So as not to hijack another thread, I would like some info on the new offering from Kahr for the fiber optic front sight replacements.

1. How much larger is this sight than the factory sight? From the picture on the Kahr web site, they look considerably larger (as would be expected to contain a f.o. rod), and also look like extremely sharp edged, rather than tapered.

2. Will the DIY process securely fix the new sight to the slide?

I really love my recently acquired CW9, and would like to have full fledged night sights, but also recognize as a SD weapon that point shooting really does not require highly visible sights. I feel an MK9 (or 40) in my near future anyway, which will whet my desire for night sights on a Kahr, so the CW9 may end up being commandeered by mrs. surveyor. She has better eyes than I do, doesn't carry (on her person) in a holster, so the f.o. front sight would be a great addition.

Mr Surveyor ... ditto ditto ...!
I know there are many different senarios we could get into.... but, I keep going back to, and ... imagining... a close up situation, where I might not get the opportunity to raise my arm and use a sight or sight radius .... I'm thinking, I'll have just enough time, to clear and get the barrel pointed in tha' right spot, CENTER OF MASS (( or, alittle lower ! ))
I feel comfortable with my CW40 and it's SD sights, as is !

For quick target acqiusition, try the Crimson Trace laser on your Kahr.

the front sight is always your friend, You should see that clearly over the rear sight and the target even. You cannot perfectly focus on all 3 anyhow and in a defense situation, you wn'thave time either. Practice focusing on that front sight and the rest of the target will fallinto place. Gotta remember kahrs are certainly a defense close up weapon, not meant to shoot 1" groups at 25 yards. One can damn good and very fast with POA( Point of aim ) shooting...

Can the sights on the CW model be changes to night sights? The front sight is pinned which limits what it can be replaced with. I guess the rear sight is a dovetail cut and can be replaced. I would like to change the my CW rear sight to a 2 dot rear to have a 3 dot system but didn't think such a rear sight was available from Kahr or aftermarket.

kahrs web site, they show alot more sights for thier guns than a year ago. I think you can find a rear night sight but as of yet not sure one can find a front night sight. Some have asked if the glock front sight will fit. I would think it would bBUT the glock sights are one holers, where as the cw kahrs front sight is a two pin sight and I have seen photos of where someone has installed the glock night front sight on the cw kahrs but oneof the two holes in the slide is still visible. IMO tacky at best, but probably works OK.

some have snet their slides off to get the front sight dovetails by a good gun smith machinist to accept most front dovetail night sights. costly but works perfect.

I can't believe that kahr has not come up with a two pin front night sight for the cw kahrs when they are now introudcing a fiber optic front sight for the cw kahrs.

If you check out Cylinder and Slide's website, you will see they offer numerous packages for upgrading Kahrs, including putting the XS Big Dot sighting system on. I will seriously consider this for my CW9 in the future, as I believe the XS system is great for a carry personal defense gun.

Many months later and.......

Has Kahr ever came out with replacement front sights for the CW line or do we neew do modify the front sight to get them to fit? Grind away a bit of the underneath of the slide to countersink the screw?

Kahr has replacement fiber optic front sights on their website for the CW series:

They also have night sight sets for the CW's:

I missed that. Trying to login and see what dealer price is on those. I wish I could just buy the front sight as I have no use for the rear.

After an order screw up, Kahr sold me just a front Trijicon sight for my CW9. You might want to give them a shout and ask if they will sell you one.

I would go with Dawson, their sights are really nice and trhey provide the tool to install also. a real no brainer. My buddy bought the fiber optinc front sight from dawson and likes it better than any sight he has put on his kahrs.

Does it work at night? lol I will call kahr and see if I can buy just the front replacement sight. Any minor gunsmithing needed when replacing them?

not their fiber optic but again I think we put to juch emphasis on NIGHT SIGHTS I can guaraantee u, u will see fiber op;tics much easier and faster during any daylight hou7rs than a night sight during daylingh hours. I love um on my G19 and I am presnetly cohntemplating doing it t my K9 now to, after seeing the dawson front and back fiber optic that was poste don this fourm on a fella cm9. $50 for both is a helh of a deal, and installation by dawson is IMO a smart thing to do. nice thing is one can just send the slide to them for about $5.

See Greg's post about installing his front N.S. from kahr....
http://kahrtalk.com/showthread.php?t=5436

The Dawson N.S. dual flared posts mount is a better design IMO,and should be an easy install. It also has a wider flat base that should add to its strength, and looks good too. They also send the flaring tool along to do the job.
I will be adding N.S. to my Kahrs eventually, and think I am just going to do the front sights with Dawsons.

another reason why I recommend Dawson, a no brainer to install and they make their own sights. I am told the rear sight needs some fititng required and unless you have a good sight pusher most kahrs rear sightrs are just a real beech to get off let alone to move. I suggest letting specialist do the work, if in doubt.
