I hate you Wynn!!!:32::32: Now where am I going to come up with 6,000 for a Sabatti. While I've always wanted a 375H&H (had one for awhile) I think I'd go the 45-70 too.
Just make sure the dang brakes are set before I push them triggers.
Thanks so much for renewing my wants and desires. I thought I had it all but Noooooooo, along comes Wynn.:32::32:

Hey! A little more loot... double? and you can get a Barrett semi-auto and pintle mount for your chair...might require beefing up the chair a bit. A hydraulic system for the mount might require a sturdier chariot.:D

Your one of the ones my wife was talking about when she told me to stop hanging out with you guys. I want one of them Barretts in a roof turrent on my van, cept I wanna get a Chevy first, I'm sure the metal in a Ford wouldn't hold up to it.

I want a pair of Dillon Aero's for my chair.

Heck, I still have wants of my own, your just stirring em up.

Bawanna, I used to have a Barrett. Great rifle, spring loaded barrel was not so fun, but I miss that gun. The recoil on them was not bad at all. I've had .243's hit harder than the Barrett hit me.

I shot a single shot 50 many years ago, I think it was a Harrington/Richardson? The guy played it up like I'd end up in the next county, made sure everyone was behind the muzzle, including our trucks from the muzzle blast. It wasn't that bad at all, course I think he said the gun was 36# so that had to soak up alot of recoil.
I suspect a Barrett action along with the weight would soak up alot too.

So your thinking Ford van roof metal might hold up ok to a Barrett? I really wanted a chevolay anyway, not sure it will ever happen but I'm so jealous of Wynn's. Here we go again, once again it's Wyn, seems to be a common denominator in my wants and wishes lately.

Check out page 51... what to do when a lion charges... works with other large predators, too. The "angle" thing rates a large "lightbulb" epiphany... requires large fuzzy ones to carry out.

Wynn:D

Thanks for the heads-up... I enjoyed browsing thru the whole magazine and... yeah... the flat-shooting angle advantage of firing from one-knee at charging 4-leggeds is an important concept to "get".

A concept I'm sure one doesn't get too many second chances to learn. Has to be way cool to hunt stuff that will hunt ya right back.
Seen quite a few African hunting video's and read lots of Capstick and other pro hunters over there.
Far better and tougher men than I to be sure.

Well the tins might need some ribs put in to help disperse the weight. Remember, that rifle is 4'11" from butt to muzzle, the barrel weighs in at 35 pounds, the rest of the rifle with optics and such will come to about 50 pounds. Then some one has to be behind it to shoot it. All in all that's a bunch of weight, and the roof will need some reinforcing.
I know why he had everyone behind the gun (likely an LAR Grizzly), I have broken many sets of optics with that Barrett. The muzzle blast is worse out side of the cone that comes back at I believe 45 degrees. I know I used to need 4 lanes on either side free of optics when I was practicing with it. When competing with it though everyone knew better than to have a bunch of that stuff on the line, or knew to keep it far enough away it wouldn't get brokeded. Good Times that.

American Hangunner... the May/June digital edition is out:

http://fmgpublications.ipaperus.com/FMGPublications/AmericanHandgunner/AHMJ12/

The Ayoob Files, on page 21 and continued on page 74, covers the Ohio Zanesvill Wild Animal release from the Law Officers' view... good reading!

Also, Ayoob's CopTalk on page 34 discusses When Police Must Shoot Animals.

The officers were undergunned with M4/AR-type "22's" and needed a LOT of ammo and concentrated fire, for the most part.

Fortunately, we don't have a lot of lions here in north Georgia. so I think I'll stick to my pistols.

Pages 26-27 are a good read about vehicle penetration with pistols and rifles.

Cars vs. bullets: Tanks... or Tin?

And the Kel-Tec KSG compact shotgun is tested on pages 28-29.

And everybody's favorite... A look at the best handgun ammo on pages 30-31!

I beg to differ, wheeled one. My father, mother, brother and sister-in-law who are all retired Ford employees ( I hesitate to use the word worker concerning my brother) all assure me that the steel in the roof of a Ford product is far stronger than the steel in any product from Obama Motors. Just sayin'.

I woulda bought another Ford van, but would have had to convert it to 4WD for another $8K or so. I got my GMC Savana GMC AWD and I love it... after almost 8 years. I had Ford Aerostar AWD Extended Vans from 1990 when they first came out with AWD and finally got a BIG van in 2004 when the 2005 GMC's came out. I waited until they had a few years to improve them.

The Fords were okay, but I wanted bigger!
