I finally got my Kahr PM9 out to the range. I shot two hundred FMJ rounds. One hundred of which were very hot military loads. I followed the instructions of the owners manual and locked the slide back, prior to loading each time.

The recoil with the hot loads was pronounced, and the rough checkering on the grip was biting into my hand. I also noticed a little pinching on my pinkie. The trigger was not super smooth at first. I had a pearce grip extension on the smaller magazine.

The more I shot it, the better the gun got. Adjusting my grip a little stopped the bite and pinch. The trigger and gun just seemed to be silky smooth on the last fifty rounds.

When I took my time, using a good two hand grip at 21 feet, I was hitting within a inch of the bull's eye. I am 54 years of age and wear glasses with bifocals, so I was impressed. No FTF or FTRB, except when I tried to fire one handed with my weak hand. I had one hang up on the feed ramp. I may of limp wristed it.

Final thoughts: Great first range session. I feel that the more I shoot my pm9, the more comfortable, and confident, I will be. I have been extremely impressed with the gun. On my next range session, I plan to shoot my carry loads, to make sure they work ok, before I actually start to carry it. I plan to carry Speer 124g gold dots for short barrels. This will definitely by a carry gun. Didn't feel heavy when loaded. I am glad I bought it.

Although my grip adjustment, overcame the biting an pinching problem, I am considering wrap around hogue grip. I have heard it will stay in place with some skateboard tape underneath it. Anyone else have some ideas on grips? Thanks.

A bicycle innertube takes the bite right away. Keeps the slim profile and still provides a very nice grip. The Hogues do basically the same thing, not sure if they fit tight enough on the PM9 but seems like several here have them so probably so.
Theres Get a Grip too which I still haven't tried. It's like for tennis rackets and reportedly works quite well too.
Glad your getting along with that new gun. Sounds like it's really working well.

I too like my PM9, I am also 54 with bifocals, maybe Kahr should name the PM9 after us the BIFO 54. lol

The PM9 is a great shooter and easy to carry.

I have the Hogue Jr. slip on grips on my PM9. It has a finger groove that I've grown to like. Occasionally it slips down a tad but I just push it up again and it never caused a problem. The big thing is this gun demands a tight grip, preferably with two hands. Without my grips it was like peeling off scabs to shoot which isn't conducive to a tight grip. With the grip it feels natural to strangle the sucker.

Strangle the sucker? Such talk from OldLincoln. I never knew. It does have a nice ring to it though. I'm gonna write that down and use it next time I'm trying to help someone at the range. Yeah dude, point of aim and strangle the sucker! Heck yeah, I like it.

Glad to hear you are liking your PM9. I am really liking mine as well. Great concealable gun. Mine has around 1000 rounds through it and has not hiccuped once (probably just jinxed myself!). I guess I am fortunate, I do not have an issue with the grip biting in my hand. I have a big hand with long fingers. I also wear bifocals, I guess I could also be part of the Bifo club.

Glad to see you're promoting my discovery of the Get-A-Grip. Or you could just do what I do at the range - wear a shooting glove.

I hate it when someone takes credit for someone elses discoveries, I can just never remember who invented everything.
I have yet to try it myself but I fully intend to. I try to stay out of stores and even out of town if at all possible, it just makes me want stuff.
Perhaps now that we've been here 3 or 5 times I'll remember you as the discoverer and give you first hand credit where first hand credit is due.
Surely didn't intend no copywrite infringement, thats for certain.

While the "strangle that sucker" line is great to describe grip pressure, that "pealing off scabs" metaphor will soon become a Kahrtalk classic. OldLincoln has the muse working for him today. :D

Well, I am 61 and wear progressive TRI-focals and can shoot the crap out of the target with my PM9. It is a great gun and my son can't shoot it for anything. I guess I should be happy for small things. I put a bike inner tube on it, because I am cheap and it holds real nice. It is my EDC 99% of the time here in sunny S. FL. The other times, I carry a Smith and Wesson 637 or my Beretta 21a with Stingers-what a flame that gun produces.

handlebar, how do you carry the pm9?
