Took my Dad's old High Standard (Sear's MDLl 66) out for it's cleaning. Man that old gun brings back some memories. Mom bought it for him on her own for a Christmas Present. Shot my first Dove with it. (She even got the deluxe Model with the adjustable choke. Hard to imagine this gun is about 60 yrs. old. Still looks great. Time Fly's!

A $119.00 back then was a lot of money.

$120 in 1966 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $1,123.57 today, an increase of $1,003.57 over 57 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 4.00% per year between 1966 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 836.31%.

Back then my Dad was a Young Marine. I talked to my 92 yr old Mom and she said she can remember the day she bought it. She knew he wanted one, but would not put out the money as they were on a tight budget.

That’s really cool KR……I miss Sears, back in the 80’s when I was turning wrenches for a living I would stop by the mall on payday and look in the tool department to pick up a wrench, socket or maybe a screwdriver and I was proud to own USA made Craftsman tools which I still use today…….Sadly Sears is gone replaced by Amazon but the mall is still there but it’s just an empty shell, makes me sad……..

Sears was American as Apple Pie. Miss it dearly.

I had a Sears .270 that my dad gave me about 20 years ago. Took quite a few elk and deer with it. Gave it to my nephew when he turned 14 or 15 years old. First thing my brother wanted to do with it was put to put a muzzle brake on it, he is a wimp by the way. I told him to give me the rifle back, but he promised he wouldn't mess with it. Even though it was branded as a Sears, it was a pre-64 Winchester Model 70. I looked at as an heirloom gun and it needed to stay in the family. I had 2 other .270's and figured it was time to pass this one on to the next generation.

Aah memories. My dad has the pump model that my mom bought him for their first anniversary in 1958. Nothing deluxe about this one but man it has taken a lot of dove in my lifetime.
