There is one gun that I look forward to every range session with. A gun that I truly have FUN SHOOTING! And that is the Ruger LCR9mm. I just love this gun. Bought it in 2010 when it first came out in production.
For about 13 years now have on so many occasions loaded up 40 moon clips the night before a range session. Always end up wishing I have brought more ammo.
That is a lot of ammo over the years and a testimony to the quality of this Ruger Revolver.

Yesterday had the LCR and the Smith 642 out to shoot side by side. For me there is no question, the LCR9mm is a much better shooter even with the Custom Trigger of the Smith. Shooting the Ruger with the 124 gr. 9mm provided a sweet recoil that was pleasant to shoot. The Lighter 642 is a great revolver but never shoots as well. Of course it is much lighter, and so does get carried more often.

For me, it is any single action revolver.

I bet the 9 would be nice. We rented a 357 back then and of course had to use range ammo. It was absolutely brutal. I shot one cylinder and let my son shoot the rest. It was a canon. I love the single action revolvers too. I need to work some loads for my birdshead 45acp. Don't hit too good, could be the lack of definite sights too I guess. Still love it. If I wasn't such a 1911 fan and it was accurate, I'd probably carry the thing everyday.

For me it is the first new Ruger I ever bought for myself at age 15 in 1959. This Single Six that has untold thousands of rounds down the pipe is still as tight & solid as new, although the anodized finish is almost all worn off the grip frame.

Beauty for sure. Not many kids today would save up for classic 22. (or anything for that matter). I have a Heritage and I have seen so many of the Wranglers. But they just pale to the real thing. I cringe every time I see the wranglers with the Cerakote jobs. Definitely a gun made to last a few lifetimes. All of the Ruger single actions have reminded my as a Icon to America. America Proud and Strong!

Before the avalanche, I had a Single Six Convertible. Carried it every year hunting for elk and deer. A well placed round to the base of the skull was the best mercy shot for a critter that had big antlers and outweighed me by 5-600lbs and hadn't expired yet.

I guess I'm a bit boring compared to the rest of you guys, but my most fun to shoot gun is my HKP2SK. A compact that shoots like a full size and tames my .40 cal. It's set up exactly how I like my firearms to operate. The firearm I shoot best. My cold months carry. Also like to shoot my SP101 which is more challenging. I've got a Novak sight on the rear which helps. With the trigger work it's had, feels like a Kahr trigger. Still a challenge with .357 loads.

I shot my HK P30 and P30SK last week for the first time in a long time and I have to agree with you that those HK’s are fun. To my surprise I actually shot them better than a lot of my others I have shot recently. To celebrate I ordered a new holster for the P30sk to get it back in the carry rotation. I hope to run across a deal on a 9mm 2000sk one day as I think the mags interchange with the P30. I would probably get a .40 too if I saw one.

That said, I need to shoot my metal DA/SA Sigs too.

I really like the design of the HK.Of course who would not want fine German Engineering. Should have visited the Plant when I was stationed near there in the Army (Germany). I really like the way they designed the Trigger and the Trigger guard.

HK Law Enforcement Modification trigger system
Smooth and constant 7.3-8.5 lb. trigger pull
Simple-to-install modular grip panels
Industry-standard mounting rails
Recurved, hook trigger guard
Rear de-cocking button
Two 10-round magazines

My first store bought new gun was a Single Six also. I sold it once but ended up buying it back. It was like 107 bucks when I bought it, like 350 when I bought it back. Wasn't gone long, think I sold it for the same amount as I bought it back for.
Got the mag cylinder, covered a lot of trails with that gun.

Yes, the P30sk would be the one I would like to shoot/own. It seems the Europeans feel differently than Americans that want the super light "crisp" triggers. Looks like a perfect trigger and like the Paddle control. Never paid a lot of attention to them, because I do not see many. Too bad they do not make a Micro 9mm. I would even like to try the Standard trigger. Something tells me, it is smooth as well. That said, out of my price range. If I was younger, it would be the gun I would definitely consider for a sub compact. Lol, I will have to stick with my SR9C. At least it has a safety.

