In the interest of ending this slow day I found myself wondering how things would have played out had the pilgrims each had a Kahr pistol?
Might as well log in with Turkey or Ham also. I'm kind of a glutton with a large family so we generally do both.

I don't know that Pilgrims having Kahrs would have changed much....maybe had the American Indians had them.....
We usually have turkey and ham...with me taking my own Turkey leg....

just one K9 and 10 extra mags at the alamo. I can just picture ol davy Crockett today in his deerskin outfit and his big knife kand his waist band K9.:der:
Here's hoping they would have had an ample supply of ammo too, 'cause I'm thinking finding an open Wal-Mart would have been a bit tough.

well, I guess manifest destiny wouldn't have taken quite so long...
and we cook 2 turkeys every Thanksgiving. One for the night before and one for that day.

Turkey and Ham.......And always stuffing!....if the pilgrims each had a Kahr they probably would not have had to leave. Gov't isn't as anxious to persecute armed citizens.

Its funny my wife gets on a turkey kick before the holidays. She said they were very expensive until a few day ago and they dropped a huge amount. Guess birds aren't like gas they go down instead of up during the holidays.
Cost my near 90 bucks to gas my van this morning. Always a sure sign the holidays are getting close, or summer vacation. I think theres a plot there someplace.

My momma makes a pecan pie that will make ya cry. Me and my guys in an earlier life did a remodel on her house. Several times she left the us pecan pies and stuff. The guys got to where they were more worried about the pecan pie than money.
Wish I could share a piece with ya. I don't stumble on many pecan pie fans in these parts. I'm struggling, don't really got the teeth for it in recent years, maybe gonna get me some of them false choppers, the plastic real looking ones, not the wood ones that George Washington and Jocko have, splinters dont' cha know.

Hadn't thought of that, thats a fine idea. I could whittle em myself. Now if I could just yank the few real ones I got left without pain, trauma or a dentist, we'd have this tiger by the tail.

Ebony choppers? Is that a black biker's club?
Where would the Pilgrims have sent their Kahrs when the magazine wouldn't fall free or the trigger reset? And no Jocko to help them? No Bawanna to lead them? I don't think they would have survived!

Huh? Jocko was there. He was still riding his first Indian 3 wheeler but he was there. (alot safer in those days, no icecream) ha, made a funny. I of course wasn't there but I've seen tin types, thats like pictures you younkers. Jocko was even putting moves on a little angel squaw, she was attracted by the shiney chrome on his little Indian and that was long before he went to bring um young too.
You don't see this stuff in the history books too much, I think most of that stuff is made up. I try to stay with the real true stuff.

Don`t know how the Pilgrims would have fared but I`m sure thankful I`ve got one.As far as the meal goes, there will be turkey with dressing, ham, venison, crabmeat casserole, potato salad, collard greens, several other vegetables and an assortment of pies and cakes including my regionally famous molasses bread. This will all be in a mix with irate women in the kitchen, snotty nosed kids underfoot and at least one half drunk brother-in-law.The meal will be served at the home of my wife`s mother.Right now the guest list is at 28 people.I plan to get there at the last minute and be out of the house and on my way home before my empty styrofoam serving tray hits the bottom of the trash bag.I`m also thankful for a dependable pickup to help me in my escape.Bless Henry Ford and the F-150.And God bless us every one.Happy Thanksgiving to you all.D

They probably would have starved to death, having wasted all their time at Ye Olde Chat Fence talking about the guns.

Ya got it all wrong. Had the pilgrims had Kahr's, the white man would currently be living on reservations, and running casino's. Without the internet, the pilgrims would have no access to the "proper prep of your new Kahr" sticky. Bunch of jam-o-matics up against some tried and true arrows comin' your way? They would have been screwed.

