Been very happy with my P9-2 purchase: no hiccups at all. Ran 200 rounds FMJ & 50 misc JHP, all good. Carries like its not there: thin and light weight. For the Summer when when a not-so-loose t-shirt is worn, that mag base could be a little less conspicuous, but its really not bad. Was wondering if a PM/CM 6 round mag with the metal base would fit flush on the P9? Probably not, but thought I'd throw that out there. I could just add a metal mag base and base lock to the SKU: 820 7rd mag. (CW9, K9, P9, S9, E9) and it would be close to flush. Was also thinking about my 1911 bobtail and doing the same treatment to the P9. Do a partial fill of the cavity and reshape the heal. Thoughts?

It's never crossed the very small field of my mind but danged if I don't think that would work. I've done it to Glocks. With a little care it should work just fine. I'm headed to my room in a bit and I'll ponder this more. Only tupperware I have is the PM45, guess there's a reason I should seek out a P something for educational purposes.
Dear Santa, I've been a relatively speaking good boy this year. How's about filling my bank account some so I can get what I want? Thank you.

PM/CM9 6-round magazine's mag-release slot is offset the same distance from the magazine's top as the 7-round magazines'; won't lock into a P9 well, because the magazine is too short.
On the other hand, because of this design, the PM/CM9 can use the P9's larger capacity mags :-)

Can't think of any reason why you couldn't shorten the P9 grip. But can't think of any reason I'd want to.

……
Steel baseplate works ok with my S9 mags.

Nope, don't want to shorten the grip for sure. I liken it to my bobbed 1911 with G10 thin grips and the metal magazine pad (vs Ed Brown pads); it prints less than a stock Gvt 1911. Granted, not a huge difference, but enough to to make it a little more concealable.

Ya, I didnt think PM's would work. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the confirmation. My goal was for a flush fit, but just adding the metal base is good enough. I guess I'm trying to squeeze water from a stone.

I'm afraid Santa is not going to cooperate...he nitpicks with things like "relatively speaking". Sounds like you're channeling your Mae West: "When I'm good, I'm very good. When I'm bad I'm better."
Ya, I'm showing my FOG age!

Yeah, kind of figured that relatively speaking my tap his brakes some. Thought it was worth a try.

I guess I'm confused about what you're trying to do. You want to use the PM mag in the P9 by just bobbing the back of the grip? Nope, that won't work But you could shorten the whole bottom of the grip. And then if you need a place to hang your pinky, just get the mag baseplate with the pinky extension. Would pretty much have the same feel in the hand as a PM9 with a longer barrel.

I carry my bobtail 1911 with the metal pad but carry extra mags with the rubber pad. Makes it a bit more positive to get the mag home if you're in a hurry.
