Hello everyone. I am an old shooter that has just joined the forum, and the proud owner of a new Khar PM 9, with the black slide and night sights. I just bought the pistol yesterday, and am looking forward to shooting it. I wanted to ask you more experienced Khar PM 9 shooters, your tips on how to start out, and any pointers you may have possibly not covered thoroughly in the owners manual. Any advice, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome, ya got a good gun there.
Hit the tech section and read Jocko's Proper Prep of your new Kahr. In the same section theres a pretty cool lube diagram that can be really helpful.
One of the tips in Jockos thread is read the owners manual. I recommend reading it 2 or 3 times.
I'm sure you'll have zero issues and she'll run fine right out of the box but the application of the ideas in the above threads will certainly grease the skids and help increase the odds of that happening for sure.
Theres a whole bunch of really smart experienced guys here, and then me with questionable reputation here to help you along the way.
Let us know how you get along after you shoot it.

Oldjarhead, I started to warn you in my earlier post about ryoung, I decided not to since sometimes singling him out kind of sets him off. He's really quite harmless, just a few, well actually several degrees out of plumb. Only one oar in the water if you get the flow of my river. I'm afraid he is correct though about the fee as bad as we feel about requesting it, it's just the right thing to do.
I note that several of the senior members unlike myself seem to be rolling in dough and well off in all respects. So feel free to send their share to me as I can really use some disposable income right now.
Being the kind person that I am I will no doubt send some to Jocko to apply to a new Harley to ease in his recuperation. And maybe some to Wynn so he can buy some more magazine parts to occupy his day and keep him out of the malls oggling young women in skimpy attire.
Please note that we take our forum very seriously, never get off topic, hijack threads or say unkind things about each other unless they sorely deserve it which now that I ponder it is about 98.4% of the time.

ok bye.

Oldjarhead,

Welcome to the forum from Texas. You chose a great pistol for your first Kahr. Sorry you had to find out about the spelling ****'s so soon but the good news is that you only have to pay the senior memebers. Had you joined 30 days from now, you would have been on the hook for 10.00 to the regular members also. A small silver lining but still a silver lining. :D Again, welcome to Kahrtalk. Best regards, Dusty

Gosh, I forgot about that. The new bi laws and all. Thanks for reminding us of the rule change.

Sorry about the spelling of KAHR. I guess my German is not as good as I thought. As far as the spelling errors, would you like payment in gold, or maybe Lead.(hee hee):D:p

Can't really comment for the geezers but, for us regular members, gold works just fine. ;)

I'm sure glad ya came back with a rebuttal there oldjarhead. For a bit I thought that darn ryoung scared ya off.
That lead can be toxic stuff if you soak up to much of it so I believe I'd prefer the gold myself as well even though it is kind of girlyman.
Thankyou for asking.

So whats the answer to Jocko's question. You a seebee?

Well as one fellow gun slut to another you came to the right place. I think there a quite a few like minded fellows around here, both Marines and gun sluts.
A Marine and a retired lawman, you've seen the elephant. I salute you and thank you for your service.

Welcome to the asylum, us jarheads still stick together. If you need anything around here let me know. These guys are pretty harmless, so no real need to get the dander up too often. Just jump in and they'll be fine, hell they still tolerate me.

My first trip to the local range with the PM9193 was today.
I ran about 175 rounds through the pistol, with only minor problems.
First problem: Shooting at 15 years (County range, that was the shortest range) it took me about 20 rounds to put a hole in the paper. Wondering if it was all my fault I had one of the range masters try. He hit 2 in 4 times, none in the black on a really big target (NRA B-17 50 mtr Slow fire). After about 30 or 40 rounds I started to see the holes in the paper. I had fired a rental PM9 and PM40 at another range so I knew what to expect? Not sure if it was me or the pistol, but it all worked out after a while.
I shot maybe 100 rounds Winchester FMJ, and +- 20 rounds of Remington JHP. then I tried some Federal soft point hollow point (about 35 years old, from when I was shooting my Browning HP) everything went ok except for the soft point ammo. It doesn't like to feed 100% in the Kahr. I don't blame it on the Kahr, as it was also a problem in the Browning till a gunsmith worked the feed ramp. I am not going to worry about the soft point feed problem, as I don't think you can buy that ammo any longer.
After about 175 rounds, I was happy with the pistol, I had punched a lot of holes in the paper the pistol was doing what I wanted. I will be going to a pvt range later this week to do some more shooting at a shorter range, and expect better results. I don't think I'll be shooting at anything much further than 20 / 30 ft, so being able to hit the target at 45 ft with a 3" pistol is good enough for me.
Great pistol, would love to see Kahr come out with a PM40 with a safety like the PM9193.

I seem to be most accurate with the Magtech 124 grain ammo in my PM9. Zero feed/eject problems with it too.
