About 5 or 6 weeks ago my son gave me this dehumidifier sack of pellets to put in my safe.
When the pellets were all gone and the sack drained, there were two cups of water that it had soaked up.
I never had heard of those before. HD sells them, as does Lowe’s.

My safe came with a "golden rod", I think it's called. Supposedly dries the air with a bit of warmth, though we live in a fairly arid area. Never have had any rust in the least. I don't think those damp rid bags would be able to pull much moisture out of the air here. Probably don't even need the golden rod thing.

I used to use them in my basement. They did suck up a lot of water. I think I'd opt for the smaller variety first.

This type is re-usable, and we've had one in a closet for many years, so I'm giving it a try in one of my safes.
When it's saturated it changes color, then you flip out the AC plug, leave it plugged in overnight, and it's ready to go again.

I turn my A/C on in the spring set to 74 during the day and 70 at night. Crackers stay crisp so do my guns.

Goldenrod in my safe for nearly forty years. Never had any rust or damp paper issues.
