Got through another 100 rounds making 200 total on my new P45. My P45 eventually stopped locking back on the last round in the magazine. I switched to the other mag and with the new mag it locks back every time. I can't see a difference between the two mags. Any ideas why this would be happening? Thanx

I think it is the mag. If it stops happening when you swap them it's absolutely the mag.
With the one that not locking try taking it apart and cleaning it with solvent or rubbing alcohol, no lube of course and try it again it might just have gotten dirty.

Look the top of the follower over closely, make sure it's clean, not cracked etc. That is what tells the slide there ain't no more bullets, stay open.
Could be a bad spring but I sincerely doubt it this early in the game.

After further investigation of the bad mag, I did what others had recommended in other scripts--that is take off the slide then replace the slide stop pin and examine how the metal part of the magazine follower that pushes up on the slide stop fits relative to the good mag. Both seemed to fit and function the same. However, on closer inspection, the bad mag metal follower showed much more wear on the outer side of it suggesting to me that it was rubbing on the inside of the mag wall. Sure enough, as I pushed the mag follower down and let it rebound back up it seemed to grind against the mag wall much more than it did on the good mag. It would even seem to get hung up at times. I considered grinding the metal part of the follower but with repeated movement up and down of the mag follower the grinding and hangups faded. We'll see if this is the fix. If not it's Dremel time.

take some fine 600+ grit auto sand paper and jsut smooth that metal part off. ur won't remove any metal doing this, but it will take care of your issue. u did a nice job trouble shooting this issue. U could send the magazine back to let kahr send u another our you cold just email them and explanw aht is going on and ask for a new follower. I would think they would accomdate u on that to. If that follower hangs up just the slightest u willget what happened to you.Personally I would fix it myself and just move on..

Something for all of us to remember when issues like you had occured.

vinson,
That reads like solid troubleshooting to me. Here's hoping it's a solid fix as well.
