While most folks dislike Winter, It is my favorite season in Southern Virginia. La Nina which lasted about 4 years was unbearable. HOT. All my life I have worn a favorite Hunting Jacket during the fall and winter hunts. I never once wore in this past 4 years. Very warm deer hunts, etc. Well if you are into Weather, then you know that things are going to change dramatically this winter. El Nino is coming in FULL FORCE.
Get ready.

I sure hope so! Like you I have not had to really dress for winter the last couple of years. El Ninio also means above average rainfall here. Living on a lake that is 8 ft low and going down every day we need the precip.

It's a fine edge sword in these parts. We didn't have a lot of snow last winter. We're way behind on rain. Yard looks like a desert. Garden is getting lots of watering. The map shows me in a polar vortex. From what I've read, we should have a warmer, wetter winter, which is ok with me. Wasser bitte...................

On call maintenance in polar vortex means overtime heat calls.

Our primary lake around here is at 42.5% full with no real rain in sight.

Who let the dogs OUT?

It is as if the tropospheric polar vortex is a backyard full of dogs, and the jet stream is a fence. The dogs are always trying to escape through gaps in the fence. Occasionally a few of them manage to get out and cause a few days of very cold weather. But once in a while, the entire fence collapses and almost all of the dogs run wild. That is when the big cold-air outbreaks happen.
