View Full Version : Cartridge rim hitting breach block on P45

I have noticed that when I insert a magazine into my P45, the rim of the cartridge hits the underside of the slide at the base of the breech face. If I slide the round forward in the mag a little, it slides right in.

Now I know during recoil, with the mag spring pushing the new round up, that it won't matter. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it normal, or should I contact Kahr?

Sounds like your stripper isn't beveled. Do a search on the word gap I believe. It went around big time for awhile. The notch for the guide rod and the bevel.
It's pretty simple to just angle that spot that hitting the case rim so the round slides up in front of it. I'll see if I can find it, Wynn had some great pictures and quite an in depth thread.
I'll be back.

There's pics on page 10. This ones been down awhile. It was entertaining and I'm almost afraid to bring it up again as it will probably stir up ryoung again.

Here notch, come here boy. Notch, Notch ,where are ya?

Here's my combination post about the gap/bevel and the notch. Disregard the humor, and there's info on the bevel, or lack of one... easy to fix. See pix, too. I believe you're lacking the bevel on the lower breechface that strips the cartridges from the magazine:

You can bevel that with a file or stone and then polish or use superfine sandpaper on the bevel.
