Yep, had one adventure with some Boone’s grape once many moons ago and was sick for near a week but it has since kicked COVID’s ace three times so there must be something to it and it seemed to work much better than anything “Big Pharma” has put out…….Think about it, if you gave your dog 3 rabies shots and then he got rabies anyway wouldn’t you figure that rabies vaccine wasn’t what it was cracked up to be……..

Nice ride Colonel!

I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but I'd rather say it than later regret not having said it.Your trike looks to have a fairly high center of gravity and being that fast, be careful with your turns. I ride a trike occasionally and at speed it can get squirrely in turns. The trike's extra weight makes it harder to slow down and the momentum carried in to turns can raise a rear wheel off the ground...too high and it can flip on you.

I get the squirrely part. I already cut the seat post down twice. Might cut some more. I took the seat off a power chair and put it on the trike, much more comfy. I'd like to lower the seat even more. Handle bars are low as they go so it's almost to like those ape hanger bars on motorcycles or getting close. Too add to the squirrely thing, the front brake is the only brake I can work reliably. The rear brakes work off a foot pedal. Which I have to keep my foot off of as it disconnects the power when a brake is applied. I might in a jamb be able to get my foot on it but not a sure thing. Also have to make sure its charged enough. Spent 20 minutes in my driveway waiting for a push. Low on juice and it wouldn't go up the drive even though it's not very steep. A bit of a push and it got going but of course I couldn't do the little push.
We'll just go easy and hope not to crash and burn.

It looks to me that the handle bar stem is a foldable type. You can probably find a shorter folding stem online. At the very least, a shorter conventional bike stem could be fitted.

Do you think the rear brakes could be converted to hand operated? Brake hand levers with motor cutout switches are pretty common these days. The ability to cut the motor out while braking is a big plus in my book.

Darn, you might need a cooler, an umbrella, and a flare gun for those dead battery moments. I use the "Ride with GPS" app on my phone when out riding. My wife can track me if I send here a link via a text message from the app.

Greg

Nope, the steel ones were accumulated by my parents decades ago.
I am not a collector, but inherited 1/3 of my Dad’s collection of Spanish Reales (Pieces of Eight) that he acquired in the 1950s through the 1970s.
I had one mounted into a pendant for the wife when the Atocha sunken treasure craze was going strong. A lot cheaper my way than spending $1,500+ on one of Mel Fisher’s salvaged coins.
Good thing, because she has only worn it once or twice - she doesn’t care much for gaudy trinkets.

I still have $20-$30 worth(then) European money before they went "Euro" from my 3 years in Germany... 1983-1986. And I still have what I inherited from my dad from his "collection" during WWII. Among them was a Mexican Reales piece of silver with a defect from 1836.

20205 20207 20208

I have hung onto it because that was the year the Alamo fell. ;)

I've lived in or been stationed in Texas quite a bit. My daughter was born in Wilford Hall at Lackland AFB, 1975, and my wife was born in Wichita Falls, 1956.

I used to consider myself a Texan with about 20 years there... until we moved from San Antonio to Jacksonville, FL, in 1997. We've been here over 26 years now. I was born in Tampa, but moved after 7 years to MS, then Texas, then MS, then Texas, then MS for high school before the USAF in 1964.

Altamont engraves a lot of guns and sells them on GB, as well as their own site. For some reason they never do Compacts or Commanders. Though they do Kimber Micro 9s. And a LOT of wheelguns.
That one there is very handsome. But I'm with you concerning the rail. Perfect grips for that gun too.

Regards,
Greg

I put the chair seat on my trike, cut the post down about 6 inches (so far). Added some mirrors, found it hard to look back while underway. Nearly got run over. Usually stop and look back before I turn around etc. Looking closely it looks like I can probably cut the handle bar post down also. The issue is I can only lower the seat so much and still have room for my legs. Pondering an addition to the floor board so my feet could be out front kind of like your doctor trophy wife on your trike or perhaps more so like easy rider. Still have to allow for the front wheel turn radius.

Three Dogs
Three Dogs

Three dogs were sitting in the waiting room at the vet's, when they struck up a conversation.

The Black Labrador turned to the yellow Labrador and Said "So, why are you here?"

The yellow Lab replied, "I'm a pisser. I piss on everything...the Sofa, the curtains, the cat and the kids. But the final straw was last night, When I pissed in the middle of my owner's bed."

The black Lab said, "So what's the vet going to do?"

"Gonna cut my nuts off" came the reply from the yellow Lab.

"They reckon it'll calm me down."

The Yellow Lab then turned to the Black Lab and asked "So, why are you here?"

The Black Lab said, "I'm a digger. I dig under fences, dig up flowers and Trees. I dig just for the hell of it. When I'm inside, I dig up the Carpets, but I went over the line last night, when I dug a great big hole in my Owners''s couch."

"So what are they going to do to you ?" the Yellow Lab enquired..

"Looks like I'm losing my nuts too," the dejected Black Lab said.

The Black Lab then turned to the Great Dane and asked, "Why are you here?"

"I'm a humper," said the Great Dane. "I'll hump anything. I'll hump the cat, a pillow, the table, fence posts; I want to hump everything I see."

Yesterday my owner had just got out of the shower and was bending down to Dry her toes, and I just couldn't help myself. I hopped on her back and started hammering away"

The Black and the Yellow Labs exchanged a sad glance and said, "So, it's nuts off for you too, huh?"

