I'm meeting up with my buddy at 1300 today for some lunch at Penn Station (killer food, FYI), before he leaves town to return to Afganistan. He's based out of Bagram. He got some firearm training that drastically improved his handiwork with a pistol, and made some serious headway with the use of the carbine as well. Watching those lightbulbs turn on at the range was great to see. The time spent with family and friends was well needed, and we all missed him dearly.

I have a little tradition that I do with my friends who serve overseas, and due to some unforseen situations that presented themselves, I was not able to do my tradition for him at the time, but I am today.

I give every friend who goes overseas a knife, generally with their name and a quote from the Bible that describes them on the blade. The blades are generally at a minimum semi-custom production. Let's just say that I don't trust the issue knives, and it also gives them a reminder that somebody back home does care, and does remember them and the hell they go through.

This is his. His twin brother is also in the Army, and is deploying next year. He will get the same knife as his brother.

Although this is a production knife, it is probably one of the toughest blades that you can find for your dollar - much better than the crud that his brother showed me they were issued to bank their lives on if needed.

Job 19:29 says

Be ye afraid of the sword: For wrath bringeth the punishments of the sword, That ye may know there is a judgment.

That is really a special gift of your time and talent and probably has more meaning that can ever be verbally given. Good for you, thank you. And thank him for his service. It takes someone special....

Well done sir, much nicer than the I-tune card that I sent to my co-workers brother. He had asked for it, and he even sent me a Buzkashi whip as a thank you. If I ever get my camera back from the wife I will post pictures.

That's great Jeep. The personal message for each is a nice touch. Much better gift that the care packages I sent my nephews when deployed overseas. And, thank you buddy for his service from all of us.

Very nice looking blades, and an exceptional level of friendship! You are a true gentleman of the old school. We need all of that we can get these days.
