https://youtu.be/DdHwOrsoEfw?si=o_F_F5Ct74REYOP5 An old fishing buddy of mine used to live on the border of Minnie and Paul. The first time I went up to his place, he had to make a quick run to the store, so I walked across the street to a small park. When he got back he asked where I had been and I told him, the park. He said, oh no, you didn't go across the street to the park. He said nobody goes to that park. Too dangerous and bad for your health. That was in the early 90's................

I think (therefore I vote republican) but the fun part of this year's sh*t-show has been watching how quickly and viciously the dems turn on ANYONE of their own party who speaks or steps out of line. As a Dem, one better Tow that line or you'll be strung up with it...
Lie, pander and cheat any Law or any rule to win power. It's a real-life Game of thrones and we are supposed to be the compliant peasants. Do they not realize we have pitchforks??
How mindless and groveling does one need to be just to be a part of the "cool kids" clan?

Little Johnny again
Little Johnny asked his dad for a new bike one day. Johnny’s Dad replied I’d like to get you a new bike but we got a 280,000 dollar mortgage on the house and your mom just lost her job and we can’t afford it. Well Little Johnny went to bed sad that night.
He got up to go to the bathroom that night and walking past his parents bedroom he heard his Dad tell his Mom “ I’m pulling out and then he heard his Mom say “no wait I’m coming too.”
The next morning Little Johnny’s Dad caught him going down the sidewalk pulling his wagon full of clothes. His Dad said where do you think you’re going young man to which Little Johnny replied I’m outta here I heard you and Mom talking about pulling out and her saying to hold on because she was coming too. So I figured I’ll leave before you stick me with a 280000 dollar mortgage and no bike !

I had the TRS-80 16K and then the Model III with 32K RAM. I also got custom 360K double sided floppies, but the interface gave me problems. A "green screen" helped with the slow refresh rate a little bit on the early B/W monitors. I have 2ms refresh monitors now. No GUI back then... TRSDOS and BASIC programming.
Fluorescent lights drove me nuts in my office after getting off a crew before retirement from the USAF.
I used to carry the TRS-80 setups, HAM radios, and other toys on USAF alert tours... even had a full HF setup with antenna cable out the door from the underground alert facility in the 70's and 80's. B-52's at Dyess AFB, Abilene, TX.

Side note: Jon Shirley, the guy who led the expansion of Radio Shack & the Tandy Corporation, then later the CEO of Microsoft, was a classmate of my oldest brother at the Antilles Consolidated School when we were stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico during the early 1950s.

Timely cell phone info. My three year old flip phone battery ... or maybe the flip phone itself, died today. Guess I'll have to make the trip into the nearby settlement and see if I can find a replacement. We got rid of our home land line several years ago, and I got rid of my business lane last year after having to retire. So, cell phones it is. The last time I was at the "phone shop", the guy laughed at me but he did say my flip phone would still be around for a few short years. I only answer calls or make calls .... some times 6 or 8 times a week now days. I really only need it for the chance I have one of them "I fell down and can't get up" moments. Don't need to be tracked.

I also use a flip phone only for the same reasons. The less I have to talk on the phone, the better, especially since half the calls are from people who aren't originally from this country. If your phone is like mine, the phone will go totally black when the battery dies or is not recharged. Then it needs to be turned on/rebooted again. I try to stay up on the charging. Looked at it yesterday, still had 30% charge, this morning, dead. Recharging now............If your phone didn't take a dump, you should be able to replace the battery easy enough.

