I love the grips though. If all of the gold on the grips was silver, I’d put them on a polished Colt and install one of those triggers with the stars cut through.
Hmmm… I screen shotted those grips. One of the grip makers I’ve dealt with may just be able to do a set like that. You might br seeing them and that trigger on a future project (not the Colt I’m about to do though).

My wife and I had a 6 hour layover in Mexico city once, on Vacation. We took a tour of the Chapel were her image is displayed.

Only single digit numbers are available. 002 is only $10,000!

Slide looks like they just stuck it on a laser engraver. No depth to the etch. For that kinda moola, I’d want hand engraving. I get betting/hedging on the limited numbered thing, hoping value would go up over time, but something tells me the market is gonna be flooded with “limited edition” engraved guns now that the laser guys can pump them out.

Ya’ll didn’t eat the $1 street tacos did you? In my Navy days, stationed in San Diego, we’d get hammered in Tijuana and then hit the taco carts before our taxi back to the border. Everybody said they were only $1 because they were donkey meat. I dunno. It was burried in cilantro, onions and firy sauce, so who cares. Tasted real good to a drunk guy!

I transferred out to San Diego, right after Reagan upped the drinking age to 21. I was 22 at the time, but most of my shipmates were under 21. We would go down to Tijuana (where the drinking age was 19, but the only ID you needed was cash), and go bar hopping. I had a few street tacos too. The sauce was sooooo hot, I had to be half loaded to handle them. After eating meat on a stick in the Philippines (alleged to be monkey), donkey was not an issue.

One night we were walking back to the border, about a two mile walk, maybe 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. We stop to take a leak. BAM, out of no where pops up this Mexican policeman. Charged us $20 a piece (all we had) for pissing on the sidewalk.

Reminds me of the EAA Girsan drug cartel guns.

Don't have any super shinny guns.
But I do love the look.
Have an itch for hard chrome for some reason?
Don't mind engraving.
But not really interested in it.
And it seems like many folks go way overboard with it...

Your story sounds just like many of the outings me and my shipmates had down there. One time, my buddy wanted to go and could not talk any of us i to going. He said screw you guys and headed down there by himself. Next day, “Where’s Simpson”? He was not at muster. He finally came straggling in just about quitting time, Arm in a cast and sling. He was going down an alley (why oh why would he get off the main strip? I think it was called Revolution Street) and was robbed and beaten with a baseball bat. Oh the stories I could tell from down there. Some best left behind. I bet you could too!

I’m seriously thinking about taking up hand engraving as a thing once I retire. I know the laser engraving is going to be a thing, but I think the character of a hand engraved pistol can’t be beat. Between the polishing, soon to be plating and add in the engraving, I might turn out some real gaudy guns in my retirement! ;););)

Altamont is doing some pretty nice engraving. They have their own website, but also have a store on GB. Sadly they won't do anything in Commander sized 1911s. They do these, Kimber Custom 5", and revolvers.

Their secret is what that monkey is marinated in. Soak anything long enough in soy sauce, vinegar, and lots of garlic, cook it over open fire, and it tastes great. Don’t ask me how I know but my kids grew up eating that. Maybe that’s why they liked bananas and would swing from the trees.

We took a cruise a few years back that made a stop in Cancun and we wanted to eat some authentic Mexican food so we went to a recommended place and it was ok but I’ve had better here but while we were eating we saw an entire family on a moped, father driving with two little kids in the middle and mama riding on the rear finder with a baby in a backpack, in the front basket was a very large fish of some kind that I’m pretty sure was supper that night……I looked at the wife and said, we ain’t in Jawja no more….

Oh man, I definitely need to change jobs to make money for these works of art!

Hell, my wife already disapproves of every new gun I buy or want to buy, and here for 9-10k....

I have lately been trying to "thin the herd". A few years back I could never bring in a NEW GUN without my little German Shepherd Kodi, ratting me out.
She literally would sit and stair and gun safe if I ever brought home a new one. She would sit staring at safe until my wife acknowledged her "oh Kodi is their something new in there?" That brat dog would then look over at me and I swear smirk and then walk away. She also did this with ANYTHING I brought in new.
She was a smaller shepherd from Germany [about 50 lbs].

Nice looking dog jeep. Whatever happened to a dog being a man's best friend?

Haha, that's too funny! Dogs are so smart, it's almost like they know exactly what's going on. Reminds me of my old Labrador, Max. He wasn't quite as savvy with the safe, but he definitely had a sixth sense for new gadgets. Every time a package arrived, he'd be glued to my side, tail wagging like a metronome, until I opened it.

I suppose with Kodi, it became a bit of a game, right? She'd snitch on your new toys and then get a little smug about it. Maybe next time you bring something home, try distracting her with a good game of fetch or a tasty treat before you unveil the new treasure. Just a thought!
