Hi folks,

I am new here. After a lot of fence sitting I finally took the plunge and bought a PM9 Black Diamond. As this is my first Kahr, I had a question about the ejector on my gun.

It appears that the polymer frame is bent back behind the ejector. Looks like maybe a burr of plastic or something is pushing the frame back in this area where it mates with the back of the ejector. There is a gap between the back of the ejector and the frame (as seen in the pics). Wondering if this is typical? Pics included for reference.

Unfortunately I have the peening barrel issue that I need to contact Kahr about, but want to address all issues with the gun at one time. Not sure if this is an defect or not.

I have exactly 150 rounds through the gun. Serial number would indicate it was made from June 2010 or later (IC3xxx).

Any help appreciated. Including how best to contact Kahr for warranty work.

EDIT TO ADD: better pics.

The barrel is peening at the top back corner of the barrel hood on the extractor side. Small burr curling up.

The extractor is loose and can be moved around with light finger pressure.

Did you mean contact Ian?

Do you mean the ejector is loose? On my MK9, the ejector has a slight amount of play in it, and functions normally.

the EJECTOR can be loose. I can have some play, that is normal. Of that burr is where I pm-ed you about, do what I advised. Photos would help to.

His name is ION, IAN has since left kahr and the new guy is ION.

Yes, meant to write "ejector" NOT extractor.

Actually, his name is Eoin. :) I have an e-mail reply from him.

"Some" wear and tear is normal and reasonable. My barrel hood is scratched a little on the top ends (shiny spots). My slide has some very small chips (maybe 1/16" in length) on the inside near the hood hole (I guess where the barrel hood hit it) . The chips are not deep. The area where the metal has chipped off did so within the first 100 to 200 rounds. It got to a point and stopped. It is not ANY worse at 2,645 rounds now. The gun works fine, the peening is very, very minor, and you can't see it from the outside.

I don't remember mine having a separation like yours but I will have to check.

I was good with photo taking, but I am not but I can assure you, my PM9 is exactly like yours is. I have that "gap" behind the ejector. That is there by design. I have side play in my ejector, that is also OK, It will cause no harm. My ejector has over 30,000 rounds through it and it looks totally new. Even the tip end of the ejector showws zero wear.

I have no doubt if you send kahr the photos, you are going to get the same answer..

From your PM to me, that peening is a burr on the outter part of the ejection port, that little pointed end. the brass casings upon ejection is causing that and it will in some guns produce alittle burr,as that little pointed end cannot be heat treated hard enough to prevent this. Many have incurred this also on their P380 and just alittle filing off of that burr and smoothing with fine paper and it will quite doing it. Mine did it at the git go and now 30,000+ rounds later it shows no signs of burring....

I guess you could send the gun back to kahr and they willdo what I and others are telling you to do. they will not replace the barrel but merely file that little burr off and smooth if and send the gun back. Not sure they will incur the costs of pickingup the gun or sending it back either. Just my SWAG on that.

I went down to a local fun shop and asked to take a look at the three PM9's they had in the case. We pulled the slides to compare the ejector installation and found that none had the gap between rear frame/ejector/rail as I do on mine.

In comparison to those, mine looked to be a bad fit where the ejector curled up some polymer material during install. I'll update with what Kahr CS comes back with.

Hey Folks,

I wanted to update this thread with my exp through Kahr warranty service.

I sent the pistol back for inspection last week on the frame/ejector issue. They called me back today to let me know they replaced the frame and will be shipping back to my FFL as soon as I fax the paperwork. Stated fix was "Defective frame. Replaced frame."

Fast, friendly customer service with a solid fix. I did have to pay return shipping and FFL fee for the new frame, but that is their stated policy and I did not make a stink about it. IMO they exceeded my expectations in record time.
