Greetings All!
New to the forum here but just got my hands on a AO Thompson 1927A1 Mfg date 9/14/2021. I'm so excited! I have wanting one of these for 40 years now. I'm in the twilight of my life and my friends saw it fitting to gift this weapon to me last Saturday. I'll have lot's of questions for you guys! The only thing that I don't like about this weapon is the 50rd drum mag. I just jams and is a real pain in the ass! However, I have (3) 30rd sticks and (1) 20rd stick that runs flawlessly.
I would post pictures been don't know how. It asks for a URL. What's a URL?

Welcome Waistgunner to the forum! Those AO Thompson are so cool and you are lucky to have one……I don’t know much about them but there’s a good bunch of folks here that have experience and knowledge of those bad boys……As for posting pictures I think you have to have 30 posts but there’s other ways and Boss Bawanna can help you out with it, I’m old and technically challenged so I don’t even try to post pictures but again welcome to the place, glad to have you aboard!

I too had issues with my drum magazine, it just has to be loaded very carefully which I apparently wasn't doing at first. I had much better luck with my stick mags. I modified my mag lock to accept the original mags also, so you don't have to enlarge the hold and ruin the original mag. I'm told the no longer make those mags, fortunately there's apparently a lot of them out there.
I don't shoot my Thompson much, haven't had it out in a very long time but it's where I can fondle it on a regular basis.
You do need 30 post or you can post from an outside source like tinypic or postimage etc.

Welcome to Kahr Land...from Minnesota.
I think URL is what GIRLS:cheer2: are now called. We now call them URLS so not to offend anyone. :yo:

URL is the internet address of the picture.
I personally use https://imgur.com/ for my free picture hosting.
You can upload the image to a hosting service.
Copy the URL of the picture.
And use that to post here (once you've got the minimum post count under your belt).
Welcome :)

Finally got my 50rd drum mag working on a consistent basis. I had dropped it when I first got it and didn't think anything about it. There was a slight dimple that was causing the rounds to stick. Bent the mag and dimple out, reshaped the mag, and now it runs like a swiss watch. That gave me hell for about a wek trying to figure it out!

Happy Ending. Somethings even though simple can be extremely frustrating. Glad it worked out for you.

Expect so, I know I wanted one for a very long time till I finally got one. Many are quite surprised how much these things weigh. You see guys handling them like plastic in the war movies. No wonder they gave most officers M1 Carbines which weigh nothing compared to the Thompson.

No kidding on the weight, I wanted a Tommy really bad until I finally got to hold one and almost couldn’t pick it up……Very beautiful cool rifle but I just can’t figure out why the thing weighs so dang much……..I guess those guys in the gangster movies were weight lifters or sumpin…….

I think the bolt on the thing weighs 6 or 8 pounds, it's heavy. I've heard the full auto ones aren't quite as heavy but still no light weight.

Son number 1 was driving cross country to his next duty station and stopped by a gun shop with a range in Ogden, Utah. They had a rental full auto tommy gun he rented and shot. He said it cost him $50 the rental and a box of .45 for about 60 seconds of firing but was the funnest $50 he ever spent.
