I’m the same. I went to my favorite outdoor range yesterday at 3 o’clock and it was 92 degrees outside but it has shade. Nobody but me there and it was nice.

Following my retirement I have been a RSO for 12 years at a magnificent indoor facility. We have ten 25yd, and toe 50yd. along with a four bay 50' adjoining range.
We have at least one RSO/instructor in the range at all times and usually there are two to help with new shooters, gun problems, and pushing brass off the floor. We also have a cleaning room and we have shown hundreds of new gun owners how to field strip and clean their firearms. We also have been known to move sights, get the gun running after a frozen slide, minor repairs that would have involved the need for a gunsmith, provide all versions of tools necessary to tighten mounts including locktite, literally mount and help sight in dots and scopes, and over the years stopped the shooter and removed a squib load a handful of times all at no cost to the customer.
To date, we have made thousands of people happy and to date ZERO accidents of any kind. Love my job.

I went there with a friend who had taken some training there. Nice place. You are watched like a hawk by the RSOs. No hood rats allowed.

I could never shoot being watched like a hawk. I understand in some area's it's probably a must thing. I rarely go to the range but the one I go to they can see thru the glass and on camera but they leave you alone unless somebody does something really foolish.

This is my favorite range and it's usually just like this every visit. Sadly I only get there a few times a year and it's 6 hours away.

Update to this story, the Stockton California Police plan to press charges against the store owner for Assault and Battery with a deadly weapon….This was the 3rd time this punk had pulled a strong armed robbery in this same store and the owner had enough and even though the thug pulled and showed a large knife they are charging the store owner………Why do people live in California?

Found a country song I really like from a new guy named Oliver Anthony called Rich Men North of Richmond……I almost stopped listening to country since the CMA people went WOKE but this guy seems to be the real deal and is getting attention from other established artists offering help and professional recording studio time since this song was released about what average Americans are living through now…..

Dilly Bars..........they were good. In my younger days, I worked for a company that supplied pool tables, pin ball machines, darts, skittle ball, every bar game known to man, AND cigarette machines. I was a rookie and worked with an old guy that had been there a long time. I'm not sure what was up, but I had an idea. When you drop off an order for pool tables, pinball machines and cigarette machines, and you drop them off in the basement of an old decrepit building with nothing but a dirt floor and 2 1942 Buicks sitting there. Probably about 10,000 sq. ft. Downtown industrial Milwaukee. One room with a few women sitting at desks with phones in their hands. Nothing else. Hmmmmmm. One day they tell us to get rid of these old cigarette machines at the scrap yard. We took 10 machines to the yard. The boneyard guy was running a big magnet crane. We could just slide the machines to the end of the truck, and he would pick them right off with the crane. At the time, I thought it was amazing, and smart. He picks one up and the old guy I was working with was giving the crane guy some kind of signal. Next thing I know, he takes the machine up about 25-30 ft., and drops it. My partner says let's go. We jump down off the truck and we're picking up cash, at that time, lots of coinage. We did all of the machines like that and made quite a haul. The guy I worked with went over and had a quick chat with the crane operator, and we were out of there. He explained that it's always good to know the crane operator, for safety reasons of course. I didn't ask if the crane operator got his cut, and he never told me. He said that the most likely scenario was, whoever owned those machines was loaded, and that machine money was pocket change. He said there were a lot of those machines. I asked if he ever dropped pinball machines or any other machines. He said they didn't waste the time because odds were, they wouldn't have much money in them. For whatever reason, the cigarette machines usually paid off.

Wow, those clunky, cardboard record players were ubiquitous. Don't recall seeing a Dennis the Menace one, though.

We had a few books of Dennis the Menace single-pane comics floating around the house, and I remember looking forward every late Fall to whichever Christmas catalog it was that featured topical Dennis cartoons - likely Montgomery Ward, JC Penny, or Sears.

Dunno why it sticks, but I remember one particular cartoon featuring Dennis' embarrassed Dad draped in a cover sheet and sitting in the barber's chair, while Dennis says to the barber something like, "Hey, wanna hear a poem my Dad made up? "'Clip, clip, scissors n snip. Watch my ear and button your lip'" "
That was a particularly enjoyable theme to my young self: Dennis parroting something awful that his parents had said with the target of their mordancy sitting right there.

The generator works great and I have plenty of gas for the season... 15+ gallons in the gen' and 40 in cans. That $4.65 a gallon ethanol-free stuff is expensive, but 89 octane and runs great.

I remember those punch cards. My mom was a programmer back in the early 70's and used to bring the discarded cards for me and my brothers to play with. I never understood why, though. She tried to explain what they were and what they were used for. Still didn't understand. Calculators weren't out on the market yet, only slide rules.

Per AAA, $5.269/gallon is the avg going rate for plain ol' ethanol pump gas hereabouts.
I keep a few gallons of Tru-Fuel for the regular-use 2-cycle gear, but that runs about $25/gallon, so I have steel jerrys of pump gas for longer-term generator storage, and I switched to using Star Tron last year. It boasts longer preservation times than Sta-bil and is well-reviewed, but I'm still a bit skeptical. Should be sufficient for annual refresh, though.

I grew up with no personal computers, smart phones or satellite TV.
I've been a professional computer programmer since 1977.
My first job we coded programs on paper with number 2 pencils.
Keypunch operators took the coding sheets and generated paper cards with holes in them.
I would then take the box of cards to a computer operator to feed them into the computer.