The Great Dane said, "No. Apparently I'm here to get my nails clipped!

Hillbilly Therapy
Cletus is passing by Billy Bob's hay barn one day when, through a gap in the door, he sees Billy Bob doing a slow and sensual striptease in front of an old John Deere tractor.

He performs a slow pirouette, and gently slides off first the right strap of his overalls, followed by the left. He then hunches his shoulders forward and in a classic striptease move, lets his overalls fall down to his hips, revealing a torn and frayed plaid shirt.

Then, grabbing both sides of his shirt, he rips it apart to reveal his stained T-shirt underneath. With a final flourish, he tears the T-shirt from his body, and hurls his baseball cap onto a pile of hay.

Having seen enough, Cletus rushes in and says, "What the world're ya doing, Billy Bob?"

"Good grief, Cletus, ya scared the bejeebers out of me," says an obviously embarrassed Billy Bob.

"But me and the wife been having trouble lately in the bedroom department and the therapist suggested I do something sexy to a tractor."

I agree. Always like the nose of the 56 better than the 55. Course I've always loved the 57 for some reason. Parents had a 4 door 6, 3 on the tree. Traded it off in 68 for a station wagon. I never got to drive the 57.

Been modifying my new whip. Cut the seat down almost a foot, left the bars for now for that easy rider look. Need to stretch to look over or duck to look under. Jury rigged some foot holder out on the front wheel to get my legs untucked. Shows promise but a work in progress.. Need to figure out something to get more miles on a charge. Only good for about 7 or 8 now and making it up the drive near the end of that is challenging.

Looks like you’re getting there, but maybe add a scabbard slung by the side of that bucket seat to hold a short 12 gauge like a Shockwave.
You know….just to clear the traffic in front of your path.
And a cup holder. Now that’s a must have.
Then a bracket with a high intensity light for nighttime duty.

Didn't even think of the gun. It's there all the time. I put a shirt or something on when I leave the place or go to town. Don't bother when mowing or working around the house.
Also semi ashamed to admit that is actually a 9, my relatively new Tisas. Guess my true 45 reputation is down the commode.

Hey Colonel, are those adjustment holes on the down tube? If so, can you increase the rake by choosing a different hole? And if so wouldn't that bring the bars down closer to your chest?

Bawanna
09-23-2023, 05:09 PM
Naw those are stars painted on. I did think of changing the rake but that would be too intensive for my meager metal working skils. I'll have to cut the lower tube to get the bars down. I was going for the ape hanger look but in practice, it doesn't work for me. My balance ain't great anyhow so while I think the trike is plenty stable, maybe I'm not. Lowering the bars I think will help.
Still a work in progress. Raining today so making sawdust which makes me happy.

dao
09-23-2023, 05:45 PM
Ah, I see. I don't know what the size of the tube holding your bars is, but you might be able to bring that to a muffler shop and have them put a bend in it to bring the bars closer to you. If it's aluminum you might be able to get one made up out of stainless that would be stronger if bent, so long as you/they are able to match the size.

Something else you might want to check into are some half-moon shaped cups that you could put the heels of your shoes into. I would imagine that having your feet fall off those bars at speed would not end well. Also, the more weight you could add to it down low would stabliize it and make it less top heavy. Some steel cups/brackets to hold your feet would help in that respect too.

Colonel: I just watched a Count’s Custom’s episode where they took a lady’s Harley and upgraded it. Where she had pegs for her feet before, the replaced with a sorta D shaped foot rest. Wonder if they could be mounted. So far, looking pretty ergonomic to me. With my bad back and knee, the way I see you are sitting, I think I could sit like that for a while.

Actually where my feet are I have squares. My foot center is on the peg, but my heel is sitting on a slightly smaller steel rod box so it can't slide off down or sideways. My feet won't fall off, actually have to work getting them out. Wife suggested we strap my feet but I don't like that idea. If I crash and burn I don't want to be strapped to the trike.
It was supposedly very stable out of the box. Designed as a triangle and engineered etc. I wasn't fond of the single post the seat sat on and figured the shorter it was the stronger it would be. It didn't flex even up high so guess we're good there.
I think when I get the bars lowered we'll be ok. Seems fall has arrived here suddenly. Rain and really cooled down so rides might be a bit fewer for awhile.

Glad to hear you've already got foot support.
I've set up my last few bikes so that they've essentially been EZ Boy chairs on wheels. I like leaning back against a backrest when I ride. And getting the bars closer keeps the dreaded neck ache from occurring. But what works for me is not necessarily what works for you. If you are comfortable with your set up that's the only thing that matters. Keep the shiny side up Colonel! When the weather allows you to ride again that is. The rain is very welcome right now, but like most Nor'westerners I'll be ready to complain about it after about three days.

Looking at the photo again, actually the main reason I had the wife take it, I see where your coming from. Would be nice to have the bars closer. I could mount the seat closer but kind of limited as I have to get my leg thru there to mount the beast.
I may try to get another handle bar post to be safe and cut it or have it bent. The stem of the bars is very long, almost the full length of the fold down pipe it rides inside.
I'll probably have to remove the lower end to get the bars out, so I don't have to disconnect all the stuff hanging on the bars. Work in progress.

Yep, and one of the reasons us guys who enjoy working with our hands or just figuring things out like the challenge of doing so. I'm sure you'll figure it out, and enjoy the great fun of riding it when you have the chance to ride it after having gotten it set up just as you like it!
