Guys and DK2D. I received a rather sad PM from Mr. Jocko today and even though he did not grant me permission I feel compelled to share it with the masses.
Apparently last Friday he was involved in (his words) A pretty good motorcycle accident. He received many stitches in the head area, a mild concussion and major road rash. He says his right arm don't do much good right now but is optomistic he will get better. No word on the condition of the motorcycle (always a bikers first concern) or the condition of the PM9 that was undoubtedly in his jeans pocket.
Anyhow he indicates he will probably be off line for awhile and doesn't know sh!t from shinola right now which of course isn't surprising.
I hope he forgives me for sharing this information, I know he would never do it himself.
I of course wish him all good things and hope he's back astride his Harley in short order. I know he was looking at new 2011 models so maybe this is an omen to get a new one.
Anyhow for anyone that's wondering where the main man of Kahrtalk is, this is the story.
Get well Jocko.

As another who has fallen (yes I know there are two types of bikers; those who have and those who will) I've got a way to help with the road rash (keeps the scarring down) PM me if you want it. Keep your head up and try not to out run that head light again.

A little bright side to this otherwise gloomy picture. Turns out it was his wifes motorcycle (big sigh of relief) that he crashed (for the second time). He ordered her a new 2011 Street Glide today to help with his recovery. Now it's unclear if the injuries are from the crash or the wife. Word is it was quite a crash though and we're lucky to still have him to pick on us when he's mended.
You just gotta climb right back on and let that ole Harley know you ain't scared of it. I might not have that 100% right, might be dogs or horses or maybe hedgehogs.

I gotta remember to ask my doctor about ADD next time. He told me last time that Dementia and Ahlzeimers were not the same. I asked what the difference was and he said he didn't remember. For some reason I was ok with that.
I guess ADD must fall in between those two someplace. Guess next time the wife is beating me for not paining attention I can beg for mercy on the condition of I got ADD. If I remember to try it that is during the beating. Kind of like shootings its those fine memory skills that go out the window during a beat oh look a bird flew by the window. I think it's a yellow bellied dem bird.

Hey Bwanna...I have found that binge beer drinking helps with my ADD because after a while you forget what it was you forgot about and by then it doesn't matter anymore so pop open another one and forget all your troubles!!!...Remember what my hero and idol, Homer Simpson says, "Heres to alcohol, the cause of and the solution to all the worlds problems"....

When I visit my kin in Missouri their favorite saying is Lets get drunk and be somebody. You ain't from Missouri are ya?
I intend to test your binge theory and will report back when I'm able to run the keyboard. Best wait till I get home though, city government being all PC and all they frown on happy forgetful people that wanna be somebody while at work or whatever it is I do when I'm here earning my daily bread.

No dig, all good things come from Missouri. I apparently didn't meet standards and got the boot when I was young but I hated leaving then and would like to come home. I got lots and lots of people there, nieces and nephews I haven't even met.
Like they say Missouri got the mules and Illinois got the Swedes on account of Missouri got first choice. Don't tell my Swede wife that one, she's been in kind of a I want to beat you mood lately. I no doubt deserve it too.

They musta really booted you real hard for you to end up in Washington. And I doubt it's the Swede thing that has your (must be wonderful) wife lookin to wup you bad! Course I can't talk, I'm trying to squeeze a couple small items in under the cutoff. She be for it but 'nough is 'nough now ya hear!

Yup true story. My dad told me there were near parallel fingernail marks accross our front porch. His from when he got drafted into the Marine corp and mine not quite as deep, I was still a lad from when they drug me out here. I guess you could blame it on the Marines now that I ponder it. He met my mom while stationed in Seattle. They moved back to MO when he was discharged. Due to lack of work and trying times and the woman always getting their way, we moved to Ballard near Seattle where her family lived.
As a side note he got a deferred entry into the corp on account of my dad was the only one that knew how to drive the school bus. They let him wait till school was out to drag him off.
Thanks for setting JohnH on me, hanging on to my job by a thread due to poor city management and spending and now get the boot from Kahrtalk. The black cloud never gives me a break. I want to be planted next to Rodney Dangerfield.

09-30-2010, 04:43 PM
Oh so now we dig on the Corps? You know there are those of us who willingly left and joined the Corps. Remember I have friends in your neighborhood.
Bawanna
09-30-2010, 04:56 PM
In my own defense I tried to join the Corp first, they wouldn't take me cause it was kind of a lull peace time when every one was reloading.
Remember dad was just a country boy, never been to the big city, slopping hogs and farming. I'm sure the very thought of the corp scared him to his very roots. Think Gomer Pyle but couldn't sing.
He didn't need the corp, he had good moral values already, the corp needed him. Had to be a real eye opener for him for sure.
Please dont send no corp buddies for me I already chewed up 3 army guys and a couple navy dudes this morning. I'm kind of tired.
oh man, I just saw this thread. With all the malware warnings lately, I ran into the corner and burried my head into the sand for a while until things calmed down.
Jacko----we miss you around here and pray for a speedy recovery. get well soon and hurry back!!!!

