A farmer stopped by the local mechanics shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn’t do it while he waited, so he said he didn’t live far and would just walk home.
On the way home he stopped at the hardware Store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store he now had a problem – how to carry his entire purchases home.
While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, ‘Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane’
The farmer said, ‘Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can’t carry this lot.’
The old lady suggested, ‘Why don’t you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand’
‘Why thank you very much,’ he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home. On the way he says ‘Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there in no time.’
The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, ‘I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?’
The farmer said, ‘Holy smokes lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?’
The old lady replied…… ‘Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I’ll hold the chickens.

I don't think I would want to be a ball turrent gunner.

It would be OK on a B-24 with a tricycle landing gear, oh wait, B-24's didn't have ball turrets. Never mind

The under belly ball turret on a B-17 could only be entered while the plane was on the ground and once inside there was no way to escape once the plane was airborne and even if you could get out you had no parachute and if the landing gear wouldn’t come down for any reason you became a skid plate and runway roadkill………These were mostly under 20 kids that were willing to do this even after watching their friends go down in flames and they did it over and over again to save the world so that kids today could paint their hair green, get tattoos, nose rings and protest for green energy and the right to kill unborn children……

Getsome is mistaken, you could exit into the plane. See video linked earlier.

getsome
08-06-2022, 12:13 PM
I stand corrected, I didn’t know they could do that……I will say this, the inside of a B-17 is very small and cramped making moving about difficult at best……My son and I took a ride in the “Liberty Belle” a restored B-17 that used to come to the spring air show at Peachtree Dekalb airport and it was a blast, that thing was extremely loud and every part of the plane vibrated like it was alive but it was quite an experience and I can’t imagine being in one for hours at -40 degrees while being shot at thinking you were about to die……Sadly the plane was on it’s way to another show in the Midwest and they had an engine fire and set it down in a corn field where it burned but there were no injuries….There’s still a few flying but not many…….

One symptom of cataracts was seeing a black dot when looking through peep sights. But I didn’t really know till an older eye doc who knew what he was doing looked and saw them.

The operation was so uneventful, I’d almost volunteer to do it again. Zero pain. No real discomfort, quick outpatient surgery, but eyedrops for a couple months or so. And no rides in warbirds.

I opted for lenses of fixed focus, for close up vision, so I wear bifocals to drive with the bottom part zero correction.

I had this surgery on both eyes back in 2011. I had started wearing glasses about five years earlier and reading glasses for years. Since the surgery, no glasses at all, not even for reading. They waited two months between the two eyes in case something went wrong. It was fairly expensive, $7000 for both eyes, but Kaiser paid $6300 and I only had a bill for $700. I would advise it for anyone.

BTW, no pain at all, but I did have to use drops for two months.

MAY BE FITTING FOR SOME OF YOU "MORE SENIOR" MEMBERS

Julie Andrews "A Few Of My Favorite Things" has changed over the years.

Botox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things

Cadillacs and cataracts, hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak, When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pain, confused brains and no need for sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache, When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Last night I was out for a few drinks and a meal. One thing lead to another and I had a few too many beers and then went onto the wine, finishing with coffee and brandy. Not a good idea. Knowing I was over the limit, I decided to leave my car and took a bus home. Sure enough, I passed a police checkpoint, where they were pulling over drivers and performing breathalyser tests. Because I was in a bus they just waved it past. I arrived home safely and without incident, which was a real surprise as I’ve never driven a bus before and I am not even sure where I got it from. Now it’s parked outside my house and I don’t know what to do with it!

I also don't understand why these "v" people find the need to try to copy the taste of meat using only non-meat products. X amount of water in 5 gallon bottles. x amount per resident per day for X amount of days. 100 bed facility. After I did the math I asked the administrator where we would store this amount of water. He mentioned the residents day rooms of which we had 2 of. He called corporate for advice when I told him that the weight would exceed the floors load limits. He had to get a contract from a bottle water company to supply it when if needed.

One gets cantankerous after passing 3/4 of a century and is approaching 80.
But for the record, I am not a vegan - as this prime NY Strip I grilled & consumed Sunday.
Overcooked it a little though.

Nope, that’s perfectly cooked and makes me hungry! By the way, is you my daddy?

Pre-marital confessions to each other.
Sandy had to confess to her man about her childhood illness.

She informed Jim that she suffered a disease that left her breasts at maturity of a 12 years old.

He stated that it was OK because he loved her so much.

“I too have a problem. My peni$ is the same size as an infant and I hope you could deal with that once we are married.”

She said, “Yes I will marry you and learn to live with your infant peni$.”

Sandy and Jim got married and they could not wait so Jim whisked Sandy off to their hotel suite and they started touch teasing, holding one another.

As Sandy put her hands in Jim’s pants, she began to scream and ran out of the room!

