Well it didnt take long for a "Newbie" to screw up a new CW9. My less then 1 week old CW9 now has a broken front site.

It was my 2nd time at the range finishing up my 200 rounds of uneventful break in. Just finished and wasn't paying attention and hit the corner of the table with the front site and snap.....

I will say I was having a heck of a time getting my shots where I wanted so new sights were in the back of my mind, so I'm not too broken up...:D

Would you guys suggest sending it back to Kahr for new sights?...If so how much should I expect to pay and which would be reccomended?

Thanks

JEC

Guys correct me if I"m wrong on this but I believe Dawson Precision makes a nice replacement front sight for the CW that you can easily install yourself and it works with the factory rear sight if I'm remembering correctly.

There are more and more options for aftermarket sights for the CW's and I suspect even more will come along.

I'm a well known big fan of the XS sights but I'm pretty sure they have no options yet for the CW.

In your shoes I'd look at Dawson and of course the Kahr site and see what options you have.

If you opt to replace both the front and rear I would opt to send it in, sometimes those Kahr sights are dang tight and hard to budge. They will tell you 10 days or 2 weeks but usually a week is more the norm and sometimes even days.

Let us know how this all shakes out.

Glad you found us.

I've just looked at the Dawson site and seems like the way to go. Is the front site a simple press on, it popped off pretty damn easy.

I think it has a pin in one of the holes and a screw in the other, probably a allen head, not sure. No pounding or forcing, set it on, tighten the screw, go shooting. I also think it's steel, I don't believe Dawson does tupperware. So it should be much stronger in all respects.

They have some real smart people there to help figure out whats needed and get you fixed up.

I've ordered several things from Dawson but no sights so some of the others around here are probably more in the know than I on those.

Well the original had no screw, is that normal?

The OEM sight is plastic. It has two posts that have the ends melted to hold it in place (Kel-Tec does the same on their PF-9 and P-11).
The Trijicon available from Kahr is metal and has two posts. It is attached via a screw into the rear post and Loctite.
I believe the Dawson sights are also metal and that they are attached by either flaring or peening one (or both posts) with a tool that is included with the purchase.

Greg

Jec PA. maybe now is the time to think abou thaving kahr install some night sights instead of that plastic front sight again. Being they are going to absorb some of the cost to fix your gun, it might just save you 50% or more. Maybe a call to kahr to run that by them to see exactly what they will do for you. I know what I would do.

U can just send the slide to them regular mail for about $5 . They don't need the entire gun...

Or they may send a pickup tag for it but sending the slide would work anyhow.

I'd definitely see about upgrading that front sight anyhow. While it's there.
Have them send your mags back with the gun and save a dime there too.
