Hey Guys ...
Well, took my two babies (PM9 & MK9) to the range yesterday. First things first, not a single issue. Even checked the brass afterwards, and all strikes were clean as was the brass without a single crunch.
Now .... On to shooting.
My background thus far is with DA/SA and SAO firearms. Used to carry a P238 cocked & locked and really loved the short trigger pull. My accuracy with the P238 was hard to believe I was that good - out to about 20-22 yards.
Anyways ... DAO trigger pulls are LONG :2eek: The PM9 trigger pull seems a tad longer than the MK9 but both are relatively long.
Anyone move over from a SA/SAO firearm to DAO's? My accuracy was horrendous yesterday. Started to group just a bit towards the end, but overall, just wasn't pleased with myself :7: Just want to see if others that have moved over have suffered from accuracy problems.
I need to get some snap caps and practice a bit especially keeping the trigger finger smooth through the entire rotation.

IMO u will never shoot any kahr as good as about any SAO gun. If dead nut accuracy is your game, then kahr is not the way to go.

good to know jocko :) haha
pin point accuracy is not my goal ... small groupings out to atleast 15 yards, and I'll be happy :)
I had pretty good groupings at about 3-7 yards which made me happy. I think I am twitching right before she fire's which is something I have to get over mentally :D thus the reason for dry firing/snap caps. fluidity was never crucial in the SA world -- its VERY crucial in the DA world though!

Keep at it Rusty, you'll get it. Remember it's not wrong, its just different and it's a major different trigger. The snap caps will help and dry fire practice at home will go along ways towards getting used to it.
I don't totally agree that fluidity is not crucial in the SA world, perhaps more forgiving some but still important.
I heard the phrase hand tremors somewhere here this morning, I get those occasionally with my PM45. It's not the recoil which is not bothersome but I think the wait when I'm trying to be smooth. Fortunately it doesn't happen often and it's actually probably good to work around it as in a real defense shooting I'm sure some major hand tremors will be on the menu.

Like Jocko and Bawanna eluded to, keep practicing. I had similiar issues when I transitioned from a highly tuned 1911 to a Kahr CW9. Jocko set me strait on the issue and my groups improved with more rounds down range. The actions of the two pistols are miles apart and when you realize this and adjust your expectations accordingly, you will get better. I found pulling the Kahr trigger through and not trying to stage it, like many revolver shooters do, makes a big difference too. Buy more ammo and keep trying, you'll get there.

Precisely jfrey, but don't feel that you have to set your expectations too low either. These little Kahrs can be wicked accurate way out there in the right hands and given enough practice.
To compare out of the box with a highly tuned 1911 (gotta love those) would not be a fair contest.
Jfrey's got it right, keep at it.

I have found I love the Para Ordnance DAO LDA triggers.
I love em too. I have 3. The only negative to me and its really a small issue and one that I feel we get too hung up about and thats the reset.
I suppose if one was doing speed competitions it could be a real negative, it's certainly not an issue at the range. Could be an issue for defense but with all the issues there this would probably be low on the list.
They do have a great trigger in my opinion.
