I’m sure a lot of you have ‘em and use them as intended.
I had a little basic Chevy S-10 thirty years ago and a C-10 in the 1970s. Nice, plain utility vehicles for me & the family.
But who would really buy one of these?

The C-10's were nice trucks.........For that amount of money, I could put my house on wheels.

I had a 1970 Chevy C-10, inline 6 with 3 on the tree. You could lift the hood, sit on the radiator with one leg on each side of the engine and remove the valve cover. I paid $1000 for it used back in the early 80’s. Drove it for a while then sold it to a guy for $1000 who planned to drive it to Alaska.
I now have a 2006 Toyota Tundra w/ 152,000 miles that just got new tires last week. Funny, those tires cost me as much as I paid for the
C-10. But…. I only paid 10% of what that Ford sticker shows for my Tundra ($21,000) and my 2006 Toyota, although it may not be as pretty as that new ford, will outlast that Ford the way they make them today.
True story. When I got those tires last week the mechanic checking the alignment came in just to tell me “Don’t you ever let anyone talk you into selling your truck. You will never find another one, what ever truck it is, that will last as long as that one.” The new Tundras are not the same Toyota they used to make. When that mechanic told me what he did I told him about going to the Toyota dealer and a salesman trying to get me to trade on a new truck. I found out that he didn’t want the new sale as bad as he wanted to buy my used truck for himself. The old trucks were built to last.

$212k? WTAF???
I had a GMC Sierra extended cab in about '02 or '03. Great truck, but too darn big to park without hitting stuff.

Holy cow, that is more than I paid for my first two houses...combined! Hope I can just continue to drive my 05 F350. 275000 miles and I hope I can at least double that.
Had a 73 C10 with the straight six and three on the tree. Substituted a built 350/350 and new rear end. 85 C10 and broke a valve spring at 235,000 miles. I hate to trade in.

We still have a 97 Chevy Z71. All 3 kids drove it back and forth to school. It's approaching 300,000 miles but still going strong. About all we use it for now is hauling hay and going to the dump. Wife keeps bringing up buying a newer truck but if I have my say it just ain't gonna happen.
Same with my van, it's a 2000 F word van with 160,000 or so miles. New vans are ridiculous money wise. I may have to get a newer one as it's the only vehicle I ride in but I'll put it off long as I can.
Please tell me that window sticker is a hoax, or a mistake.

I went to Ford dot com and couldn't "build" one that reached $100k, let alone double that. But who knows. $83k is still frudiculous.
And that is not a new car sticker....I'd sure like to know the story behind it.

How much is the new Jeep Wagoneer fully loaded?
The Series III has a starting price of $109,995. The Series III includes the Convenience and Premium Group II packages into one expensive trim level. The 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Series III Obsidian is the most expensive, with a price of $110,990.
So, it looks like it's about $60K too high :)

And that is not a new car sticker....I'd sure like to know the story behind it.
Ford has a new F-150 Raptor R coming out. It is a V8 Supercharged motor that Ford built to compete with the Ram TRX (Hellcat).
This is probably one of the first to hit the dealers. So.....if you want the newest toy, dealers will make you pay a ridiculous ADM (which I assume is that dealers add on sticker) .
As of today, the Ford site still doesn't show this model in its "build" section - who knows why.

I've had a few trucks in my time. An '86 Mazda B2000 that was great but we sold it when baby #1 came along. Went truckless while the kids were growing up, then got an '07 GMC followed by a '15 GMC. Both were like trying to park a pontoon boat. Last year I combined my "Jeep Thing" and my truck thing and got a Jeep Gladiator. I still think it was too much money, but it isn't anywhere near $200K!

Only shiny new rig I ever owned was a Mazda B2000 extended cab. Drove it for quite awhile, then needed bigger so sold it to my mom who drove it many years, and my son ended up with it and mail man ended up buying it.
Before the chair I was always a truck guy. Got my first van when still vertical for working carpentry. Had it set up pretty sweet with just about every tool a guy could need. Stuff had a chance to dry out while commuting unlike a pickup with side boxes etc.

I’m going to drive my 2002 Chevy Silverado Z71 4WD until I’m dead and then they can put my dead ars in it, turn up Skynyrd on the radio and plant the whole thing 6 ft under…….This has been the absolute best vehicle I’ve ever owned and the first 4WD and even though I don’t use it much, let me tell ya, when you need 4wd it’s a life saver and I’ll never have a nothing but 4WD again…….I’m at 240k and the only issue so far has been an alternator and a fuel pump but that’s nothing…….The heated leather seats are holding up fine and I keep up the maintenance so I’m hoping for 300k out of the 5.3 and trans then I could spend 10k for a new GM crate motor/trans and maybe a paint job and go another 300k…..Hard to beat a good ole Chevy Truck and I’ve more than got my money’s worth out of it……..