I hate to admit this but my wife (I know you told me to make it myself) hasn't produced 1 loaf of the regionally famous molasses bread! I intend to question her about this the moment she returns from some errands this morning. I shall advise her that we are only one of very very few with the top secret recipe and move it to the top of the get r dun list.
As for the dinner it sounds like we dine at the same place. We have far less kids underfoot than in years past, guess we were them, but right down to the irate "gang nagging" women in the kitchen to the half drunk brother in law sounds the same. My apologies in advance to any woman TD2k if your one of the genetically enhanced models that don't nag or not.
Guess if I wasn't nailed down at Ye OLe Chat Fence I could make the bread myself huh?
And lets keep that jam-o-matic talk at arms length. We got issues sometimes but we're far from being any where near the jam-o-matic classification. Probably hard to swallow for those waiting on a gun thats in for repair but still true. I've owned a few of those and they truely deserved that title.

Turkey, ham and all the trimmings. Will be a busy day, as Ido all the cooking. Kick the irate women out of the kitchen for the day.

I got so burned out on pecans it's not even funny. My Great-Grandmother had 80 acres of pecan orchard. We couldn't even give those things away, always left her place with both arms full of paper bags full of the things. All of us left like that. This thanksgiving will likely be her last one with us, we will end up doing an el cheapo meal from the grocery store, and have it with her. She'll be 94 in January, but most likely won't make it through the week, much less the end of the month. I say that, but she is not getting better, nor is she getting worse. That's what it looks like this year.

We're rooting for grandma dude. And don't under estimate old people. My grandfather was on his death bed in the hospital. On life support. Docs said no chance. Family, very large discussed quality of life over quantity and all that. Decided to pull life support.
He instantly improved, went home a week later and lived another 3 years or so. Old people rock, and doctors don't always have a for sure good answer.
Grandma just might be at your little girls wedding. Lets hope so.

Grandmothers and Thanksgiving just go together. I have been cooking for many years, largely inspired by my grandmothers' work in the kitchen when I was a kid. I used to sit in there at the table on holidays, helping when I could, tasting when I could, and soaking up the aromas. I still remember vividly the smell of Grandma Howard's home made bread. I know that is why I love cooking so much. The tradition for several years has been me smoking the turkey on my Green Egg. I will also do mashed potatoes, gravy, and two pies. My daughter requested apple and grape. The latter only if I can find some good, purple grapes at the store. The Mrs. will do some nice casseroles, and my mom brings the dressing along with a couple sides. Lots of food, and hopefully a few days of leftovers. My son loves turkey, dressing, and gravy sandwiches! :D

Pilgrims? Kahrs? Those pacifists? :)
Turkey only for T-Giving .... with green beans, sweet potatoes with apples, mashed potatoes because you can never have enough potatoes and you need to use something for the gravy besides white meat, dressing, especially dressing with oysters, ambrosia, pecan pie for the evening because the pumpkin pie won't last the afternoon ..... <heavy sigh>

Dressing with oysters, never heard of that one either. Sounds promising though. I look forward to visiting family but usually burn out quickly and my sister usually drives me insane, course that's relative too and some say I'm already there, maybe so, maybe so.
Lives in a big busy city 45 minutes away, I'm normally well traumatized when I get there.

lol .... I feel your pain. Wifey and I each have a sister that we have made a pact over, a pact not to subject one another to our sisters!
The oysters are great in dressing ....

John Alden brought a custom made .66 cal. Italian wheel lock carbine over on the Mayflower. It's now on display at the NRA Museum. Here's a link (http://nrablog.com/post/2010/11/26/The-Mayflower-Gun-A-Piece-of-the-First-Thanksgiving.aspx) to an article about it on the NRA Blog. It was 300+ years before the invention of the pocket holster.

I hope to visit HQ, the museum and the range early next year. My Great Grandfather's Parker shotgun is on display there in the Peterson exhibit. The indoor range is 50 yards, and you can shoot any caliber handgun or long gun.

You're welcome any time. I shoot at Smith & Wesson's range - nearly as nice as the NRA's.