Sorry to hear about Jocko's crash. I totaled my Heritage Softail Classic on 07/01/10 by t-boning a deer on my way home from work. Went to the ER but was released with road rash and lots of pain in the chest where I crushed the handlebars. We old Hoosier boys are pretty tough and I'm sure Jocko will be fine.
Get well soon buddy!

Well I was waiting for his approval to provide more details. He did say he is checking the forum periodically but hurts alot and doesn't feel up to participating. Very sore, right arm next to useless. Basically feeling like he was in a bad bike wreck. He did say he was having a hard time getting his Porsche into 6th gear. I told him to cry me a river, no sympathy for a guy with a Porsche especially in 6th gear. Why he has blessed me with a couple PM's to provide details (other than I've been pestering him relentlessly) is beyond me. I'm kind of fond of the crotchety ol boy but I don't think he ever liked me much, never did and probably never will. Maybe if I get a little more crotchety we'll become good pals.
I'm gonna let him give the added crash details since they are so unbelievable I don't want to lose my reputation for honesty and you'll never believe me if I told ya. If Jocko grants me permission to share the details I certainly will without hestitation. I'm not keeping secrets, it's just his story to tell if he wants to. He most assuredly appreciates all the kind words and well wishes.
I suspect he'll get even sorer and feel worse before he gets better but have no doubt he'll get better and get right back to picking on me and keeping the forum in line in general.
If it wasn't so gosh darn far to his neck of the woods I'd grab a bottle of good whiskey and pay him a visit. I'd share some of the whiskey if it didn't interfere with any of the pain pills I'm sure he's taking. Course if he wanted to share the pain pills he's taking we wouldn't need the whiskey I guess.

Jocko just granted me permission to share his story. He advises that he really feels like crap, right shoulder is messed up, MRI scheduled to see what's going on there. Says he feels like his insides have been all shaken up and feels his age is a contributing factor. He's been in a few crashes he says but this one takes the cake for pain and suffering.
Here's the morbid details as he's shared them, I'll try not to mess em up.
So it's last friday midday and Jocko tells his missus that he's going to Dairy Queen for a shake since they are half price between 2 and 4. A local grocery store "IGA" had a freezer go bad. SO they threw away 500 gallons of icecream in a dumpster:eek: The local trash company picks up the dumpster just in time to ambush ole Jocko riding along minding his own business thinking of the upcoming shake at Dairy Queen.
Well the dumpster leaves a trail 6ft wide and 50ft shown in a picture but much farther out of the picture. I guess Harleys and 500 gallons of icecream on the roadway are not very compatible. Sounds like thats pretty much the last thing Jocko recollected till he was on his right side with his wifes Harley on top of him. He has hired an investigator on the assumption that some wrong doing might have taken place and some liability issues need to be addressed. Duh! An eye witness said she'd never seen such a low speed but horrific motorcycle crash ever. Jocko said he wasn't going fast at all, no big hurry, nice leisurely ride close to home.
He adds that he looks alot like Rocky in about the 6th round. Old Rocky didn't look too good before the fight started and he was pretty pummeled by the 6th as I recall.
Any how that's the story Jocko told me, he may never look at ice cream the same again I fear. I hope that his insides find their way back to where they belong and he gets to feeling alot better soon.
I've never heard this man complain about himself, even with alot of the things he's been thru so to admit that he's feeling poorly has got to be real poorly.
Hang in there Jocko, lots of friends here routing for your recovery.
If you get a huge insurance settlement, I'd like to be there first to request to be adopted. I'm not a vulture, just could use a little disposable cash. I'd cut the grass and do what ya tell me and stuff.
Alas Jocko did not tell me about the condition of the PM9 that lives in his pocket. I assume since he is left handed and crashed on his right side that it came out ok. I fear in contest between a PM9 and Jocko's hide, the PM would win everytime.
I'll continue to share details as he passes them along. He said he's just not up to kahrtalk right now but does look when he can. Messages will not go unnoticed.
Thanks much Jocko for letting me share your misfortune, I know many have been wondering about you, myself included.

Dang! Was the ice cream Rocky Road??
It sounds like a good lawsuit is in the works. He ought to get some kind of decent compensation. I'm thinking new Harleys for him and his wife, a few new weaponry acquisitions... and maybe sharing with the top 10 posters on Kahrtalk... say a new Kahr of our choice???
Get well, Jocko. I hope you got some good drugs to ease your pain. I hope that it won't be too long before you rejoin us... and get back on a NEW IRON Horse!
Best wishes!

Thanks for the update on Jocko. I'm a rider also and have seen this sort of things many times. These dumpster trucks and trash trucks spill Sh8 all over the roads and don't GAF who else has to ride on those roads.:yell:

Jocko -
Let me first say "hang in there and get better." I can only imagine the pain your in - you will be in my prayers.
However........ since this board is full of Smart arses .......... Am I the only one that sees the irony in this tearable tragedy? Goes out for a shake, and gets taken out by ice cream. Good thing you weren't going out to get a prostate exam, who knows how that could have turned out.
My wife always told me "too much ice cream will kill you," I just never envisioned the outcome looking like this.
