We were still living in the "big city" when covid hit. We always tried to be careful to stay away from large crowds. We had friends who got ill and always considered ourselves to be lucky that we never got sick. In fact, we were saying that neither one of us could even remember the last time we even had the sniffles. We still only shop once a month and pretty much stay to ourselves with not a lot of visiting. Well, our luck ran out. The wife started feeling ill on the 16th. Me, a few days later. We've both been sick ever since. The wife was vaccinated with a booster, me, not so much. We had a test lying around and the wife took it, and it came back negative. We agree that neither one of us has ever been so ill in our lives. Headache, eye ache, chills, every bone in our body aches. Congested, dizzy, back ache, loss of taste, smell. For about 5 days, it felt like someone took a meat tenderizer and beat our upper legs to mush. Not much sleep at night. Both of us still sick and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon. The only thing we haven't had is a fever. We've both lost about 10 lbs. from not eating much. When the wife's friend got it in 2023, she had it for about 2 weeks. Her brother's wife got put in the hospital because of it in 2023. We don't know whether it's covid or a really bad flu, but we sure hope we're on the upswing soon. Wouldn't wish this $hit on my worst enemy. We're both hoping that we don't have any long-lasting effects. The symptoms sure describe/match the descriptions of covid. If you're old like us, you don't want whatever this is. Good time of year to stay away from people in general.............

Hope it passes and goes well for you 2. Sure sucks getting sick. I may of had covid a couple of years ago, felt crappy for about 2 weeks and then no more problem.

Sorry to hear that Bone, I had Covid twice even after the third booster but I was lucky, it was like a bad cold for 3-4 days…..My wife came down with Covid back in the spring and was really sick, we have Kaiser insurance and they didn’t cover Paxlovid so we had to pay $750.00 for a round of that but it really helped her……What is going around now is the RSV thing which is serious for older folks like most of us……Sure hope ya’ll get to feeling better soon, will keep you in the prayers!

I had something over 20 years years ago that pretty much wiped me out, but still went to work. The doc took a blood test, waited about a week and it came back for west nile virus. He followed that up with saying I had been exposed to it but did not have it. Took another blood sample, waited for another week and found out I had mono. My wife was fine, as was my 3 year old grandson who was staying with us at the time. No idea how I got, though. Made me weak, fatigued, and no appetite at all. I only ate because I knew I had to. Ended up lasting 6 weeks and I lost over 20 lbs. Still no clue how I got.

I figured out the best way to beat an enemy force was to give them mono some how. No way could they put up a fight with that stuff. Luckily for me, I was in a position where I could stay in my office rather than be out and about, and I was on shore duty. I was pretty much useless the entire time, though.

I had mono when I was 10, sickest I can ever remember being, I missed 3 months of school and they thought I had leukemia but eventually I got better…..I later found out there is a connection between mono and multiple sclerosis, seems everyone who gets MS had mono previously in their life………Weird

Get well soon buddy. Being sick sucks. I've been healthy except for my guts since I retired in 2019. Before that every year when school started, we all got sick. I got some sort of virus almost every year for 4 or 5 years, finally went to the doc the first year, family had colds/flu. Doc told me I had a bacterial infection, not a virus and wouldn't get better without antibiotics. After that whenever I got to feeling poorly, I'd just contact him and he prescribe the antibiotic and I'd be well in a few days.

I had Covid back in 21, lasted about 5 days. Perhaps you have RSV?

Lot's of stories on the very nasty ride you have taken. My brain asks if we have weakened our immune system with too many vaccinations.

Hope you get through it quickly now bb. And your wife also. No fun at all being sick. And somehow it's worse when you've taken all the precautions you can. Don't know if you plan on going to the doctor, but it might be a good idea in this case.

Hope y’all are feeling better today.
We’ve been lucky so far - no Covid or flu. Vaxxed & boosted and avoid crowds. Had the RSV shot in late ‘23.
