After a long agonizing trip back to Fl I picked up a CW9.
I had concerns about recoil after my experiences with a Keltec PF9.
All I can say is WOW! I never expected such a small gun to be such a pleasure to shoot.
After going through the recomended prep I headed to the range.
300 rnds later the only hitch was a FTF. I lost my head and tried to slingshot the slide and rode it enough to cause the failure.
The last 2 mags were a mix of:
Fed 115 FMJ
Fed 147 hydro-shok
Hornady 115 Critical Defense
All went without a hitch.
I will probably start with some accuracy shooting but those last 14 rnds stayed center mass at 7yds semi-rapid fire on a B21SNC.
Great gun:D:D:D

So if your out on the big water and don't see no other boats, is that considered a shooting range? Maybe some inflatable targets? Perhaps a little trap shooting off the back? Glad your CW's working good for you.

next you'll need a soft shooting .45 and the CW45 fits that bill !!! I shoot mine better than my CW9 or PM9.

Dollar for dollar, the CW9 is no doubt the best carry value on the market today. Right size, right weight, easy concealability, what else could you ask?

Yep, But it's only good for feeling like you're shooting. Cause let me tell you with your platform moving and your target moving the only way you hit anything is pure dumb luck. I keep a .22 plinker for that. I don't feel quite so bad wasting ammo.
I would like to get a chance to shoot a .45 but after now putting 500 rounds through it, the CW 9 in particular and Kahr in general is even more impressive.

Dumb luck plays a big part in my shooting on dry land. They should of had a shooting range on that cruise boat, it didn't move much.

North FL... JAX? USPS? Was a member from '98 up until '03 when I finally sold my my walk-around 21-footer... one of the bad OMC Johnson 175HP O/B... after it blew up the second time and I had to pay... OMC folded over those 150/175 Ficht engines... I had had enough and sold it... boatless since.:(
That was my first boat of any kind and wanted to learn something before leaping out onto all of the waterways and being a menace to myself and others, so I joined the USPS and advanced through Advanced Piloting. I figured that was enough... was Radar Navigator in USAF, so figured I didn't need to be shooting any more stars or planets. :)
I once took a header off the stern while checking my depthfinder transducer... would pop out of detent in rough water. I had my Walther stainless .22 TPH on and showed that my preference for stainless was well-founded... especially here in Florida... salt and brackish water.
Never did name my boat... just didn't seem fitting for a 21-footer.

That was your error Wynn. Boats gotta have a name. You were cursed, that's why your motor blew up.
I got a little 16ft aluminum fishing boat. The Queen Mary to me pals.
I laughed so hard, was up at the local Marina, my son actually works up there now, but I saw a boat among the multitudes and accross the second story bridge, (flying bridge)? was "Just another damn boat".
Always figured they was a hole in the water to throw money in but lots of folks live for their boats.
Me, I'm saving up for a German machine gun just like Embalmer. Sweet.

That will be cheaper than my boat was. I spent about $4k before I put it in the water the first time... mapping GPS(half the $4k, on sale back then), radio, antennas, anchor, a lot of line (I used half-inch), fenders, potty, signaling stuff, life vests, floor covering, trailer enhancements, and just a whole bunch of must-haves... a real hole in the water for money, especially with a poorly designed and tested engine... last engine repair ~ $5,600! Thank goodness I had tow insurance ~$100 a year... used it twice at almost $500 a pop (it was about $225 an hour! Back then!). the clock starts when the tow boat leaves the dock and doesn't end until HE gets back. Most people wouldn't buy tow insurance. I learned a bit about marine law... salvage and so forth... and not letting just any yahoo give you a tow, if you happen to be in a place where there are other boaters. If you tow someone and hurt their boat... you're liable for damages... and you don't want to be "salvaged", having to buy back your boat!
I should have named mine "Rambling Wynn". :D

Wynn, N Fl ? I'm currently in a little town called Green Cove Springs on the St Johns Riverbe here a couple of months and then find warmer weather.

Yes... I once went all of the way to Palatka... just to go somewhere. I know where Green Cove Springs is. That area used to hold a moth-balled Navy fleet... around WWII or since. I can see the river and Mill Cove as I sit here about 150 yards south of the river. Dames Point Bridge is centered in my window about 1.7 miles NE.
I've been as far north as Jeckyll Island up in Georgia and south down to St. Augustine many times... via the Intracoastal. I have come back on the ocean a few times from St Mary's, when the water was relatively smooth... saw a few subs, too. They used to be very possessive of that waterway to the ocean, I hate to think how bad security has gotten since 9/11. I think those RIB's they use... like LE boats... must point guns at you now.
I have a video of us passing the USS Cole on the river with them on the VHF radio in the background. my wife was at the helm and going crazy with the wakes. This was before it was attacked and I thought it was the Cruiser Shiloh #67, until the Cole incident and something clicked in my mind, so I went and played the video... sure enough it was the Cole... Destroyer #67, which they said over the radio while talking to a ship they were overtaking... Navy Destroyer 67... exciting with the wake and close passage in the jetty just before the NS Mayport entrance. I ought to post that on YouTube. A year or so after the attack in 2000, while we were on the Intra-Coastal, we heard them on radio as they were returning to Norfolk or wherever their home port was, after repairs in Pascagoula, MS.
See? Rambling Wynn....

October activity for USS Cole... we passed her on the 14th, while she was inbound to Mayport:

Okay... added material to last post on USS Cole. After checking my calendar from October 1998, we went boating on the 14th as the Cole was returning to Mayport again.

Obsessing as usual.

Nice to see some boaters on here. I grew up in Annapolis and I still work there. I have lived in the mountains of PA (Luarel Highlands) for the last 9 years, so I get the best of both worlds. I sure do miss running the bowrider from the South river up the bay and into the Severn to get to historic downtown Annapolis.

Southx, I lived aboard and cruised around Florida and Bahamas for 6 years back in late 80's to early 90's. Interesting lifestyle. I had a 28' cutter I built myself from scratch in my backyard. Laundramats and public showers is what finally did me in. I'm back mowing grass again, probably will be doing that from now on. I miss that boat though. Congrats on your new CW9. Dusty