For me, the paddle mag release is a much better system. Once you get familiar with it, it's so much easier to reach and operate. Really helps with people that have smaller hands or always have trouble reaching the mag release with their shooting hand thumb. I have the paddles from an HK45 installed which are oversize. I got tired of reaching for mag buttons and not being able to reach them without changing my grip or even using my other hand, and I don't have small hands. It also takes care of a problem I've heard about, an occasional issue where an IWB carrier's mag release is accidently pressed when against the body, pulling out their firearm with an unseated magazine. (Depending on firearm and holster of course) I know many people who have this reach issue, but they just put up with it. The release plus the long bar slide stops, make operation smoother. I love the HK V3 trigger. Mine is about 7.5 lbs. in DA and 4.5 in SA. The first part has take up. Feels like a Kahr trigger and then you hit a wall. Then it feels like a single action revolver. Short reset and designed for fast shooting. It also works well for target shooting. Also, there's never a question about your magazines coming out smoothly. HK's fire them out. I also like not having a safety and a decocker on the back. Out of the way, easy access. Also, I like having a hammer. Not only for visual, but you can put your thumb over it when holstering. All in all, HK makes firearms that would be/are my #1 choice in protecting myself and family.

What holster did you order? I've been looking for and wanting a new holster for my SK for awhile now. Since the VP9SK came out it seems like the P30SK has become the red-headed stepchild.

The mags do interchange

it is actually an inexpensive suede leather with a metal clip. I’m hoping it’s relatively thin as the P30 is a little thick and I carry IWB and with the heavy DA trigger I don’t worry about it going off. All my striker fired ride in a kydex. I wish OWB worked but I’ve got skinny and been stricken with flat-ass syndrome since I’m getting old and OWB now drags my carry side down even with a good belt. Fortunately AIWB and pocket carry are still good. Been using a thick IWB Don Hume I think it is and it’s like carrying a 4x4 in my waistband. Sometimes I red-neck carry it or my P30 with the grip hanging out of my pocket if I’m going to the gas station since we can open carry around here and nobody thinks anything about it. Plus it’s easy to get to if I need it. I know, I’m the oddball probably.

I use a Cook's kydex OWB or a leather slide type. Also use Remora's for 3 of my firearms. Tuck and go.............

Ah, I was hoping it was a leather OWB holster. Thanks!

I have a bag full of Remora's. They are comfortable, but in 40 years of carrying they're still the only holster I've had a gun come out of unexpectedly.

Yeah, you can't be doing a lot of bending over, or running a marathon, but that's why I carry, so I don't have to do either.............I use them for mailbox trips, town runs, and they tuck in nicely between the car seat and the console without marring up a good holster.

Here is my summer fun. I call it "Wind Shooting". I use this Pellet Rifle. A Baikal IZH MDL 60 aka the little Black Russian, Single Shot with a Bug Buster Scope. The Barrel has incredible accuracy and has a 6 way adjustable trigger.
The goal is to shoot the Center Vein of a leaf on a day with a slight wind. It is total concentration. Most of the time, I will get totally lost with time. What feels like 15 minutes could be a hour. You have to wait for the precise moment the leaf stops moving.

Thats cool right there. I need something like that for my back yard. I could set up something to attract all the wasp we have been dealing with recently and have some fun.

I've been trying to thin our squirrel population with a Crossman Diamondback .177 rifle with a 3-9 scope. I have it zeroed for headshots across the patio, but I only get to shoot when the missus isn't home and then I need to clean up the blood before it dries. She feeds birds, so the squirrels have lots to eat. And now with all the plants and stuff grown up, they have lots of places to hide too. I'm thinking that any trigger time is time well spent.

That's some fine shootin' with that Baikal, Rat!

One of my favorites that is a ton of fun to shoot is the FN PS90. Perfect for first time shooters with its cool looks, no recoil, and easy to achieve accuracy.
