Sight paint, fingernail polish or model paint would help that sight or you could replace it with an aftermarket sight. Quick question, is this a brand new PM9?

Yup its a brand new pm9 serial starts with ib86... But i dont think its the new version i was kinda pissed off when i compared the guns slide with the new slide pics ive seen online i just got off the phone with kahr to ask what was the turnaround time to install new night sights they told me 2 weeks i really dont wanna wait that long, my local gunsmith said that he can change the sights for me but i really dont know he will do a good job.

IMO ur better off with the one you got, it is shorter and therefore even a tad lighter.

Let kahr do the job, take your time and get it done right, if ur smitty screws it up, he might not stand behind it. Kahr will not screw it up and kahrs sights are tight as hell to get off. U can just send the slide to kahr also for about $5 regular mail, I doubt if it will take 2 weeks either. u got a super nice kahr, do it right..

Often times the turn around time is a worse case scenario. They say 2 weeks but most likely it would be less. Course even thats too long with a shiney new gun.
Personally while I don't want to get the new versus old slide debate stirred up again, I'm more partial to the old style although the new does have some good things going for it. I'd probably still stick with the old.
Is your gunsmith in a shop or working under a tree in his backyard? If he's in a shop you should be in good shape and he should do it right or make it right. Not to pick on backyard smiths one bit either. Some of the very best started out in the backyard and did darn nice work.
Have you narrowed down your choice of which sights you want?

Hit the submit button same time as JOcko AGAIN. Just do what he said and it'll all be just fine.

heh bawanna, what are the good things going for it on the new style slide. Only thing I can see is the beveled front end, other than that it is longer, it is heavier.

considering glocks have the blunt nose like the "old" style PM9, I never read of complaints from these die hards. I guess my point is why come up with an ultra compact/lightweight gun and then later on ,,,make it bigger and heavier. I kinda thought that was what the cw series was made for or the P9 series. Oh well, it does seem that I am in the minority on this matter to....

The only plus on the new is as you said the tapered nose which I dont really love the looks of but it has to aid in reholstering. Course not many focus on speed reholstering either.
I probably would not have changed a thing and put that effort into CS or QC instead but the folks at Kahr didn't ask me and it's their ball so they can do whatever they want I guess.

Mikey, they are XS Big Dots and I love em. I have them on several guns. I like the standard dots on larger full size guns but on small ones the big dot is the ticket.
Some don't like em, everybody has their own preferences but for me they work really well.

Im tempted to buy the sights right now and get next day shipping and get it installed but the thing that worries me about the gunsmith is that he claims it will only take him 15 min to install and that gets me worried about the quality of the work. Ps im typing on my cell phone dont mibd the missspelled words.

With the right tools thats probably doable. I put the XS's on my PM45 myself in probably 20-30 minutes. Safest is Kahr but tell your guy you want the premium deluxe install and to take a whole hour and do it right.
I'd probably not have him install while you wait. Takes the pressure off him. Drop it off, pick it up later in the day.

they brag like that about installing sights, then I might just want to keep on looking, for no smitty can say that about a gun until he has it in his hands. Some guns the sights damn near fall out. It has been more often than not that most kahr sights are jsut one sob to get off PERIOD. A good sight pusher is necessary IMO if you gonna assure no damage what so ever to your slide.

NOt that a good smitty can't do it, it is basic smitty work to. I just feel for the slight few days more wait, that the company who made the gun might be hetter qualified to do work on their own gun.

Again it is ur gun, u kinda asked for some advice, sift the advice out and go for it. Probalby gonna be OK either way..

Hopefully, the guy will know about dovetails being unidirectional... push from left to right for off and right to left for on... or at least check for the proper side to start.

love those xs big dot sights, but remember , they are almsot useluss beyound 20 yards + - as that big dot will just cover everything up at that distance. Theya re what theya re a defensive 15 yards andunder fast acquisition sight. I think xs in their pamphlet will tell you that also I sure like mine on my PM9 and my P380..

You can get very fast with that sight system, as the front sight is always your friend, so see it clearly and all else will fall into place.

I think u did the right thing by sending the slide in to..