Jim ran after her to find out what was wrong.

She said, “You told me your peni$ was the size of an infant!”

“Yes it is: 8 pounds, 7 ounces and 19 inches long…

Marriage
A group of 12 women were at a seminar on how to live in a loving
relationship with their husbands. The women were asked, "How many of
you love your husband?" All the women raised their hand.
Then they were asked, "When was the last time you told your husband you
loved him?"
Some women answered today, a few yesterday, and some couldn't remember.
The women were then told to take out their cell phones and text their
husband "I love you, sweetheart."
Next the women were instructed to exchange phones with another woman and
read aloud the text message they received in response to their message.
Below are 12 actual replies from their husbands. If you have been married
for quite a while, you understand that these replies are a sign of true
love.
Who else would reply in such a succinct and honest way?
1. Who the hell is this?
2. Hey, mother of my children, are you sick or what?
3. Yeah, and I love you too. What's wrong?
4. What now? Did you wreck the car again?
5. I don't understand what you mean.
6. What the hell did you do now?
7. Are you sure this is for me?
8. Don't beat about the bush, just tell me how much you need?
9. Am I dreaming?
10. If you don't tell me who this message is actually for, someone will die.
11. I thought we agreed you wouldn't drink during the day.
12. Your mother is coming to stay with us, isn't she

Darwin award winner……A young man named Antoine Sims went in a Kennesaw Ga. McDonalds and ordered a burger and fries but when he got the food he was upset because the fries were not hot so he started yelling and threatening the counter employee because the fries were not to his satisfaction so the manager offered to give his money back or replace the fries with new hot fresh ones but it would take 10 minutes or so but that didn’t make Antoine happy so he made more threats and went outside and called Kennesaw Police…..The manager also called Police because of the threats the young man made about harming the employees…….Kennesaw Police responded and talked to Antoine about the problem and offered to make an official report but when they asked for his ID he got real nervous and ran away, they chased him for quite a distance before finally getting him to the ground and handcuffed…..After running his ID they found he had a warrant for failure to report to court for a 2018 double murder charge where he and two friends shot a couple to death in a botched drug deal then drove their car to Gwinnett county and set fire to the car and the bodies………How Antoine was out on bond for murder after 4 years is a mystery which explains why we have such a crime problem because if you don’t keep criminals locked up bad stuff happens…….As for young Antoine the moral of the story is, if you have an active murder warrant out on you then soggy fries ain’t so bad and certainly not worth calling the Police over……….

Today’s plumbing tips brought to you by Getsome……..Now I think of myself as somewhat of a handyman and since my name is Tim that makes me “Tim the Toolman” thank you very much…..….Last weekend our garbage disposal died and started leaking and made a huge mess under the sink so after removing crap that’s been under there probably since from the 70’s I figured it would be an easy fix so I went to the Depot and bought a direct replacement unit and figuring how hard could this be so I didn’t read the instructions because hey, real men don’t need any instructions right?……Well it went pretty good and after hooking up the dish washer drain hose and getting it wired up I was pretty proud of myself and the leak was gone and it seemed to work properly…..

A few days later we ran the dish washer and it wouldn’t drain so I cleaned the filter but still no go but it was about 12 years old so we figured it needed replacement so we bought an $800 dollar super turbo charged 800 hp German made machine that I spent all day Saturday installing which nearly killed me but by God I got it done so today we ran it for the first time and guess what, it didn’t drain so thanks to YouTube I found out there is a plastic plug in the garbage disposal you have to knock out that if I had bothered to read the instructions I might have known about but after removing the disposal yet again and knocking out that stupid plastic plug thingy everything seems to be working fine now except for my old wore out body which may never be the same again after this weekends adventure………If you need a perfectly good dishwasher give me a call, it’s out at the street waiting on the trash pickup but would still be in my kitchen if I had bothered to read the @*#$§% garbage disposal instructions and there’s probably a good reason why they include them in the box………

If your reference to "German made machine" means it's the brand that starts with B as in Bosch, It's actually built in New Bern NC. Nice town, nice people, super manufacturing facility.

Yep that’s the one, seems like a real nice machine and much quieter than the GE it replaced which sounded like a Cat D5 dozer when it was running…. Nothing wrong with the machine at all but the installer was the problem……..

Don’t feel bad. I’ve Been there and did that all, fortunately I did see the plug by accident when I replaced the disposal which made me look at the instructions though so i only took the under sink dive once. We Replaced our GE with a Bosch when we remodeled the kitchen. Not because there was anything wrong with the GE but wife said it was too loud and the white dishwasher was turning yellow. Well I could have just not looked at it and turned up the tv to be happy, but that wouldn’t do for her. I protested but then she brought up how much I spent on guns so needless to say I lost. I agree it is a lot quieter (the dishwasher that is, not the wife.)

