I bought a new CT9 almost a month ago and just now getting to the range. Planned on getting the 200 rounds in for the break in but 60 rounds in and my front sights flew off when firing and could not find them. The gun is under warranty so should I contact Kahr and arrange for them to fix it? Seems this is a common issue with Kahr pistols as I’ve found the same issue all over the internet. Or should I buy aftermarket, void the warranty and install myself? And if so could you offer a good sight to self install on the CT9? Thanks

Stuff happens....I always replace mine with BETTER AFTERMARKET such as XS Big Dots or Trijicon HD sights. Otherwise warranty should cover it.

Thank you I was looking at Trijicon but couldn’t find Kahr under their firearms list. Could you post a link to the ones I’d need? I have no problems upgrading! As far as performance the gun shot very well and no malfunctions. Can’t wait to get back to the range!

You can contact Kahr and they would no doubt send you a new one or take it back and fix it. Shouldn't void the warranty regardless. Or upgrade as jeepster suggested.

Well the good news is they’ve already contacted me and emailed me a shipping label. The slide is all boxed up and ready to go. Bad news is that it says their lead time is 4-5 weeks. Good thing I go pickup a new 1911 next week.
edit: went ahead and had them send me the part for self install. Downside is if it comes off again then it’s not covered but oh well. Falls off again I’m upgrading.

There's a thread here someplace that explains how to properly install that sight. I'll see if I can find it. I would have done the same thing, no sense having to wait for 4-5 weeks. I'm a devout 1911 guy myself, do post pictures when yours arrives. Sort of like cute girls, you've seen one 1911, you want to see them all.

Thank you for the link if you can find it. And yes, Gun porn. Will definitely post pics! Thanks again.

This is an excellent thread by GB Greg, smartest man alive. I think it's post 23 as I recall, funny I can't remember for sure and I just looked less than a minute ago.
It address's aftermarket installation but the principle and method are the same. As I recall you want to focus on the sight sitting properly and flush to the slide before melting the little pegs.

Sights went on fine! Did exactly what the thread said. I ran 150 rounds through her today and they’re still holding strong. Thanks for your help!