My first vehicle in 1969 was a classic '57 Chevy that I spent all my money on to spiff it up - unfortunately it got t-boned on the driver's side and totaled. That was my one and only car as a personal vehicle. From 1970 to 1983 I had various Chevy p/u's, Ford p/u's and one Dodge p/u, then later at least a half dozen Nissan pickups (extended cab, standard two seater and four door). I had planned to trade my 2003 four door 4X4 in 2013 but work got in the way and I was in no hurry anyway. In 2015 I had my first experience with emergency surgery (foreign cyst on my colon right beside the appendix), then 2016 the mysterious cranial nerve issue popped into the picture which resulted in surgery to insulate the nerve. Complications reared their ugly heads and I ended up having emergency surgery (about 12 hours after getting home from the first surgery) to mop up a brain bleed. With all the insurance deductibles, copays and loss of work ... and later only being to function at 40-50%, savings were depleted and it seem like everything in the house decided to break down at the same time. So, I'm still driving that 2003 Nissan. The paint is almost gone now, the rubber window trim is in bad shape, a few dents - and you ain't gonna find most replacement parts in stock. As long as it will at least get me to the shooting range, gun shop, gas station, cigar shop and liquor store (I think I covered all the ATF items), I'd be happy to just hang on to it. There dang sure isn't anything currently on the market that I would want to go back into debt for. Seeing "Old Red" (well mostly still red) in the driveway is comforting.

All the priorities are covered so I’d say you’re good. Sounds like me and my 06’ tundra now. I did paint the hood and roof last year just to keep down the rust.

The best trucks are free trucks.
My son’s agricultural land bank assigned him a loaded 4x4 Chevy for his use. Also the bank pays for all gas for up to 12,000 miles annually. He pays for all excess gas milage. Bank takes care of all maintenance. He gets a new one every 3 or 4 years.
Sweet perk.

When you worked outside didn’t your employer give you a new truck every 20 years or so with no air conditioning whether you needed it or not? I remember working like that on the gulf coast in July and August. It was miserable and I was only in my 30’s then. No way I could do that now.

They gave me a good truck to work with, the A/C was decent and the heater worked pretty good but the problem was I’m old and when I got to the work site and tried to set up cones to make a secure work position and then had people do their damn best to try and run me over then I got a little bit upset……...We are not allowed to carry weapons on the job but sometimes I wish………..

If I was loaded, (money wise, not booze). I would get a 1950's 5 window GMC truck, and put a modern chassis and drive train under it. One of those LS crate motors with around 450HP. I would be in hog heaven.

A truck built like this??

I'd like one too...
But i'll just have to settle for my 2021 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and a 3.92 posi rear end. Too old and broke down to build my own anymore, but I still have a hot rodders heart.

The only truck I've ever owned was a 78 Dodge D-50. Mitsubishi 4 cylinder, 4 speed, nice wheels, custom paint from the factory. For a 4 banger, it had lots of pep. Good mileage. Nice to drive. Handled well. Throw away vehicle. The metal on those trucks was awfully thin. Rust buckets.

I got lucky and bought it off Craigslist. A woman professor at Carlton College was the original owner [it came with full dealer maintenance history]. She gave it to her daughter and son in-law. They were going to have a baby so she bought them a new 4runner "so they would be safe". The son in law made the mistake of telling me this. It only had 75000 miles on it. He continued to tell me that she said he could keep whatever he sold it for. So to be a great guy and help them out I gave them $4500 for it.
You Sir, got an unbelievable bargain there. So how long have you been enjoying it?

Watch out for the cops when you drive it because you stole it at that price.
I would like to see local a 2006 or 2007 sequoia like that for about $3000 - $3500 that was clean and I’d be all over it. You will never see one around here for that price.

Yeah, I didn’t know Jeepster was an SUV thief!
Nice buy…. And really a fair price for an older model.
Similar in age to the 4Runner one of my sons inherited from his late nephew last summer. This one has 170,000 miles on the clock and runs like a top.

Speaking of SUVs here is my mom and dad with his "new to him" Gull Wing Tesla X.

I've had a few trucks over the years. Currently have a 72 Chevy K20 (project), 99 Chevy 1500 4wd (parts truck), 2000 Blazer ZR2 (hunting/offroad), 2001 Chevy 1500 2wd ( trying to figure out whether to keep or sell, no use for a 2wd where we live), and last but not least, 2001 Chevy 2500HD 4wd with Durmax/Allison combo (towing/hauling/work truck).
