Here's a photo of my last 40 rounds of 160 rounds for today. These are my reloads shooting at 10 yards. Spread (if you don't count that flyer at the upper left, doh!) is 4 1/2". Now have a total of 460 rounds through the newbie and it is starting to get used to me.

Hope that this worked!:o It did!!!!

The CW9, it just gets better and better.

I have gone through a series of pistols in the last eight years looking for a carry pistol. Started with several Ruger pistols, a P97 and P95. Excellent pistols, reliable and accurate. Too large for me to carry and I never could master the double single trigger. Then two XDs, a Service model and an XD9sc. I like the sub-compact XD9sc for carry. A little thick and some weight more than I like, but it points and shoots wonderful. The last pistol my favorite is a Hi-Power. I think the best 9mm pistol ever. Thin, reliable and wonderful balance. Of all my pistols I shoot this the best. However with a 4 and 5/8 inch barrel and weighing about 40 ounces I have trouble dressing around this great pistol. As much as I like these guns I often found I would carry a P32. A good pistol, but I had decided I wanted to carry a 9mm pistol.

So at last I decided the CW9 price would allow an experiment and bought the Kahr CW9. It is easy to like a slim, reliable, accurate pistol that weights 21 ounces loaded and disappears in an IWB holster. With the right pants or shorts I can also pocket carry in an Uncle Mike's #3. It has been a process to trust my ability with Kahr's double action trigger, but after more than 800 rounds it is my carry pistol. I still shoot the other pistols, but this is the one!

Enjoy your CW9!

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

I'll be shooting the CW9 basically every other week as it is my main CCW. Between times, shoot my SP 101 (alternate CW) and one of three 22's. Then once a month, shoot my CZ Phantom. The Phantom is my best shooter for tight groups as it has a nice long barrel/sight radius. I normally shoot the CZ just to keep in practice with it and to make myself feel good about getting tight groups (usually shoot the center out of the target with no more than 10 rounds, then have to shoot one high or low and aim at the bullet hole.

I also carry the CW9 in my pocket using an Uncle Mikes #4. I've attached a thin piece of leather to it to hide the grip of the CW9. Attachment is at the bottom of the holster with the upper end free. This works pretty good at concealing the shape of the grip so the gun in pocket looks more like an older **********. (I guess you can't use some product names) make that large cell phone.

You seem to be experiencing the same pleasant surprises with the CW9 that I did. I now have just a bit over 800 rounds (all 100% flawless) downrange from my CW9 bought in June of 09, and accuracy as a SD weapon is more than adequate. I've noticed that as I get a bit older (nowhere near Wyn, Bawanna or Jocko's ages though:D) that I tend to simplify life as much as possible, and have finally (after years of searching) picked the CW9 for "casual carry" and the SP101 3" for daily "field carry". Having weeded down my actual dedicated carry guns to only four, the CW9 and SP101 never see the inside of the safe, and the Kimber Compact .45 and Sig P239 in .40S&W rarely see the light of day. The Kahr pistol and Ruger revolver are both simple "point and click" devices, having very similar grip angle and trigger reach, and relatively long (but smooth) DA triggers. I have no intention of giving up the Kimber or Sig as I shoot them considerably better than the Kahr and Ruger. But the latter pair are much simpler platforms, totally reliable, more than adequate in SD accuracy and delivered energy, and fit my carry styles and needs better.

Congrats on a successful outing, and having such good taste in handguns;)

surveyor, u have said exactly what I have been saying for a few years. Kars are super guns but if you think they are as accurate or easy to shoot as a 1911, then one is smoking some serious stuff. They are a IMO specal purpose gun and that is "defense" and concealability. I just don't think you can get better than that, I love my G19 and it out shoots my kahrs 5 to 1 but that G19 is my home and range gun, nothing more. It doesn't leave the house whenI do, MY PM9 does

rkirk - You are welcome.

jshull - The Uncle Mikes #4 with the CW9 will fill up your pocket but it is workable in dress pants with large pockets and cargo type pants (or shorts). Just don't try to carry it in the leg pocket as it may be just a bit too tall. Also, bangs the heck out of your leg when walking. I is OK in the leg pocket when sitting in a car or chair though. Very easy to reach.

mrSurveyor -

Not really simplifiying just getting most of my stuff in line with each other (Wait, that sounds like I am). Got rid of a P3AT but didn't loose too much on the deal. I could shoot it OK when I really concentrated on keeping a tight grip, but it moved around too much for me on a regular basis. Finally had enough and went looking for something in a 9 mm that had nearly the same DA as my SP 101. I had looked at a PF-9 when I bought the P3AT but thought I'd be having the same problems with it as the 3PAT. Looked at the Taurus 709 Slim. Was OK but I got rid of a Taurus Mill Pro PT111 after having it about 6 months. Never could get the gun to group well. I know it wasn't me as other people had tried it and had the same experience. Found the CW9 at my LGS (same LGS that sold my 3PAT- good guy running the place). Handled it. It pointed well, I could get a full hand grip with the 7 round mag, DA was nice and smooth, no heavier than my SP101 (the trigger that is :) ), fit in my pocket and waist band real well, etc....Left the shop, thought about it and went back the next morning. Read the stickies here, asked some questions and broke my unwritten rule of not going to the range on Saturday. JUST HAD TO SHOOT IT. 200+ rounds with no problems and generally good accuracy at the end. HOOKED. So now it rides most of the time in my pocket.

jocko - I took up reloading this June so that I could shoot three times as much for the same outlay of cash. This has paid off in my accuracy with the SP101 and will pay off in accuracy with the Kahr. I actually shoot my SP101 better in DA than I do in SA (now). So they will both complement one another. I will be puting at least 200 rounds a month through the CW9 to build muscle memory. Since I may have to bet my life with this gun, you can be sure that I'll be practing with it. I'm already happy with the gun anyway so that goes a long way. Will it get better groups than my CZ, maybe not(but I'm going to try to get it that way), but it will do the job it's called on.

Long post. Didn't think that I would write this much!

Jim
