View Full Version : What was up with the ransomware redirect this morning
When I checked in this morning, or tried to, it redirected me to a page that said the site had been encrypted. And in order to have it returned to normal the person who did it would need to be paid $2. Yep $2. I reloaded once, same thing. So I closed the page. Now it seems back to normal.
I run Nortons, keep it up to date, and normally have dozens of pages open at any one time. This was the only site that seemed to be affected. Anyone know what was going on?

I have several anti-viral and malware sets of software. I ran them both and found nothing, but the misdirection continued. So I went elsewhere. I'm glad KT is back.

I did not have any issues yesterday morning. Sounds like a DNS problem, not a KT problem. Your DNS is usually located at you ISP.
DNS (Domain Name Service) is sort of the phone book of the internet. When you type in KahrTalk, it looks up the correct IP address and sends you there.

I was getting a blank page, just a white screen, no redirects. Two dollars, eh?

It's not your computer, it is the site. I had a friend try to log on yesterday on his computer and he got the same thing. To day it has cleared up.

My computer has been telling me that this in an unsafe site for months. Won't let me post pics. It's been telling me that posting info can cause you to be hacked. The other Kahr forum was the same way. Both non secure sites.

The picture on the hack asking for $2 did look like a biker tattoo so you may be onto something.

Not sure what happened but the site just wouldn't open Friday night and most of Saturday I think it was. I contacted JohnH and he was unaware but got right on it. Everything seems to be back in order now.
I didn't get any redirect or threats of ransom. I sometimes feel left out although some yahoo keep hacking my fakebook account.

Glad it wasn’t just me, I got hacked on my Visa card a few weeks ago for $1500.00 at Home Depot which Visa made right and sent me a new card and all was good but when this clown hijacked Kahrtalk it caused me to lose sleep thinking they were after me again because there seems to be a fokin thief under every bush on the internet these days and I want to see a new law where hackers get handled like horse thieves were from the past and end up getting hanged on a short rope from a tall limb which might make the next hacker think about what they are doing…..

1 in 10,000 get caught. Pathetic