By the way, you still driving that bucket truck?

Wives can’t shut up and run quietly, design flaw from the manufacturer I suppose…….I gave up the bucket truck when an inside central office job in downtown Atlanta came open and every now and again it seems odd to be inside and see the same place everyday but I’m getting used to A/C and not having to deal with crazy drivers and working in the badlands of SE Atlanta where daily gunfire is considered a natural normal thing……

Thanks Bird but unfortunately it really happened because I was lazy and in a hurry but it did work in my favor somewhat because now if something plumbing related needs doing the boss refuses to let me anywhere near it and calls the plumber…..I act like it hurts my feelings until I’m out of her sight and give a big ole YES arm pump……..Should have thought of this a long time ago!

Turns out some chemicals work good for certain colored clothing, some not so much. Also turns out that some clothes shouldn’t be stuck into a dryer. I really do miss doing laundry though! (sarc)

Did you end up in the Biggest CO downtown? Isn’t that the Courtland CO? I was a CO tech from 1995 to 2000, took a CO managers job from 2000 to 2014, then a CO Engineering job from 2014 till I got mad and retired in 2021 last year. When they told me I had to get the jab, then support their “PRIDE” and BLM agenda, I told them no thanks, I’m retiring. Glad I did too. I miss payday but that’s about all. A little boy goes to his father and asks 'Daddy, how was I born ?'

The father answers, 'Well, son, I guess one day you will need to find out anyway! Your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on Yahoo. Then I set up a date via e-mail with your Mom and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, and googled each other. There your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that neither one of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button ,nine months later a little Pop-Up appeared that said, “You’ve got Male!”

First text message:

Hi, Morris . This is Saul, next door. I've been riddled with guilt for a few months and have been trying to get up the courage to tell you face-to-face. When you're not around, I've been sharing your wife, day and night, probably much more than you. I haven't been getting it at home recently. I know that's no excuse. The temptation was just too great. I can't live with the guilt & hope you'll accept my sincere apology and forgive me.

Please suggest a fee for usage and I'll pay you.

- Saul

Morris, feeling enraged and betrayed, grabbed his gun, went next door, and shot Saul dead. He returned home, shot his wife, poured himself a stiff drink and sat down on the sofa. Morris then looked at his phone and discovered a second text message from Saul...

SECOND TEXT MESSAGE:

Hi, Morris. Saul here again. Sorry about the typo on my last text. I assume you figured it out and noticed that the darn Spell-Check had changed "wi-fi" to "wife." Technology, huh? It'll be the death of us.

I think it was a bottle of Annie Green Springs I lost the cap too at about that age. Haven't touched anything wine since then. I still vividly recall the bed spinning like the blades on a helicopter for about 3 days. No wine for this kid.

Went camping and drank a case of shorty Schaefer beers and a half a bottle of slow gin. Sickest I've been in my life. It rained so hard; you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. I ended up sleeping on the floor of a park men's bathroom, smelling smells I haven't encountered since. I had borrowed a friend's sleeping bag and, between my drunkenness, and the smells, I trashed his bag. I ran into my friend a few days later and told him what I could remember about the camping trip. I told him that I had his sleeping bag in the trunk. I opened the trunk and the look on his face was priceless. I was still in the same condition as the camping night. Then I told him that I was going to toss it and handed him a new sleeping bag worth twice as much as the trashed one. He was relieved.

I fondly remember the beer bong. Drink a six pack of beer in under 15 seconds. Good times, I tell ya! Never did care wine in the least, though my first wife tried to get me to drink it. Hence, the reason she was my first wife, and that didn't last long.

I was at a Falcons game way back when they played at the old now defunct Ga. Dome and this very drunk girl was trying to make it up the stairs to the main level by going side to side using peoples heads as hand rails and they even put it on the Jumbotron screen for everyone to see, well she fell several times but finally made it all the way up, turned around and did a bow and the whole stadium gave her a standing ovation…..

oh man, I had forgot about those. Our delinquent teen Neighbor had one about 3 foot tall. I was a delinquent teen then too, so I can’t say anything. I changed after growing up. He never did. He actually died a few years ago at age 58. Think he spent time in prison too.

Ole Tom
Old Tom was nearing the end of his life. The doctors had tried their best but it was only a matter of time and the priest had said his farewells. He lay there alone in his bed and he could hear his wife busying herself in the kitchen. There then came the unmistakable aroma of chocolate éclairs.

They were his favorite. His calls went unanswered so he decided to try it for himself. He struggled out of his bed and crawled along the floor down the corridor to the kitchen. On the edge of the table he could see the éclairs on a plate. He struggled to reach them and as he did so there was a sudden crack across his knuckles with a heavy spoon.

"Get your hands off those, they're for your funeral."