I guess there's a plus to not being able to hear. If it rings, I know it's somebody that don't know me. The texting is a bonus, and like others mine is mostly for when I get stuck, or broke down. Been lucky, the old van hasn't never quit me. I did need a hand a few times in the snow, but don't need to drive in the snow no more so another nonissue. Downside is one of my best bud's doesn't text. Honestly, I think it's because he can't spell, he's even worse than me on phones, his is antique. Love to talk to the guy but I can't hear. We speak thru my wife once in a while and of course meet at the lake every year. Sadly, he was just diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer, and they think it may have traveled to his brain. Not good at all. Damn doctors who have been working with him for a year called it COPD. Admitted a few days ago that they dropped the ball. Sucks big time. Might have to go doctor hunting.
The phone store usually laughs at me too, usually tell me my phone is a dinosaur, and they can't transfer stuff over to a new phone. Course I don't do a new phone very often neither.

shoplifting was a rite of passage for the kids I hung out with, who applied tremendous peer pressure. I was too strait-laced; couldn't & wouldn't do it.
shopkeepers back then had intense eagle eyes upon us all the time we were in the town drug store. Reminded me of my Mom's eyes watching us wiggle in the pews from her seat in the choir. I doubt she heard a word the minister said whenever we were in there. Oh, man, the time she discovered that we'd been keeping the quarters that she'd given us for the collection plate . . . we sibs still talk about that day . . .

When I was about 12... 1958 in Pasadena, Texas, my brother and some of our friends and his came out of a "Walmart" back then and he showed me a cap firing BB pistol that he had stolen for one of his "friends". It was stuck in his pants. I made him take it back inside and put it back. That pissed me off with him taking the risk for some other A-hole. If it had been for me, I would have kept it, or congratulated him on his new toy. :D It's not like we didn't purloin a few things back then. We were poor.
That pistol was probably worth about $3, if that. I bought one before or after that. It looked like a German Luger with a spring-loaded pull-cocker on the back and a slot to place one of those big square caps to propel the BB. I don't know what velocity was achieved, though, but not super powerful. It went bang and shot the BB, though.

Me and 3 other friends went to a Ben Franklin, intent on shoplifting something. We spotted the road flares, and it was on. Me and another friend each took one and put it in our pants. We all left the store in glee thinking how easy it was. Karma caught up right away when I was pulling a flare out of my pants and the metal spike end went through my pinkie finger. Bleeding all over the place. I finally got it stopped after a few miles walk, which wasn't easy with your heart pumping. Got back to my friend's house and his mother came outside. She already knew that we had been up to no good. I kept my screwed-up finger behind me but I'm sure that we all had that "look" on our faces. She asked her son where we had been. He told her. She asked what we did there. He proceeded to tell her the whole story. The rest of us looked at each other in disbelief and couldn't believe he was giving up the goods so easily. I don't know if he ever got the shoplifting lecture before that incident, but unfortunately/fortunately, he must have gotten the telling the truth lecture. She made us take them back. It's a lot harder smuggling merchandise back in than out.............................Later on, I worked for Pinkerton and TJMAXX trying to stop/investigate company crimes and shoplifters..............

I don't remember which younger sibling it was, but our mother made them return some penny candy or something and let them get the lecture from the store owner. There was probably more punishment later!
It IS harder nowadays with all of the security cameras... not that I'm inclined to steal anything. I've returned hundreds of dollars that I received in change in error.
Once I finally checked the deposit envelope for the receipt and found that the cash amount($50-$75 or so, in 1971) was inside the envelope along with the deposit slip! I immediately went to the bank and explained that I just discovered the error. I didn't want the teller to be penalized!

My shoulder has been hurting pretty bad lately so I went to the doctor thinking it was arthritis so he looked it over, took an X-ray and came back in the room saying I have good news and bad news, the good news is it’s not arthritis, the bad news is it’s early onset rigor mortis…….
Well, THERE'S my problem!

Noting that the plate is on an older-beater-Buick and not on a new Mercedes Benz really says it all...
I give it a like.
But it do need a Trump/Vance sticker on it.
Peace

I pass a large intersection on the way to work, Last Friday there were a bunch of Trump signs as well as Harris/Walz signs…..By Sunday all the Trump signs were stomped flat and destroyed……This morning I noticed all the Harris signs were stomped flat, looked like a war zone……This thing is getting real ugly……The best thing about a Trump victory will be watching all the heads explode!

That license plate was over a year or 2 ago before he was even running for VP. I saw it ahead of me and had to snap the picture.

Looks like something I would have done. I would have been sent to counseling today with some of the war pictures I drew in elementary school.
