days until we figured the heat was off and we never got caught for that one………

Funny part was back in 2019 another good high school friends grand daughter was graduating elementary school at the very same place so we went to the ceremony and I was amazed how small everything looked with little tiny hallways and water fountains but afterward I had to know if that back wall had been rebuilt or changed so I walked back there and amazingly enough the glass block wall was still there 50 years later with one block still spiderwebbed and never repaired……..I didn’t know if I should be ashamed or proud of that shot…..

Yep, quite a ceremony. My son and both grandsons as I told them my story about dad's Colt. When finished, I asked my son what he'll call it and he replied dad's Colt as each grandson in turn, understanding it would be their dad's colt passed down. It's now a true family heirloom and I'm proud of that. Ps, they appreciated the custom grips YOU made for me. You da man and will for always.

I work 2nd shift, 4 to midnight and have for many years mainly because I hate waking up early in the morning and usually turn in about 3:30 or so and when you are awakened at 6:00 am by the little bloody bastards chomping on the siding trying to get into the attic it makes a person a little bit CRAZY……I first tried to sneak up on them with a BB gun but they would hear me and scamper off before I could get a shot and they wouldn’t fight fair so I next tried a squirrelanator trap in the attic I paid 60 bucks for on Amazon but no luck, SOB’s are way too smart for that trick which is probably a good thing because if I had caught one I might have gotten out the blow torch and had some sick fun…….In the end what ran um out was 2 strobe lights at either end of the attic and an electronic audio rodent repellent machine and not sure if it was the strobe light or the ultrasonic sound thing but they haven’t been back so I claim victory BUT if I see one crossing the road in front of me it’s on like Donkey Kong because I have a long memory………

I managed to pick up a few boxes of Fiocchi .357 practice ammo on GB for 23 cents a round last month. It seems to be the best priced ammo lately. I don't use it in my auto's but fine for revolvers. If you keep your eyes open, you can find the occasional deal. I use the term deal loosely.

Ha, I went to Academy this evening and saw more 9mm than I’ve seen in years. About $20/box. They had WWB .45ACP in 100 round boxes and I grabbed one, plus a 500 round box of Aguila .22 LR. Just one of each, since I left my Kentucky Jelly at home. $64 for the .45.

That’s not too bad for .45 acp at $32 for fifty, not great but not the prices I was seeing at the last gun show I went to a couple months ago…..If you are a .45 acp shooter then you have the best, most trusted round that is tried and true and I can’t imagine Chesty Puller ever carrying a 9mm anything because he trusted his 1911 .45 acp to do it’s job even with FMJ ammo…….The first 9mm I bought is my PM9 and I love and trust it and I bought a M&P 9mm for a house gun mainly because I don’t see so good anymore and I figure more rounds is better when there’s a bump in the night……..If you are a .45 guy then stick to it even if it costs more because history is on your side and shows it performs as advertised…….

One eared Admiral:

Seeing that picture and thinking about the possible "safety issue" of seeing to the back with a rear view mirror caused me to remember a long gone fad. Does anyone else remember the "see through" screens with pictures on the outside for the rear glass of a pickup truck? I put one on my '68 Chevy short/stepside in 1971 and don't remember any major issues. I did take it off after a few months, but I don't remember why. I do remember seeing them quite a bit for a couple of years, but can't remember seeing anything of the sort since the late '70's.

I know someone who bought a Kia EV and he estimated the charging at home to be something like $3-4. That was probably not a full charge, just the overnight top-off.

Well, since the electricity they're charging with is generated with fossil fuels, instead of them getting tax breaks for their "green" cars we should get the break for essentially subsidizing their ability to not pay what we're paying.
